Chapter 1102: Chapter 1102: Let Me See

Arnold Simmons bent down to pick up her shoes and put them on for her.

One done, and then the other.

Hannah lowered her head, "Arnold, what is it that’s more than liking someone?"

She asked very seriously, her long lashes casting a small shadow below.

There was no sunlight outside, yet she was the sunlight.

Warm, dazzling, lonely.

Arnold finished tying the straps of the shoes with care, reached out to smooth out the wrinkles on her skirt, looked up to meet those shiny black eyes, his expression solemn, and whispered, "It’s you."

Hannah had seen many intense emotions throughout her life.

Love, parting, life and death, hatred.

All of it, as if the blooming flowers were watered with blood, flourishing on rotten soil, coveted by others.

But she also knew that even the most intense emotions could be diluted eventually.

If not now, then in the future.

There were occasional exceptions, like her mother who waited for her faithless father all her life, never forgetting, never letting her feelings fade, simply because he never returned.

She bowed her head, reached out to embrace the man in front of her, and ruffled the back of his head.

All she gave him was one word, "Mm."

At least, she was in a good mood.

*

Hayes Edwards was very frustrated.

Because Hannah had not left her room for two days.

He knew Arnold had come, and after hesitating many times, he still didn’t dare to knock on the door.

His mouth claimed ’look, but don’t see,’ but only he knew what he really wanted in his heart.

Clenching his chopsticks, he pierced violently through a soup dumpling on his plate.

The juice flowed out, carrying a rich fragrance.

The more Hayes thought about it, the angrier he became, "How can she favor love over friendship like this!"

Roy Yarn looked up, his mouth still half full with a dumpling; seeing Hayes look his way, he hurriedly took it out.

He pulled over a napkin to wipe his mouth, once again the well-mannered gentleman.

Then he opened his mouth slowly, "Is that so?"

"How can it not be!" Hayes huffed, "I sent her a text and she didn’t even reply, if that’s not favoring love over friendship, then what is?"

Roy Yarn thought for a moment, "But Hannah replied to my texts."

He said it very seriously, not as if he was bragging, but simply stating a fact.

Yet, the sight of his obedient look made Hayes even more infuriated.

Show-off!

This bookworm was blatantly showing off!

He took a deep breath, trying to calm down, thinking that maybe the bookworm was just fooling him.

He stretched out his hand, "What did she reply to you? Show me."

Roy Yarn’s phone didn’t have a password, the most simple white model, a very basic version.

There were barely any apps on the phone.

Clicking into the app, the chat interface was devoid of any public account notifications, just a few simple contacts, with Hannah’s at the top.

Hayes opened it.

The latest message was from Hannah.

——I feel like lying in today, you guys go ahead and eat, see you tonight.

Roy Yarn replied with "Okay."

Hayes’s face fell completely, and he stuffed the phone back into Roy Yarn’s arms.

"I’ve lost my appetite, I’m not eating anymore."

After saying that, he grabbed a soup dumpling with his chopsticks and shoved it into his mouth.

Roy Yarn was just about to say something when Hayes was already crying out from the burn.

He silently withdrew his hand, "I wanted to remind you, it’s very hot."

Whatever Roy Yarn was saying, Hayes was no longer listening, he grabbed the water glass beside him and gulped down the water.

The others at the table were startled by his reaction, but quickly realized he had burned himself.

"Quick, here’s some water, cold, drink a few sips and it’ll be all right."

Hayes took the teapot, gulped down several mouthfuls in succession, and ended up with a belly full of water. He slumped into the chair, looking completely deflated and listless.
