Chapter 1962: Chapter 1111: Chief Morita

At three o’clock in the afternoon, Yang Xiao and the others were resting at the Detective Agency when suddenly footsteps echoed from the corridor outside.

Soon the door was unlocked and Watanabe Gou walked in expressionlessly, followed by Kato Shinjiro.

"Why are you back?" Takagi Reina stood up from the sofa, a sense of unease rising in her heart.

She actually wanted to ask, why did you come back together, after all, Kato Shinjiro was their ally, and the two sides had already cooperated.

But no one replied, and the atmosphere became strange. Kato Shinjiro gave Yang Xiao a glance signaling him not to speak, then Yandeta Chiyoda and Sakai Misaki also walked into the room one after another, with Sakai Misaki visibly terrified.

And it wasn’t over yet, behind them were two men and one woman, led by an older man with white hair, dressed rather elegantly and looking amiable, while the two people behind him were in police uniforms.

Seeing this scene, Yang Xiao instantly understood that Kato Shinjiro and Yandeta Chiyoda’s group hadn’t returned willingly; they were "caught" back by that mysterious organization.

The male officer behind the older man, like a bodyguard, introduced with a serious face, "This is Chief Morita, who specializes in the troubles you are facing."

After greeting, Chief Morita assured everyone to relax and promised he was there to help today.

Without wasting words, Chief Morita went straight to the point. He raised his hand, and the young female officer accompanying him immediately opened her satchel and took out a folder.

As the folder was opened, it contained some blueprints, although different from the ones previously given, these were more detailed, crucially including the most important underground parts of Youjian Mountain Station.

"We reported your situation; it’s a matter of life and death, the higher-ups are paying attention. These materials were specially obtained for you after a thorough investigation by our superior department."

Chief Morita spoke sternly, "Here is a detailed map of that station, and besides that, we have found many hidden clues that you will certainly find useful."

"Chief Morita, thank you so much! With you police helping us, I’m relieved!"

Takagi Reina, with extraordinary acting skills, showed a mix of sudden hope and excitement after initial shock, "Please tell us, what is going on with that place?"

Chief Morita’s brows furrowed with concern, "It’s a long story; the conditions inside the Youjian Mountain Tunnel are complicated. There indeed exists a station named Youjian Mountain Station, but it can no longer be found now."

"What do you mean by ’can no longer be found’?" Watanabe Gou very cooperatively led the conversation.

"It’s literal meaning; you have investigated for so long and probably found something. No one knows of that station’s existence, even its management staff are unaware."

"Even if you walk through the Youjian Mountain Tunnel from start to end, you won’t find any station; that station... has disappeared," Chief Morita whispered.

"It was originally more than just a station; it was also a refuge, and there are many similar refuges in various places of this city."

"But due to an event occurring later, that refuge underwent a change beyond common understanding."

"It disappeared, at least from the perspective of ordinary people. But every few intervals, or when certain specific conditions are met, it reappears."

"But only those selected by it can see it; the only way to enter the station is through that horrific death train."

"Unfortunately, you are the ones selected by it this time."

"Ladies and gentlemen, we sincerely hope you all survive, and we will do everything possible to assist you. However, to really break through, it depends on you." Chief Morita’s tone was very earnest.

Upon hearing this, Sakai Misaki couldn’t help but think of her home, her ailing father; sadness welled up in her heart, her eyes reddened, her nose stung, and tears rolled down like they were free.

This scene was also captured by Chief Morita, who sighed and offered her comforting words as if she were his own junior.

At this point, Yang Xiao felt slightly relieved; Sakai Misaki’s tears came at the right moment, completely genuine without any trace of acting.

Thus, newcomers are not entirely useless; it ultimately depends on how they are used, by whom, and where.

"Chief Morita, what exactly happened there?" Kato Shinjiro pressed further.

"It was a disaster starting decades ago when the situation was unstable, and many refuges were built in the city."

"But with circumstances easing up a few years later, these refuges weren’t all immediately put to use, and this refuge hidden within the Youjian Mountain Tunnel was one of them due to its geographical location."

"This refuge thus fell into disuse, but no one expected a group to set their sights on it."

"This was a group of cultists who hid there and used it as a base, transforming it while conducting various cruel and bloody cult rituals, harming many ordinary people deceptively lured in."

"And at that time, our police had already tracked down some clues leading there. Our first officers entering that place had a confrontation with these cultists."
