Chapter 1963: Chapter 1111: Chief Morita_2
"The leader of this group of Cultists is terrifying, you could say he’s half human, half Ghost, able to wield Evil Techniques to kill. Our officers, in order to save those ordinary people who’d been deceived, had been restraining themselves from using weapons, and paid a heavy price."
"They had originally already rescued many people and transferred them onto the tram that was in charge of evacuation, but something went wrong at the last moment."
"The Cult leader was devoured by his own Evil Technique, and the situation completely slipped out of control because of that. The interior of Youjian Mountain Station turned into a Human Purgatory."
"All the officers we sent were killed in action, and those innocent citizens who had been deceived inside Youjian Mountain Station also never managed to leave. Together with the Cultists, they all stayed there forever."
"When our backup finally arrived, a horrifying scene appeared: Youjian Mountain Station, that massive shelter, had actually vanished into thin air, without leaving the slightest trace."
Chief Morita’s expression was stern, his face extremely serious: "It was as if... as if an invisible giant hand had completely wiped it from this world. The corpses of those people were all gone as well."
"But later we found out that this station didn’t disappear; it was more like it had opened a space-time tunnel and transferred that shelter to another world."
"When certain specific conditions are met, the gap of that space-time tunnel will open, and that long-missing tram will drive out from the gap, carrying people back and forth between the two worlds."
"Our world is the world of the living, while that world belongs to the dead. Real Fierce Ghosts wander and roam within it." At this point Chief Morita’s voice turned cold and chilling.
"Then what should we do to stay alive?" Yandeta Chiyoda asked.
"Find that runaway radio. That thing is connected to the Cult leader’s Evil Technique. As long as you find and shut down that radio, everything will come to an end, and you... will be saved." Chief Morita said solemnly.
"What kind of radio is it, and do you know its exact location?" The interior space of Youjian Mountain Station was enormous, and there were two levels, upper and lower. Trying to find one small radio within such a vast area was no different from looking for a needle in a haystack.
The most critical point was that their time was very limited, and they also had to avoid the pursuit of Fierce Ghosts. This was almost an impossible mission.
But then Chief Morita pulled a few old photographs with yellowed edges out of that file, and the content in the photos was even more bizarre.
In the first photo, a group of people were sitting on the ground, forming a circle. All of their bodies were uniformly tilted to the right in a strange posture. Their eyes were closed, and an indescribable, eerie smile was on their faces.
Standing in the middle of the circle was a person whose face could not be clearly seen. He was wearing a strange black outfit, something like a Kasaya, and in front of him stood a bulky old-fashioned radio.
The radio still had an antenna plugged in, slanting upwards and pointing into midair.
The faces of the people in the photo seemed to have been deliberately blurred. Besides that, there was also a patch of the clothes on this guy’s body that had been treated in the same way.
There was no doubt that this man was the Cult leader Chief Morita had mentioned. Blurring his face was to keep his identity secret, and blurring the clothes was to conceal the mark on them.
Yang Xiao knew in his heart that the mark there was the same one Hirano Yuuhi had previously sent him, hidden in some corner of Youjian Mountain Station—the mark of the Black Buddha Mother.
The whole scene clearly had no bloody or gory imagery, yet it still made one’s scalp prickle. Yang Xiao judged that they must be conducting some unknown horrific ritual.
"This machine in the photo is the radio you need to find." Chief Morita then took out a map, pointed at a red mark near the center of the map, and explained, "Also, this mark shows the location of that radio. It’s in the underground section of the shelter, hidden inside a room."
"What you need to do is infiltrate the underground section, follow the directions on the map to find that radio, and shut it down." Chief Morita emphasized once more.
At this moment, Yang Xiao was looking through the materials Chief Morita had brought, and he saw a few photos among them.
There were three photos in total, two men and one woman. The photo of the woman in the middle immediately caught Yang Xiao’s attention.
She was a very young girl, dressed like a high school student, but the calm and composure between her brows showed a bearing far beyond her age.
The key point was that she was holding a worn-out umbrella in her hand.
Yang Xiao immediately thought of that Water Ghost. Last night, after he escaped the Water Ghost’s pursuit, Yamamoto Chunai had messaged him, describing that Water Ghost’s approximate appearance and method of killing.
Now the descriptions matched.
Looking at the other person, he was dressed like a house painter, about forty or so, with an ordinary face that left almost no impression. His smile was quite simple and honest. He wore rubber shoes and held a big brush in his hand.
Yang Xiao instinctively felt repulsed by this guy, since his own left arm had been severed by this man’s hand—no, now he was already a Ghost.
A killing Ghost controlled by a Magic Artifact possessed by a resentful spirit.
He quickly turned to the last photo. In this picture was a tall, thin man with pale skin.
The man was extremely thin, his face obscured. He wore an old-fashioned white cotton mask, and looked very weak. His waist bent at an unnatural angle, and he leaned on a cane.
Yang Xiao had also confirmed this guy’s identity. He was the Half Ghost on the tram. For some unknown reason, his lower body was gone, leaving only half of his torso.
It looked as if some kind of force had ripped him in half.
Yang Xiao forced down his inner shock and asked in a relatively calm tone, "Chief Morita, who are these people in the three photos? Are they also Cultists?"
"No, they’re not. They’re ours." Morioka answered gravely.
"They... are also police?" Yang Xiao put on a look of disbelief.
"Yes. Not only are these three police officers, they are also very special kinds of police. Each of them possesses an ability beyond that of ordinary people, and they once rendered great service in protecting this city beneath our feet."
"But unfortunately, in order to rescue innocent citizens, they all died in that mission. What’s even more troublesome is that they... turned into Ghosts, and now roam within Youjian Mountain Station. They will become an obstacle to you completing this mission."
Chief Morita took the photos, flipped one of them over, and saw a few lines of small characters written on the back.
"These are some of the abilities of the Ghosts they became. Memorize them, so that if you encounter them, you’ll at least have some way to escape." Chief Morita explained with great seriousness.
Yang Xiao looked at the lines of small characters. They were written in plain language, easy to understand. The photo he held was of the Water Ghost girl, and the note said that once you saw the girl open her umbrella, you should immediately find the nearest place that could shelter you from the rain.
In fact, when Chief Morita saw that Yang Xiao had only half an arm left, he already knew that Yang Xiao had run into the Paint Ghost. The fact that the other man had managed to survive was something he truly hadn’t expected.
