Chapter 1127: Chapter 1127: Long Time No See

She liked black, and today she wore a short black dress. She had minimal jewelry, just a pair of earrings and a bracelet.

But those who knew their luxury goods could tell that these were the crème de la crème, pieces recently auctioned off for millions by a big shot.

That big shot was Arnold Simmons.

She walked to the door and nodded her thanks to the server who opened it for her.

In just those few steps, a simple nod, she carried herself like a princess coaxed in the royal court of the last century.

Seeing how several people were left staring, dumbfounded, Jack Stewart frowned and coughed twice, "Watch your eyes."

They snapped back to reality, and despite being annoyed by Jack’s words, no one dared to say anything.

*

It was already August weather.

During the day, it was hot like a steamer, and in the afternoon, the weather changed, bringing down a heavy rain.

Although the rain had stopped, the air still carried a chill.

Hannah answered Arnold’s call.

A man’s deep voice came from the other end, "Don’t stand outside to talk on the phone, go inside."

He knew her too well.

The private room was stuffy, and she was enjoying the coolness, stepping outside as she took the call, and now she was already standing outside.

Hannah looked down at her toes and then up at the hazy night sky before obediently retreating back inside.

So many words to say upon meeting, yet just as many left unsaid over the phone.

Arnold was busy with work, and so was Hannah.

Sometimes, Hannah jokingly said that their relationship was like a long-distance love affair, which often led to feelings fading. Arnold did not say much, but the next day, he would clear his schedule and stay by her side.

As time went on, Hannah worried that if Arnold continued this way, his company might go bankrupt, so she said, "I’m going to make a movie, to become an international superstar."

She did not hide her ambition at all.

Arnold indulged her, and then he turned around to make money again.

After the call, Hannah prepared to head back.

As soon as she looked up, she saw Jackie Qualls walking out while on the phone.

Dressed in simple white and long pants.

Perhaps the conversation on the other end was urgent, his pace quickened considerably. Yet even so, he maintained an air of elegance and composure.

He looked up casually and saw Hannah not far away.

The voice on the phone was still urgent, but he simply said, "We’ll talk later," and hung up.

There was a distance between them, and Hannah waved her hand.

As a greeting.

The diamonds on her bracelet swung lightly with her motion, casting light and shadows.

Like her eyes.

Jackie walked over, his face still amiable, his voice slightly husky, "Long time no see."

The tone was like that of old friends reconnecting.

All emotions were reined in his eyes, deeply suppressed, without a trace slipping through.

It indeed had been a long time.

It was said that in the industry, everyone had some intersection more or less; if not familiar, then a nod during a dinner or on the red carpet was common.

However, Jackie had been silent for a long time, and online speculations arose that he might be preparing to leave the circle.

His fans didn’t believe it, they insisted on leaving messages in the comments and in private every day, but Jackie never responded.

Meeting here was something Jackie hadn’t expected.

He appeared somewhat awkward, yet Hannah was very natural and casual.

She asked him nonchalantly, "Been busy lately?"

Polite yet distant. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Jackie smiled, a smile that concealed a bitterness only he understood.
