Chapter 1085: Chapter 1085: Too Deep into the Role
He spat out one drunken ramble after another, slurring and jumbling his words so much that the people around him only got the gist of it, and nobody could make sense of what was going on.
At most, they simply brushed it off as a drunken rant.
But Hannah heard him loud and clear.
She remembered something, a minor detail from the original plot.
Hayes Edwards was still crying, sobbing uncontrollably.
In the beginning, everyone was stunned, but now they couldn’t help but laugh.
By the end of his crying, Hayes lifted his head and shouted with feigned bravado, "Hannah Winter, when do you plan on using your boyfriend’s money to support me? I don’t want to try anymore."
As he got to the last sentence, his head involuntarily wobbled a few times, betraying his drunkenness.
The crowd exchanged confused looks, and Roy Yarn stepped forward to offer an explanation, "He got too into his role from a movie he shot before."
A few people caught on and, whether it was true or not, nodded in agreement.
Hannah let out a sigh, looking down at the golden-haired Hayes Edwards, who now had a tear-streaked face, and slowly said, "If Arnold Simmons heard what you just said, he’d kill you."
Hayes paused, as if remembering something.
He sobered up a considerable amount.
He quickly scrambled up from the ground, with a look of horror, and began to chug down several mouthfuls of ice water.
The whole operation was executed swiftly.
After a good while to sober up, he turned his head to Hannah again and asked, "I didn’t say anything just now, right?"
Roy Yarn chimed in from the side, "You just said you wanted Hannah to support you."
Hayes was taken aback, his mind still foggy, "Nonsense, all nonsense."
He shook his head repeatedly and looked at Hannah again, stammering an explanation, "Don’t overthink it, that’s just how I am when I’m drunk, I’d ask anyone for support."
Hannah pointed at Roy Yarn standing by, "What about when you see him?"
Hayes swallowed, looking at the man in the white casual suit, "Roy Yarn, you..."
Before he could finish, Roy Yarn quickly shook his head and moved behind Hannah, "I’m sorry."
Hayes forced a smile but couldn’t quite manage it.
During the second half of the gathering, Hayes accidentally got himself thoroughly drunk again.
In his daze, he seemed to remember the embarrassing incident from before, and clutching a bottle, he began to cry again.
While crying, he mumbled something, and a few people were discussing taking him back to his room, letting Roy Yarn escort Hannah home.
But Hayes staggered over, grabbed Roy Yarn, and wouldn’t let him be alone with Hannah, saying, "I know now, you were that dog by the roadside back then, you know all the plans Hannah and I made, so now you’re here to sabotage, right?"
Faced with Hayes’s drunken talk, Roy Yarn answered very seriously, "No."
Whatever Hayes said, Roy would seriously reply with a no.
The two were clearly not on the same wavelength.
Hayes was so drunk, it took several people to restrain him, but it was Hannah who eventually said, "Send him back, I can get home by myself."
Roy was worried, "You alone..."
"It’s just a few steps," Hannah said, "Besides, I’m not drunk."
Roy was still concerned, but only left after confirming several times that Hannah could go back on her own and wasn’t drunk.
Midnight.
There were six hours left until the official recording the next day.
Hannah got up to settle the bill, but the waiter told her that it had already been paid.
In the rush of people leaving earlier, no one had paid attention to the bill.
Hannah put away her phone, "Can you tell me who paid it?"
"A gentleman in a suit," the waiter thought for a moment and then pointed to a spot.
