Chapter 1084: Chapter 1084 Undermining the Foundation

"Have you ever thought about having a serious talk with your father and your family about this matter?" she said. "It might not be a bad idea."

From what Arnold Simmons had told her, she knew that Roy Yarn’s great-uncle, Alexander Quach, was not lacking in business acumen. If he were involved, Louis Snyder would have to think twice before making any moves.

The rooftop party was gradually becoming livelier, as several more young people arrived at the entrance. The noisy laughter faded into the distance, replaced by a melodious strain of music.

The surrounding walls were adorned with colorful lights, casting a warm glow that reflected in the drink in front of him, as if it contained the kaleidoscope of the world.

Roy Yarn inadvertently met Hannah’s gaze and was captivated by the sparkling light in her eyes; he felt a slight ripple in his heart and reached out to take the glass from her.

The drink was a bit spicier than he was used to, which made him frown slightly, but the taste seemed quite good.

He smiled shyly, "Actually, my thoughts are the same as yours, and I will have my father consider it properly," he said.

Whether it was money or power, those were never the ultimate pursuits of their family.

No sooner had his words fallen than a thoroughly drunk Hayes Edwards suddenly stuck his head over.

His eyes moved back and forth between the two, as if suddenly coming to a realization, and then he slapped his hand down onto the table with a force.

He looked at Roy Yarn with the gaze of one eyeing his rival, his voice full of ruffian charm, "I say, you’re not being very brotherly, are you? You look honest enough, so why are you playing dirty behind the scenes?"

Roy Yarn was slow to respond before answering, "I... I haven’t."

He looked at Hannah, and Hannah smiled at him, signalling that she was also clueless.

Hayes Edwards didn’t care, staggering over and grabbing Roy Yarn by the collar despite everyone’s attempts to stop him. His face flushed red as he leaned in, reeking of alcohol, "Tell me, are you trying to steal my thunder?"

Roy Yarn shook his head. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"You are!" Hayes Edwards didn’t believe him, pointing at Hannah, "Do you know who she is?"

Roy Yarn still shook his head, trying to pull Hayes Edwards’s hand off, but his grip was surprisingly strong.

Hayes Edwards couldn’t help belching, his breath heavy with alcohol.

This time it was Roy Yarn who loosened his grip first, then he turned towards Hannah with a goofy smile and walked over.

He hadn’t walked more than a few steps when his legs gave out, and he fell to his knees.

Everyone was shocked and rushed to help him up.

But Hayes Edwards simply wrapped his arms around Hannah’s waist and wouldn’t let go, waving off the others as he slurred drunkenly, "Hannah Winter, I’ve known you since the days you ran around in split pants, snotty and little, always pointing at the neighborhood dogs, saying we’d run wild together, and that if I was ever hungry, you’d find some rich guy and use his money to take care of me. Tell me, didn’t you say that!"

He lifted his head, swaying his blurry mind and giggled.

Hannah looked down at him, the distant light falling on her curled lashes; she blinked gently, her voice dreamlike, "Hayes Edwards, are you drunk?"

"I’m not," he rasped, belching again.

Unable to hold it back, a sudden surge of sorrow overtook him, and he burst into tears, unequivocally.

And yet, he stubbornly held on to Hannah’s waist, tears streaming down his face as he sobbed, "I used to hate you so much, but you’d still tell everyone I was going to be your kept man in the future; it made me so mad I wanted to hit you. But that was then, and I don’t hate you anymore."
