Chapter 1009: Chapter 706: Yang’s Thighs 2
"Everyone, don’t be afraid. Something has infiltrated us, but since it hasn’t started killing yet, it means it can’t do it for the time being. Our strategy has been effective. I suspect this ghost will tear off someone’s face the moment they turn their head, so please, don’t look back."
After a pause, Yang Xiao continued, "As long as everyone cooperates with me and listens to my commands, I guarantee your safety."
"From now on, follow my instructions in all actions. To prevent the ghost from confusing us, besides me, try not to speak or make any noise, unless you discover an important clue."
"Understood?"
The team fell silent. Yang Xiao nodded, relieved that, in this life-and-death situation, everyone knew the gravity of the situation.
"Good. Our priority now is to identify the direction of the cave exit. My plan is to use the scent of blood. The Mountain Guardian is dead; the direction the blood scent drifts from should indicate the exit. Let’s begin the assessment."
The team remained very quiet until Yang Xiao spoke again, "Alright, I have the results. How about you?"
"Got it."
"Yes."
...
"Very good. Now follow my lead. Let’s count 3, 2, 1, and move towards the cave entrance together. But remember, take small steps, just 10 centimeters at a time. The formation must stay intact!" Yang Xiao reminded once more.
"3"
"2"
"1"
With Yang Xiao’s final count, the snake-like formation began to move awkwardly. Unexpectedly, after this step, there was some commotion in the team.
Yang Xiao clearly heard teeth chattering, indicating the ghost had revealed itself, unwilling to let them escape.
"Don’t speak, listen to me first." Yang Xiao said slowly, "I know someone took the wrong step just now, but don’t call out its number. The person in front and behind it, report your numbers."
"3"
"5...5..."
Yang Xiao understood it was the 4th position, "Very well, now positions 3 and 5, listen carefully to my next words. We will continue moving, but no matter what happens, you must not panic, move, or break formation. Otherwise, it’s certain death! Do you understand?"
"Understood."
"Got it."
"Very good. Now positions 2 and 6, listen carefully. You two are responsible for watching the surroundings. If you see a body blocking the path, kick it aside. Don’t let anything interfere with positions 3 and 5."
"Do you understand? Reply." Yang Xiao continued.
"Got it."
"Understood!"
"Very good. I will watch the direction of movement. Follow my orders and adjust as necessary. Let me repeat, no matter what happens on the way, do not panic and do not break formation. If someone falls, the adjacent person must immediately step in!"
"If anyone notices a deviation in the direction I’m leading, warn immediately. The ghost may mimic my voice. We will identify by the direction the voice comes from. Positions 2, 3, 5, 6, any questions?"
"No!"
Yang Xiao took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, "Now, follow my command. 3, 2, 1... move!"
Under Yang Xiao’s command, the awkwardly linked formation slowly moved forward. Surprisingly, the ghost, too, obediently moved with the group.
"Smaller steps, slower frequency, watch out for obstacles underfoot!" Yang Xiao directed while navigating and controlling the team’s pace.
"Hmm?" someone made a sound.
Yang Xiao immediately halted the team and asked in a low voice, "What’s wrong?"
"Position 3... Position 3’s hand is so cold." someone in the team said. It should be position 2.
"Position 3, speak." Yang Xiao felt a sense of foreboding; the ghost was likely causing trouble.
"Cold, I... I’m so cold..." came a faint voice, "About to... freeze to death..."
"Hang in there!" Yang Xiao was anxious but helpless, "Maintain the formation, speed up!"
"The exit is just ahead!" This was a lie meant to give everyone hope, similar to quenching thirst by imagining plums.
In desperate situations, losing hope is the most terrifying thing.
As misfortune would have it, after ten seconds, someone screamed in alarm. This time it was more serious, position 5 tremblingly said something was grabbing his leg, like... like a hand.
"It’s an illusion, keep moving!" Yang Xiao commanded.
The pace was significantly slowed by positions 3 and 5, but finally, in a critical moment, they walked out of the cave. The infinite darkness gradually faded, and a tunnel could be vaguely seen ahead.
Yang Xiao looked at position 4, where the silhouette of a woman in Japanese attire slowly vanished.
With a "slap," a face mask fell to the ground. The face was pale, with crimson lips, exactly like the geisha face seen in the video!
Only then did Yang Xiao notice Boss Sun was in position 5. He was deathly pale, almost as white as the geisha face.
Upon closer inspection, there was indeed a bloody handprint on Boss Sun’s calf. Behind them, at the cave’s entrance, lay the Mountain Guardian’s body, facedown, with his right arm stretched out, as if dragged there.
No one thought to comfort Boss Sun because the truth was evident—the hand that grabbed him was that of the Mountain Guardian.
To be precise, it was the Mountain Guardian’s body controlled by some sinister force.
No one dared to re-enter the cave. Qu Hong saw a flashlight near the Mountain Guardian’s body and went to pick it up, as light was essential to navigate the tunnel.
But as she bent down to pick up the flashlight, an unexpected scene unfolded. The body of the Night Watchman suddenly struggled up, its bloodied hand grabbing Qu Hong’s wrist. The faceless skeletal face lifted, mouth opening and closing, making a horrible sound.
Even with Qu Hong’s experience, she was petrified, unable to move for a moment. The next second, Yang Xiao appeared beside her, kicking the skull squarely.
This jolt snapped Qu Hong back. In her panic, she saw a homemade shotgun hidden under the Mountain Guardian’s body. She grabbed it, aimed it at the skull without hesitation, and pulled the trigger.
With a loud "bang," a blast of iron pellets obliterated the skull, flipping the top off. The recoil then knocked Qu Hong back, likely injuring her wrist.
Quickly, Yang Xiao grabbed a machete from the ground and with one swift chop, severed the Mountain Guardian’s right arm.
Behind him, Yu Kai wrapped a piece of clothing around his hand, picked up the geisha face from the ground, and placed it in the wooden box they had brought, sealing it.
The Mountain Guardian’s face was riddled with shotgun holes, one eyeball dangling. The body, like a battered puppet, lay motionless and pitiful on the ground, utterly still.
The group collectively breathed a sigh of relief. Qu Hong stumbled, finally sitting down, still shaken by the sudden fright, her blood-stained fingers trembling.
"Mr. Chu, you saved us all." Xi Huijun looked at Yang Xiao with admiration, her eyes shining as if gazing at a god. "You’re incredible!"
Having secured the wooden box, Yu Kai also walked over, giving Yang Xiao a thumbs up and said, "Awesome!"
"Brother Chu, we’re indebted to you. When we get back... I’ll give you more money, however much you ask, no bargaining!"
Boss Sun, having realized who truly led the team, pleaded pitifully, "You must help us through this! We’re all counting on you!"
