Chapter 1016: Chapter 1016: Recording Songs

Having heard that, Tiffany Lynch finally calmed down and out of sight, out of mind, she turned off her cellphone.

After some thought, however, she still couldn’t accept it. She learned that Hannah had been invited to attend an international brand fashion week in three days, and she couldn’t wait to get an invitation for herself through connections.

This time, she was determined to outshine Hannah at the event.

Recording studio.

James Landon was still wearing his usual dark sweatshirt, his overgrown hair almost covering his eyes, with a pair of thin-rimmed glasses perched on his nose and headphones in hand. His lips were tightly sealed, an image of seriousness and concentration.

Behind a glass window, Hayes Edwards was singing passionately.

The unedited notes were flying all over the place, each one like a figurative blow to the sound engineer’s head.

Even Ginny, sitting on the sofa, couldn’t help but cover her ears, leaning back with a look of helplessness and fatigue, "Isn’t Hayes Edwards a member of a boy band? He’s really off key."

James Landon wrote something in the notebook and then turned to pour Hannah some water, explaining, "Tone deafness is innate. One type is due to undeveloped muscles around the vocal cords, preventing some high notes from being produced, and the other is due to poor pitch discrimination by the ears resulting in inaccurate pitch. The former can hardly be changed, while the latter can be improved with practice." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Having taken a sip of water, James Landon added, "Hayes Edwards falls into the former category."

Hannah sighed and looked at the confident Hayes Edwards in the recording studio, silently withdrawing her gaze, "Confidence is really nice."

James Landon smiled, his gaze falling on that bright and delicate face. It had only been a month since they last saw each other, yet it felt like many years had passed.

Behind the lenses, his lowered eyes seemed to regain their usual tranquility.

He was an extremely quiet and introverted person, who became talkative only when dealing with his profession or with people he felt comfortable with.

After speaking that long string of words, he became quiet once again and James Landon felt somewhat awkward.

The cup of warm water in his hand had cooled down and then warmed up again from his body heat. He opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say.

In his ears, the ongoing sound was still Hayes Edwards’s out-of-tune singing.

He sang with fierce confidence, as if forcefully shouting out every word, filled with abundant emotion.

"By the way."

The sudden soft female voice made James Landon look up, meeting a pair of bright and shiny black eyes.

A gentle, glowing smile.

Seeing him look over, Hannah withdrew the words on the tip of her tongue and asked instead, "Would you like to go out for a walk?"

It had just past five o’clock, and the sky outside had already darkened completely.

The wind that had been blowing for several days showed no signs of stopping, and it would probably rain later.

They said they’d go for a walk, but they didn’t wander far, eventually choosing to sit down in a coffee shop near the company.

At this hour, there were no customers in the shop other than the owner and them.

With one hand propping her cheek and the other stirring the coffee in her cup, Hannah quietly looked at the man opposite her for a while before saying, "Mr. Landon, with your reticent personality, you must be easily taken advantage of, right?"

James Landon responded in a low voice, bowed his head, and his overlong fringe covered his eyes.

Hannah asked again, "You’re so quiet, are you like this when you’re in a relationship too?"

The clock on the wall ticked, and the wind chime that should have been hanging at the door had been taken down by the owner at some point.

Without the crisp clinking sound, the entire coffee shop fell silent.

After a long silence, James Landon finally spoke again, "I’ve never been in a relationship."
