Chapter 49: The Synthetic Awakening

Ren stared at the glowing blue interface. The screen had populated with items that completely defied the natural laws of the shinobi world, categorized under a pulsing new tab: Multiverse Artifacts.

He scrolled through the list.

The Hōgyoku: A crystalline sphere capable of materializing the deepest desires of the user and shattering the boundary between mortal and divine.

The Six Eyes: A genetic ocular mutation granting absolute mastery over cursed energy efficiency and atomic-level spatial perception.

Altar of True Resurrection: A consumable architectural construct capable of returning a completely destroyed soul to a newly forged biological vessel.

For a fraction of a second, the fifteen-year-old boy inside Ren felt a surge of pure adrenaline. With items like these, Danzo, Madara, and the Akatsuki were irrelevant. He could rewrite reality itself.

Then, the CEO took over and looked at the actual price tags.

The Hōgyoku: 50,000,000,000 Points. (Prerequisite: [Soul King Milestone - LOCKED])

The Six Eyes: 20,000,000,000 Points. (Prerequisite: [Limitless Paradigm - LOCKED])

Altar of True Resurrection: 5,000,000,000 Points. (Prerequisite: [Divine Conduit - LOCKED])

Ren let out a slow, deadpan sigh.

The thresholds were absurd. Ren commanded the GDP of a small country, but he traded in soap and bandages. He didn’t have fifty billion System points, and he wasn’t going to waste time staring at things he couldn’t afford.

He navigated away from the divine artifacts and opened the standard Tier 4 Consumables tab. This was where the real, sustainable value lived.

Instead of blowing his entire two-year point reserve on a single combat jutsu he couldn’t control, Ren diversified his portfolio. He purchased a bulk supply of Senzu Extract Fragments, perfect for micro-dosing rapid cellular repair, and a batch of Advanced Stamina Maintenance Pills, designed to let a human body function at peak cognitive capacity on two hours of sleep for weeks at a time.

Then, he scrolled down to the Biological Modification section. He stopped on a single, extremely expensive vial.

Synthetic Optic-Chakra Catalyst: 150,000 Points. Description: Synthesizes the unique, highly concentrated brain-chakra released by Uchiha biology during intense emotional trauma. Forces the awakening of the base Sharingan without psychological distress.

Ren stared at the description.

This was the ultimate loophole. The Uchiha were biologically flawed. Their greatest power was intrinsically tied to psychological torture. Relying on the trauma of watching a loved one die to unlock their bloodline was not just tragic; from a corporate standpoint, it was terribly inefficient, destructive, and wildly unpredictable.

He confirmed the purchase. A heavy crystal vial containing a swirling, metallic-red liquid materialized in his hand.

Ren unstoppered the vial, tilted his head back, and carefully squeezed a single drop directly into each eye.

The reaction was instantaneous, and it was violently painful.

It felt like a spike of pure, freezing electricity was driven through the base of his skull, shooting straight into his optic nerves. Ren gripped the wooden railing of the balcony, his knuckles turning white as he bit down on his lip to keep from shouting. His vision blurred, swimming with intense, blinding white light as the synthetic chakra forcibly rewired the blood vessels behind his eyes.

For sixty agonizing seconds, his brain felt like it was on fire. And then, the pain abruptly receded, leaving behind a cold, sharp ache.

Ren let out a ragged breath, blinking away the lingering spots of light. He looked out over the courtyard.

The world was entirely different. The clarity was absolute. He could trace the microscopic grain of the wooden railing. Watching a moth flutter near a lantern, he could instantly predict the exact geometric trajectory of its wings.

He turned around and walked back into his master study, stepping in front of a tall, gilded mirror.

Staring back at him were a pair of brilliant, blood-red irises. A single, dark tomoe spun sluggishly around each pupil.

He had officially bought his base Sharingan.

Breathing heavily, the adrenaline fading into cold logic, Ren reopened the interface. He bypassed the shop and accessed the Bloodline Evolution category, checking the requirements for the next tier—the Mangekyō Sharingan.

He didn’t buy it, because the moment he selected the tab, the System issued a glaring red warning prompt:

[SYSTEM WARNING]

Aggressively forcing ocular evolution without stabilizing the current optic-chakra pathways will result in rapid cellular degradation, severe nerve damage, and irreversible blindness.

Ren stared at the warning, slowly deactivating his newly awakened red eyes. They faded back to obsidian black.

The base model was fine, but human biology couldn’t handle an instant, fully-maxed upgrade without breaking down. He couldn’t just throw money at the problem and expect his body to keep up; he needed to build tolerance.

The catalyst would have to be micro-dosed. If he used it as routine eye drops over the next few years, he could safely and gradually push his eyes to two tomoe, and then three, perfectly stabilizing the physical pathways before he ever even attempted to purchase the Mangekyō.

Patience was a virtue, and Ren was nothing if not a long-term investor.
