Chapter 242: Chapter 243: Roots and Breakthroughs
The house was quiet.
Everyone had gone to sleep. Runar’s clone sat in the main room alone, the lights low, the compound settled into the particular stillness of a full household at rest.
He appeared silently in his parents room, they were fast asleep and he reached out through his information perception and began to work.
Jake first. He read his father’s complete architecture — biological structure, cultivation foundation, soul strength, consciousness depth, constitutional framework. Every gap, every weakness, every place where age or insufficient cultivation had left something less than it could be. Then he began making changes. Very dramatic ones but Jake wouldn’t feel anything tonight or next week or next month. Changes written at the deepest level, built to express and show themselves gradually, the body implementing them naturally over months and years as though it had always been moving in this direction and had the potential.
Constitution. Physique. Aptitude. Soul strength. Consciousness architecture. All of it quietly revised toward something better.
He could have done it differently. With his current power he could have forcefully elevated all of them to Universal realm in a moment — rewritten their cultivation bases wholesale, pushed them past every bottleneck in a single night. He had considered it briefly and set it aside completely. Forced advancement at that speed would destroy their foundations. They would reach Universal realm with nothing solid underneath it and be unable to progress further. Everything above Universal would be permanently closed to them. That wasn’t a gift. It was a ceiling dressed as a ceiling.
This was slower and better. The changes he was making would allow them to advance naturally, at their own pace, with foundations that could support whatever came next.
He also wrote defensive measures into Jake. Passive, dormant, activating only when he encountered danger beyond his own ability to handle. The trigger conditions were precise. The responses were calibrated. Jake would never know the measures were there.
He moved to Lirien. Same process. Different architecture, different gaps, same care applied to both.
Then Caspian and Seraphina. Then Cassia.
Cassia’s architecture was the most complex of the group, because she was fundamentally from a different universe and a different species of humans — her cultivation base wasn’t as deep as the other parents’, her foundation more developed, her existing framework more intricate. He read it carefully and made adjustments that worked with what was already there rather than around it. The defensive measures he wrote into her were calibrated to her specific combat profile and the kinds of threats a being at her level might encounter.
He finished and sat back.

Five people. All of them moving forward now on timelines they didn’t know had been quietly adjusted. All of them carrying measures they would never need to think about.
His mind was settled. He no longer need to worry about their safety.
He went to the porch and sat in the dark until morning. Silently comprehending priciples along side his main body.
The house woke up in stages.
Jake was first, which was always true. He made something hot to drink, came to the kitchen, and found Cassia already there with her own cup, which surprised him for approximately two seconds.
"How long have you been up?" he asked.
"A while," she said.
He poured himself a cup and sat across from her. The gene cultivation technique conversation picked up from the night before as though the sleep between had been a brief pause rather than several hours. Jake had been thinking about it. He had questions ready.
Cassia answered them directly. No softening, no simplification beyond what was genuinely necessary. Jake kept up, which she noted without commenting on it.
Nyla appeared next, immediately hungry. Lirien came down behind her, assessed the kitchen situation, and took it over with the efficiency of someone reclaiming their domain. She assigned Seraphina a task when Seraphina arrived. Seraphina accepted the assignment without discussion.
Caspian found the clone on the porch and sat beside him.
They talked about the planet. The household. How the two families had been living together since the migration. Caspian asked one question about Runar’s path forward, received a clear answer, and didn’t push for more.
Breakfast came together. The table filled.
Jake started the childhood stories during breakfast, which was fitting.
"Since the day you were born," he said, "we knew you were different. We just didn’t know the scale of it."
He told the story of the early weeks — the talking that started days after birth, the developmental acceleration that left him and Lirien with no freaking idea at what they were watching and what to do.
He transformed from a few days old to Eleven years old in days. Then Fourteen. Then Eighteen.
"Your body and mind moving through stages that should have taken two decades in less than a week. We didn’t know what to do," Jake said. "There was no guidance for this. We just followed your lead."
Lirien: "I called my mother on the third day, to make sure she didn’t teach me the wrong things about raising a child. She thought I was describing a dream."
Jake: "We were terrified. Every single day. But you turned out extraordinary."
He looked at his son across the table. "Multiversal realm in a few years of cultivation. We watched you go from a week-old infant to..." He stopped. "We always knew. We just didn’t know what it meant."
Lirien: "I knew from the first week. Something in how you looked at things. Like you were already working something out."
Cassia: "He was the same in his second life. Different in the details. The same in the fundamentals."
Nyla: "He figured out spatial theory before most people figure out basic cultivation mechanics."
Celestia: "He redesigned my entire approach the first week he understood it."
Caspian: "He negotiated between two Universal Wills."
Seraphina: "And conducted a Dao talk that reached both universes simultaneously."
Jake: "And he still couldn’t keep his room clean at seventeen."
Lirien: "The absolute state of that room."
Nyla: "Really?"

Jake: "We have evidence."
Runar: "We don’t need to revisit this."
Jake: "We absolutely do."
Laughter around the table.
They spent the afternoon outside.
A trip to one of the planet’s open landscapes — wide, quiet, the kind of place that existed to be beautiful and had no other function. The group moved through it at a pace that worked for everyone.
Jake and Caspian walked together, continuing the morning’s conversation. It had expanded from the gene cultivation technique to the broader question of what cultivation looked like for families without natural talent — ordinary people trying to build something real on foundations that weren’t exceptional to begin with.
Lirien and Seraphina found their own rhythm further back, talking about things that had nothing to do with cultivation.
Cassia walked and observed and occasionally wrote something in her notebook.
Nyla and Celestia sparred briefly in a clearing they passed through. The exchange lasted five minutes and drew the attention of everyone in the group. When it ended the parents were quiet for a moment.
Seraphina: "She’s much stronger than when I last saw her."
Caspian: "Significantly."
Lirien, to Jake: "Is that normal?"
Jake: "I have no frame of reference for what normal looks like at their level."
Runar watched from the edge of the clearing. He read both of them through his perception — the depth from the time dilation space expressed in every movement, the principles Celestia had absorbed from the Dao talk visible in how she transitioned between exchanges. Thousands of subjective years of work present in five minutes of sparring.
He said nothing. He just watched.
They returned home as the sun was setting. All three mothers went to the kitchen. Nobody questioned this.
Runar was sitting in the outer courtyard when something happened, his body pulsed.
A brief light, radiating outward from him and contracting back. Quiet and Contained.
Then another.
Nyla saw it from the doorway. "You’re Pulsing."
Clone: "I’m aware."
Nyla: "Why?"
Clone: "My main body is breaking through."
She stared at him. Then went back inside immediately. "He’s glowing," she announced.
Everyone came to the courtyard.
The clone sat cross-legged, pulses coming at irregular intervals. He had suppressed everything else — the pressure, the energy waves, the structural changes that would normally be visible to anyone with cultivation perception. Only the light remained, not because suppressing it entirely would have required more effort than it was worth, but because he also wanted to show off a bit.
Each pulse corresponded to a principle completing in the void.
The family arranged themselves around him. Not crowding. Just present.
Jake: "How many times is he going to pulse?"
Clone: "As many principles as complete."
Jake: "How many is that?"
Clone: "Several."
Another pulse.
Caspian: "Each one is a breakthrough."

Clone: "Yes."
Seraphina: "Each pulse is a completed principle."
Clone: "Yes."
Cassia, to the group: "He consolidated every principle fragment from the exchange. The tournament divine abilities, the Dao talk insights, William’s origin. He’s been working through the queue."
Another pulse. Brighter than the previous ones.
Lirien went back inside and returned with blankets and hot drinks. She distributed them without comment. Jake accepted his and stayed where he was.
They sat in the courtyard as the evening deepened and the pulses continued at irregular intervals.
In the void adjacent to William’s universe membrane, the main body worked.
He had spent the first weeks after arrival consolidating — organizing every fragment, identifying which seeds were ready to complete and which needed more material. Then he began moving through the queue.
He needed energy for each internalization. As a Multiversal being he could absorb any form of matter or energy. The void around him contained void energy in vast quantities — the ambient background of absolute nothingness, dense precisely because nothing else had displaced it. He began absorbing.
His rate of absorption was in the universal units. The void energy converted on contact with his information field, transforming into information energy particles that integrated directly into his internal structure. The universe count inside him rose with each completed principle and each absorbed quantity.
The Principle of Radiance completed first. The fragments from Apollo’s Solar Sovereignty and the additional traces from subsequent tournament matches had been the most numerous and the most consolidated. He internalized it. The universe count ticked upward.
Then the Principle of Truth. Then the Principle of Inevitability. Then the Principle of Judgment. Then Dominion. Then Order. Then Transition. Then Finality. Then Harmony. Then Mercy. Then Hierarchy. Then Eternity. Then Stillness. Then Permanence. Then Creation. Then Cycles. Then Rebirth. Then Defiance. Then Perception. Then Penetration. Then Metamorphosis — the deepest fragments, gathered from the fight with Wukong, completing last among the tournament-sourced seeds.
Each completion sent a pulse through the clone connection.
Between completions he absorbed more void energy. The rate was steady. The universe count rose. The void around him was unchanged — no pressure on either membrane nearby, no collateral effect on anything else. A Multiversal being absorbing void energy in the void produced no disturbance. Only a Absolute Peak Multiversal Being or Omniversal being could do that.
He noted this with quiet appreciation and kept going.
The pulses had been coming for hours.
Most of the family had gone inside — Jake and Caspian after the ninth pulse, Seraphina and Lirien shortly after, Cassia when she finished the section she was writing. They said goodnight to the clone as they left, which felt slightly unusual and entirely natural at the same time.
Nyla and Celestia stayed.
The three of them sat in the courtyard under Willith’s stars, occasional pulses of light coming from the clone at irregular intervals.
Nyla: "How many has that been?"
Clone: "Twenty-one."
Nyla: "Twenty-one principles."
Clone: "Completed. More pending."
Celestia: "How many total?"
Clone: "Unknown. The queue is long."
She looked at the sky and asked where are you now.
Clone: In the void absorbing energy.
Nyla: "Are you absorbing void energy right now?"
Clone: "Yes."
Nyla: "In the void. Alone."

Clone: "Well i do prefer fewer variables."
Nyla: "That’s such a him answer."
Clone: "It’s his answer."
Another pulse. Quiet and complete.
Celestia: "How many universes does you have now?"
Clone: "More than this morning."
She accepted this answer without pushing for a number.
They stayed until late. Then Celestia went inside. Then Nyla, after one more pulse had come and gone and she was satisfied the pattern would continue without her witnessing it.
The clone stayed in the courtyard.
Another pulse.
Then another.
The stars overhead didn’t move. The void between universes was silent. The universe count inside the main body kept rising, steady and patient, one principle at a time.
