Chapter 259: Chapter 258: Mischievous Su Qi
Afterward, Jiang Zuo had Jingyue and Qing Lian come inside.
Once they were inside, Su Qi called out, "Don’t rush me! I’ll be ready once I’ve packed."
Jiang Zuo went to find Su Qi and said, "Let me pack."
Su Qi shook her head. "No, you’ll leave something behind."
Jiang Zuo said helplessly, "But we just packed for the trip to Liyuan Island. What could you possibly need to pack now?"
"..." Su Qi stopped what she was doing. ’I just wanted to check if we left anything behind.’
Jiang Zuo was exasperated. There was nothing to pack at all.
Jiang Zuo then led Su Qi out to the main hall. Jingyue asked curiously, "What were you two doing?"
Su Qi pouted. "I was just checking if we’d left anything behind. Oh, right, are we leaving now?"
Jingyue smiled. "Yes. The flights were all booked, so I had to borrow Soft Cloud. It took a lot of work to convince those old coots."
Jingyue was the Saintess, after all, so she had a great deal of influence.
Still, Jingyue felt a bit helpless thinking back on it. Those people had actually wanted to wait until her injuries healed before they’d let her leave.
But she had the Forbidden Land backing her up.
During that time, she had taken a trip to the Holy Land and learned something.
The memory of the one in the Holy Land was incomplete.
The Forbidden Land Maiden was desperate for the truth, so she had told Jingyue to travel outside as much as possible.
The reasoning was simple: only by going out would she have a chance to find the truth.
So, no one could stop Jingyue when she wanted to leave. After all, she controlled the Holy Land’s Arrays.
Of course, she wouldn’t let those people know it was the Forbidden Land Maiden’s wish. To everyone else, the Forbidden Land was a complete mystery.
Jiang Zuo said nothing. To be honest, he felt he couldn’t fit into their conversation at all.
Not that he cared. He didn’t particularly want to talk to them anyway.
Qing Lian stood to the side, also silent. She had learned the name of Senior Sister Jiu Xi’s husband on the way here. Everyone from her sect was quite curious about him.
However, Qing Lian found that her senior sister’s husband was surprisingly ordinary.
’How did a man like him manage to marry Senior Sister?’
Qing Lian couldn’t help but wonder.
That was as far as her thoughts went, though.
Su Qi said, "Alright, I’ll grab Sweet Potato and the others, and then we can head out."
Jiang Zuo added, "I’ll go check us out of the room."
As he spoke, Jiang Zuo headed outside. He definitely had to check out. Never mind the Spirit Stone deposit, but the key had to be returned.
When he reached the front desk, Jiang Zuo saw that Boss He was there too.
The moment Jiang Zuo entered, Boss He spotted him and immediately came over to greet him. "Is there something I can help you with, young man?"
Jiang Zuo handed him the key. "I’m checking out."
Boss He nodded in understanding. After all, everyone was checking out now. The festival was over, which meant Chuanhe Town would no longer be so lively.
It was about to return to its usual tranquility.
But that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. At least it meant there wouldn’t be any more danger.
Boss He took the key and said, "I’ll go get your remaining Spirit Stones..."
"Don’t bother." Jiang Zuo turned and left before Boss He could even finish.
Boss He watched Jiang Zuo leave, stunned, but ultimately said nothing.
It was fair to say that meeting Jiang Zuo had been a stroke of good fortune for his family.
Although some of their property had been burned, it was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.
By the time Jiang Zuo walked out of the lobby, Su Qi and the others were already walking over, likely finished with their packing.
Jingyue asked in surprise, "I thought you could get a refund on the Spirit Stones?"
Jiang Zuo replied casually, "I didn’t take it."
Qing Lian was a little surprised. "Is Brother Zuo that generous? Spirit Stones are quite valuable, you know."
She thought Jiang Zuo might not know how precious Spirit Stones were and was just giving him a friendly reminder.
Su Qi said dryly, "How could he have the nerve to ask for it back? He’s burned the place down a few times. Who knows how much the owner lost."
Qing Lian: "..."
’Burned the place down?’
Qing Lian didn’t dwell on it. She figured it was probably a private matter between the couple, and it was best not to ask questions she didn’t understand.
Jingyue, however, asked, "Is the Fire Element unstable?"
Jiang Zuo shook his head. "It’s just being a little mischievous, that’s all."
’It really is mischievous. No matter how much I beat it, it’s not afraid. It comes looking for trouble time and time again, and even brings other Elements with it.’
The unsuspecting Qing Lian was completely bewildered.
’Isn’t he just an ordinary person? How did he get mixed up with Elements?’
But Su Qi didn’t let them ask any more questions, saying it was best to head back first.
When they reached Soft Cloud again, they found it had been modified into a cloud with rooms.
Since they would be on it for a long time, it was best to have a place to rest. Plus, with a married couple on board, it was a good idea to give them some private space.
Jingyue certainly hadn’t thought of this; the idea was Qing Lian’s.
Once Jiang Zuo and Su Qi were on Soft Cloud, Su Qi pinched Jiang Zuo’s cheek and said, "Why have you been so stone-faced all morning? Trying to look cool?"
"’Look cool?’" Jiang Zuo asked.
"Yeah! You’re with three beautiful women. Don’t you want to make a good impression? Don’t you want to act suave? What if you leave a bad impression and the girls don’t like you?" Su Qi said, looking at him.
Jiang Zuo’s expression didn’t change. He simply ignored Su Qi and sat down to one side to rest.
Soft Cloud had already taken flight, and Jingyue and Qing Lian were in a different area.
The moment Jiang Zuo sat down, Su Qi followed him over, seemingly unwilling to give up until he answered her.
Finally, Jiang Zuo asked, "But... am I not always like this?"
"Of course not. When it’s just the two of us, you smile a lot," Su Qi said.
Jiang Zuo pinched Su Qi’s cheek. "That’s right. It’s only different when it’s just the two of us."
Su Qi then stood up and smiled brightly. "I know! I was doing it on purpose. I just wanted to hear you say it. Hmph, I’m going to go find Senior Sister and the others."
With that, Su Qi left in a very cheerful mood.
Jiang Zuo was left feeling utterly helpless.
’Still, there was nothing to be said.’
He glanced at the sky outside and decided to take a nap.
But he had barely fallen asleep when he sensed a restlessness from the Elements.
The Fire Elemental Minion seemed to be incessantly calling for him to wake up. Jiang Zuo’s eyes snapped open.
"What’s going on?" Jiang Zuo frowned.
Jiang Zuo couldn’t communicate precisely with the Elements. He only knew something was wrong, but he couldn’t tell what it was.
He scanned his surroundings but found nothing amiss.
Yet the Fire Elemental Minion was still agitated.
’So noisy.’
With a single thought from Jiang Zuo, the Fire Elemental Minion no longer dared to make a ruckus, but its agitation remained.
After a moment’s thought, Jiang Zuo lay down once more.
A moment later, he appeared by the side of his Elemental Minions.
The instant he arrived, Jiang Zuo understood the situation.
The problem wasn’t in the physical world, but on the Elemental Level.
Not far from his Fire Elemental Minion, an enormous elemental being had appeared.
Or more precisely, an Elemental Spirit.
Elemental Spirits were special life forms created by Mages. They could manifest in the physical world, and each Spirit possessed immense combat power.
You could say each one was like half an independent Mage.
The one Jiang Zuo saw was a Water Elemental Spirit. It wore a dress and carried itself with an air of arrogance.
