Chapter 1100: Chapter 1100 I will
Rain was falling outside the window, and a draft of chill seeped through the tightly shut windows, bringing with it the cool dampness of rainwater.
His fingertips glided over her delicate cheek and then settled on her small, lustrous earlobe, gently kneading it.
She couldn’t help but want to laugh. In the end, she suppressed her chuckles and pretended to be unaware as she opened her eyes.
Her eyes were bleary with sleep, misted with droplets, as though she had just awoken.
Arnold intended to withdraw his hand, but it was caught by her and pulled into an embrace.
Her eyes still not fully open, her voice was soft and husky, "Arnold, I’m thirsty."
He nodded and rose to get her water, but she held onto his hand even tighter.
"Didn’t you say you were thirsty?"
The corners of the girl’s eyes curved, and she shook her head, half her face buried in the white pillow, setting off her skin’s delicate texture and her lips’ bright red, "I don’t want water."
Her eyes innocently pure, her words tender and charming.
Arnold looked down at her, a smile forming on his lips.
Under the light, his laugh emerged, stripping away the aloofness his gold-rimmed glasses normally suggested, leaving behind an overwhelmingly beautiful aesthetic.
He bent over, steadying the back of her head, and a gentle kiss landed on her red lips.
A brief taste, no more.
A slightly elevated warmth traveled from her lips.
She laughed again, taking hold of his hand and placing her heated cheek in his palm, "Were you just in a meeting?"
He stroked her hair, his voice filled with laughter, "Weren’t you asleep?"
She caught on, but it was just for a moment, showing no embarrassment at being found out, instead snuggling closer into his arms, looking up at him, "If you were worried about disturbing me, why didn’t you close the door?"
He held her close within the blanket, whispering softly, "I was afraid you’d cry if you woke up and couldn’t see me."
She pouted, shrinking a little more into the blanket, "I wouldn’t cry."
"Yes, you wouldn’t," he agreed, his tone unconcerned, "I would."
She lifted her head, stunned for a moment, then leaned in closer, scrutinizing him, "Arnold, are you trying to coax me?"
Arnold gazed down, meeting her eyes.
His pupils were pure black, and in the dimness of the room, they were impeccably clear, one could see straight to the bottom.
Within them twinkled the light of crushed stars and laughter.
He smiled, hugging her tightly, "Yes, to coax you."
She too began to smile, cupping his face and peppering it with kisses, until finally letting go and jumping out of bed only when those pale lips had taken on some color.
She ran quickly, heading straight for the bathroom within moments.
Barefoot.
Arnold frowned, bent down to pick up a pair of slippers, but then his gaze fell upon a goofy-looking plush husky toy.
It was Hannah’s favorite, the one she always carried around.
She took it everywhere, and if she ever forgot it, she would come back to retrieve it.
He reached out to pick it up, examining the little toy for the first time with earnest attention.
The Golden Lotus was ticklish, which Hannah discovered after it became tangible.
At first, it was skeptical and demanded Hannah tickle it every day.
It believed that if it got tickled enough, it would stop being ticklish.
Hannah, lazy by nature, humored it a few times before buying a fur rubbing device online, leaving the Golden Lotus to scratch its own itch.
The Golden Lotus, initially thrilled for days on end, not only failed to overcome its ticklishness but also grew fond of the sensation of the fur rubber.
If it couldn’t rub against it once a day, it would feel unbearably uncomfortable and would always ask Hannah to carry it for him.
Gazed upon by Arnold, the Golden Lotus felt both nervous and ticklish, and it seemed as if it would give away its act any second, just as Hannah’s voice floated from the bathroom.
After her shower, she poked her damp head out of the bathroom, droplets still clinging to her eyelashes, "Arnold, I forgot to take my clothes."
