Chapter 65: Uchiha Participates

Ren landed heavily near the shelter area, the impact cracking the pristine cobblestone.

He gently set Biwako Sarutobi down on the wooden porch. The Third Hokage’s wife was completely breathless, her clothes covered in the dust of the collapsed birth cave, but her eyes were sharp. She was a Kage’s wife; the initial shock was already fading into a hardened, survivalist focus.

"This place is quite far from the epicenter," Ren told her smoothly, his voice muffled by the porcelain mask. "You are completely safe here, Biwako-sama. Signal your ANBU escorts when you are ready."

Before Biwako could ask him anything, he vanished.

He returned to his estate. Kakuzu was already waiting there for orders, the thick black threads of his Earth Grudge Fear jutsu slithering from his wrists. Pakura vaulted down from the roof, her hands glowing with super-heated Scorch Release orbs.

"The fox is loose," Kakuzu grunted, his green eyes locked on the massive, nine-tailed silhouette towering over the burning village.

"Deploy immediately," Ren ordered his executives. "Priority target is the civilian shelters and the hospital."

Pakura raised an eyebrow. "Since when do we do pro-bono rescue missions?"

"Dead villagers can’t buy our products, Pakura," Ren stated, his voice flat. "Protect our customer base. Steer the beast away from the triage centers. Go."

The two S-rank mercenaries blurred into motion, launching themselves over the estate walls.

Ren didn’t linger. He stepped backward into the shadows of the manor and immediately stripped off the blood-stained tactical cloak and the fractured porcelain mask. He walked swiftly into his washroom, splashing cold water over his face to scrub away the dark trails of blood leaking from his tear ducts.

Two minutes later, Ren Uchiha stepped out the back gate of his estate. He wasn’t a bleeding, Kage-level ghost anymore. He was wearing an immaculate, tailored charcoal suit, his hair perfectly styled, looking every bit the obscenely wealthy, untouchable tycoon.

Inside the Uchiha compound, the tension was suffocating.

Fugaku Uchiha stood in the center of the precinct’s dispatch room, fully armored. Dozens of elite Uchiha police officers were gripping their weapons, their Sharingan blazing as they listened to the deafening roars echoing across the village. They were desperate to defend their homes.

But standing in the center of the room was a squad of ANBU wearing blank porcelain masks.

Root.

"The orders from Elder Danzo are absolute, Fugaku-sama," the Root captain stated coldly. "The Uchiha are to maintain strict quarantine within your district to prevent the beast’s genjutsu from affecting your clansmen. You are not to engage the Nine-Tails."

Fugaku’s jaw tightened. He knew exactly what this political trap was. If they stayed, Danzo would tell the village tomorrow that the Uchiha cowardly hid while Konoha burned—or worse, that they stayed back because they were the ones controlling the fox. But if Fugaku defied a direct order, Danzo would brand it a coup.

"Excuse me," a calm, deeply annoyed voice echoed from the doorway.

The Uchiha officers parted. Ren strolled into the dispatch room, casually adjusting his expensive cuffs, looking entirely out of place in a room full of heavily armed shinobi.

"Why is the Police Force standing around while my warehouses are currently at risk of being stepped on by a giant fox?" Ren demanded, looking at his father.

"Elder Danzo has ordered a quarantine," Fugaku said, his voice strained with repressed fury.

Ren finally turned his head, looking at the Root captain as if the man were a particularly slow, annoying intern.

"Elder Danzo is a bureaucratic advisor. He is a glorified secretary," Ren stated, his voice ringing with absolute, unyielding clarity. He looked back at his father. "The Second Hokage’s constitutional charter explicitly mandates that the Uchiha Military Police Force is responsible for the civil defense of Konoha. Our legal jurisdiction is the safety of the people."

The precinct went dead silent. The Root captain stepped forward, drawing his blade an inch. "You will not defy the elde—"

"I am defying nothing," Ren interrupted sharply, stepping right into the ANBU’s personal space without a flinch. "I am following the law. Unless the Fourth Hokage explicitly strips us of our charter, standing by while the village is destroyed is a dereliction of duty. We don’t take orders from advisors. We enforce the law."

Fugaku stared at his son. The sheer, ruthless brilliance of the legal maneuver clicked instantly. Danzo was bluffing with executive authority he didn’t technically possess. Ren had just handed Fugaku the perfect, impenetrable political shield. They weren’t staging a coup; they were doing their jobs.

Fugaku’s Sharingan spun as a dark, triumphant smirk crossed the patriarch’s face. He drew his katana.

"You heard my son," Fugaku commanded, his voice booming through the hall. "Our duty is to the village. Any man who stays behind is a traitor to the charter. Move out!"

The precinct erupted. The Uchiha surged out of the compound. The Root ANBU wisely stepped aside; they were assassins, but even they weren’t stupid enough to physically block a hundred enraged, fully armed Uchiha.

Ren watched his father lead the charge. The moment the precinct emptied, Ren slipped into an adjacent alleyway. He reached into his spatial inventory, pulling the dark tactical cloak and a fresh porcelain mask over his face.

It was time to get back to work.

Miles away, deep in the forests outside the village, the air was shattering.

Minato Namikaze materialized in a blinding flash of yellow light, a spiraling Rasengan howling in his palm. He slammed the sphere of pure chakra straight into Obito’s back, driving the masked fanatic into the dirt just a fraction of a second before Kamui could render him intangible.

Inside the village, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, stood atop a burning roof. Clad in his black battle armor, wielding the legendary Adamantine Staff, Hiruzen led a massive battalion of regular ANBU, desperately trying to physically push the colossal Nine-Tails toward the village walls.

The streets were pure chaos. Civilians screamed as buildings collapsed.

Near the eastern evacuation route, Shinku Yuhi—an elite ANBU commander and father to Kurenai—was frantically directing the younger generation of shinobi away from the front lines.

"Keep moving! Do not engage the beast!" Shinku roared, waving a young Kakashi, Guy, and Kurenai toward the shelters.

Suddenly, Kurama thrashed its massive tails, shattering the upper half of the defensive wall above them. Hundreds of tons of flaming stone and steel plummeted directly toward Shinku. He didn’t have time to weave a seal. He closed his eyes, bracing for the end.

The impact never came.

A dark blur slammed into him. Shinku felt a hand grab his flak jacket, hauling him backward with terrifying, bone-rattling physical speed.

The rubble crashed into the street where he had just been standing, obliterating the pavement.

Shinku gasped, looking up. Standing over him was a figure in a heavy black cloak, wearing a blank porcelain mask.

"Focus on the evacuation, Commander," the masked ghost stated, before blurring away into the smoke.

Shinku stared at the empty air, completely stunned.

A mile away, Kurama opened its jaws, gathering dense red and black chakra to form a Tailed Beast Bomb, aiming directly at the overflowing triage tents near the center of the village.

Before the beast could fire, a massive torrent of pressurized wind and lightning slammed directly into the side of its head, followed immediately by three super-heated Scorch Release orbs. Kakuzu and Pakura hit their marks perfectly, causing the beast to roar in pain and stumble sideways.

But Kurama, infuriated by the mercenaries, whipped its massive tails toward the triage sector instead.

Right Eye: Black Vault.

The masked teenager landed on the street directly in front of the medical tents. A sharp, stabbing pain drove straight through his skull as his right eye flared under the porcelain mask. Space tore open in front of him. He reached into his pocket dimension and ripped out the four heavy barrier anchors he had secured in his vault days ago.

Moving entirely on muscle memory, Ren slammed the four iron spikes into the cobblestone street in a wide square.

The moment the spikes hit the dirt, a towering, indestructible crimson barrier snapped into existence.

SMASH!

Kurama’s tails slammed into the Red Yang barrier with the force of an earthquake. The ground shattered, but the red energy held firm.

Ren hit the ground hard, skidding across the dirt. He clutched his bleeding eyes, his breathing ragged beneath his mask as blood leaked from his tear ducts.

"Hold the line!" Fugaku’s voice roared over the flames.

A massive volley of Uchiha fire jutsu rained down from the rooftops. The entire Military Police Force engaged, their Sharingan spinning in the firelight as they aggressively backed up Kakuzu and Pakura, forcing the colossal beast to step back from the evacuation zones.

Ren slowly stood up, ignoring the vicious ache throbbing behind his right eye. He had deployed the barriers and given Fugaku the legal shield to deploy the clan. Danzo’s quarantine trap was dead.

With his physical limits maxed out and the heavy hitters taking the field, Ren didn’t linger. He stepped backward into the heavy, choking smoke of the battlefield and vanished into the night.
