Chapter 364: Three-Way

It was blurry as Ishtar slowly opened her eyes after being blown away by the Hero.

A thin trail of blood trickled down the side of her forehead.

Her vision struggled to focus. At first, all she could make out was the blurred outline of a small figure standing before her, one with horns protruding from its head.

Then her sight cleared and her eyes widened to the greatest shock of her life.

"Glen...?"

Standing there was the boy, but no longer as the Glen she knew.

The demon within him had revealed itself and was already locked in combat with Dark Nova, who continued weaving through his attacks with overwhelming speed.

The demon could no longer continue pretending as it had no choice but to fight for its own survival.

Glen’s left hand remained stretched toward the Hero.

As long as it stayed that way, countless thorn spikes of varying sizes continuously manifested out of thin air around Dark Nova, each one attempting to impale him from a different angle.

At first glance, it almost appeared as though the thorns never traveled at all, as if they simply came into existence around their target.

But despite how unpredictable the attacks were, Dark Nova possessed a greater speed advantage over them.

Right before another thorn manifested from any direction, Dark Nova would already sense it and simply vanish from that point.

Such was the blessing; Speed of Zarses.

The blessing continuously adjusted the speed at which he moved, matching it to the level required to evade whatever attacked him or overwhelm whoever stood before him.

However, the nature of Glen’s attacks still proved troublesome.

The countless thorns manifested almost simultaneously, leaving very little room between one attack and the next.

"Glen...?" Ishtar’s voice came out very little, mostly in surprise.

He turned toward her, a devious smile spreading across his face as rows of claw-like teeth came into view. "Ah... you’re awake."

He then casually pointed his right hand toward her, and in the very next instant, a massive thorn suddenly manifested through Ishtar’s midsection before violently pinning her to the ground behind her.

"Just stay still..." he said calmly. "And wait until the spell completes."

Ishtar’s body jerked and mouthful of blood burst from her lips.

Beneath Ishtar and Glen, a glowing magic circle continued expanding across the ground as more inscriptions slowly carved themselves into its surface with every passing second.

It was a teleportation spell.

The sorcerer demon had cast it the very moment his battle with the Hero began. Unfortunately, it still required time to fully complete.

But once it did, it would transport both of them far away from the academy.

All he needed to do was keep the Hero occupied until then.

However, in that very moment, a sudden surge of greenish aura erupted from Ishtar’s body.

Glen’s eyes widened.

For fear of danger, he quickly leaped several meters away from her, landing at the opposite end of the magic circle.

By doing so, the teleportation spell process had abruptly ended as well.

The massive thorn impaling Ishtar suddenly dissolved into countless green particles as she slowly rose back onto her feet.

The hole through her midsection regenerated at an insane speed until not even a trace of the wound remained.

The sudden surge of Carrion’s power within Ishtar caused both the Hero and the demon-possessed boy to momentarily halt their battle, and watch.

Farther away, the Headmaster had already succeeded in moving the remaining students and staff to what he believed was a safe distance.

Although, none of them could bring themselves to look away from the scene unfolding before them.

Glen gritted his teeth. The very thing he had feared most was happening before his eyes.

The girl he had been ordered to capture was now actively channeling the power of the Demon God’s fragment sealed within her.

At this point, escape no longer seemed like an option for Glen.

His cover had already been exposed because of the Hero’s interference, and even if he was to manage an escape, it could not be empty-handed.

He had to leave with the girl, whether alive... or dead.

Anything less would most likely earn him a fate far worse than death at the hands of his master.

However, he also faced the very real possibility of dying here, caught between the Hero in Black and a thoroughly enraged Ishtar.

With no real choice left, he decided to confront what he considered the lesser evil.

Staying and fighting.

And with that decision made, Glen’s appearance changed considerably.

The horns protruding from the sides of his head elongated further, and the body under his control grew several feet taller as muscles swelled beneath the skin.

His face became even more grotesque, veins spreading around his eyes while his already sinister features twisted more hideously.

There was no longer a turning back at this time. The demon had fully taken over the body, revealing the true extent of its strength as a Grade 7 Sorcerer Demon.

Unlike the races of this Continent, whose strength was measured through talent and tiers, Demons were classified by Grades.

From the Hero’s perspective...

They were simply two demons standing before him.

It did not matter that the girl had been the one impaled only moments ago. The moment she revealed power capable of threatening human lives—and after interfering with him earlier—she ceased to be someone he could simply overlook.

Without taking his eyes off either of them, Norman focused on the sounds echoing from the C-Wing building.

The hurried footsteps filtering through the halls made him realize that students and anyone else inside were beginning to evacuate.

Good. That made things considerably easier for the hero.

He could already tell that the male demon had revealed the fullest extent of his strength.

But for the girl, he couldn’t accurately determine where her limits lay. The power radiating from her were sinister, but no less divine than the blessings he himself bore.

His first assumption was that she was also the Blessed of some vile deity.

A god so obscure that not even the gods who had granted him their own blessings had been able to identify its origin, or even its name.

Which was yet another reason he could no longer afford the restraint he had been exercising until now.

His gaze remained on the two demons before him as he spoke under his breath, fully aware that the five gods who had blessed him were listening.

"I invoke the blessings you entrusted to me."

At once, red lightning coursed across his body and a crimson glow ignited within his eyes.

The three-way battle was about to begin.

Demon Glen made the first move, thrusting both hands forward to cause countless thorn-like spikes to manifest around Ishtar from every direction, each one attempting to skewer her where she stood.

However, Ishtar didn’t so much as flinch.

The aura enveloping her body had become a second layer of protection around her skin. So, one after another, the thorns struck the glowing aura and failed to pierce through it.

The attempt immediately earned Glen her attention.

As she turned to unleash a blast at him, her eyes suddenly shifted, forcing her to abandon the attack altogether.

Instead, she swung her hand in the opposite direction and fired the blast straight toward the red beam racing toward her.

The red beams erupting from Dark Nova’s eyes, together with the crimson lightning coursing across his body, were all manifestations of the Blessing; The Wrath of Anos.
