Chapter 363: The Hero At The Academy (II)
Glen’s eyes bulged as his feet kicked frantically through the air, both hands clawing desperately at the Hero’s wrist while he struggled to breathe.
Panic instantly swept through the courtyard and several students screamed.
Others stumbled backward in fear, unable to comprehend what they were witnessing as they stared at the sight of Dark Nova holding one of their classmates aloft by the neck.
The Headmaster immediately stepped forward, raising both hands to calm the growing panic.
"Everyone, stay calm!"
Then he pointed toward the opposite end of the courtyard. "Move away from there. All first years, file to the side immediately!"
His voice remained firm as he continued directing them. "It’s alright. Keep moving away."
"Our nation’s Hero is simply doing his job."
"Move aside."
The female assistant quickly joined him, helping usher the frightened students farther away from the scene.
Mr. Kolinski Hillman had always been one of Dark Nova’s greatest admirers.
For years, he had believed every Hero should aspire to be like the man dressed in black.
So when Dark Nova had visited his office earlier that morning, explaining that a demon soul had possessed the body of a young boy and proposing his rather extreme method of exposing it...
The Headmaster had not refused.
The students continued retreating under the repeated instructions of both the Headmaster and his assistant.
Except for one person, Ishtar.
She was frozen at the sight of the horrifying scene unfolding by her side, watching as the only friend she had made in this class desperately struggled for air.
Norman black irises remained fixed upon the boy as he said, "Do not think you can hide from my eyes, demon. I know you have taken this child’s body."
Ishtar couldn’t take it anymore. "Stop!" she cried out. "You’re hurting him! Stop!"
Dark Nova’s eyes turner toward her. In that brief glance, he recognized her immediately from the descriptions Iroh had given him at the palace the previous day, knowing at once that she was one of the exempted demons.
Asides that, she was also one of only two demons whose presence within Belsorth Academy had been officially acknowledged and approved by the Headmaster himself.
He merely spared her that glance before returning his attention to the struggling boy in his grasp.
Perfect Deduction was the divine skill Norman received through the Wisdom of Atia blessing, bestowed upon him by the Goddess Atia herself.
The skill reconstructed the true chain of causality behind any event.
Every piece of information he gathered—physical evidence, lingering mana traces, behavior, timing, witness accounts, and even the smallest overlooked detail—became another link in an invisible chain leading toward the truth.
A seemingly insignificant description such as "a young boy with black hair and freckles" was never the answer by itself. However, it had become the final missing link required to complete the chain.
And once sufficient evidence had been accumulated to complete a chain, Perfect Deduction instantly aligned every remaining fragment of the case into a single, uninterrupted sequence, making the truth inevitable.
At that point, the blessing revealed the only conclusion reality itself could support, presenting not only the culprit’s identity, but also their appearance, probable location, recent movements, known associates, and even their most likely next course of action.
Combined with another divine blessing—Eyes of Jorus—its effectiveness became even more terrifying.
The Eyes of Jorus granted Norman the ability to perceive beyond physical appearances, much like the Lebrante wolves’ family trait. It allowed him to see the true nature of things, revealing what ordinary sight could not.
It was through those eyes that he recognized another soul residing within Glen’s body.
It was also how he discovered that every Beelstone carried the soul of a demon sealed within it.

The Headmaster repeatedly beckoned for Ishtar to move away from the scene. But his voice had already faded into the background.
She couldn’t bear watching it happen again.
To her, Glen genuinely looked like he was being choked to death, while the Hero continued asking questions that made absolutely no sense.
She couldn’t understand how he expected a human to answer questions about being a demon.
In that moment, she snapped.
A green glow suddenly bloomed within her eyes. And when she thrust her right hand forward, green markings had illuminated across her arm as a concentrated blast of energy erupted from her palm.
The attack struck Dark Nova head-on, and the Hero was blasted several meters away before landing across the courtyard.
Glen immediately fell to the ground, coughing as he desperately tried to catch his breath.
Every student around there, including Headmaster had their eyes widened in complete disbelief.
Even several tutors who had only just arrived at the courtyard from a distance came to an abrupt stop, all of them staring at the scene before them in utter shock.
Meanwhile, Ishtar paid none of them any attention.
She hurried over to Glen’s side before dropping into a squat beside him. "Glen..."
She gently supported him as she anxiously asked, "Are... are you okay?"
But in that very instant, a speedy blur of black suddenly crossed the distance and instantly resurfaced behind Ishtar.
A reddish glow trailed from Dark Nova’s eyes as he appeared, his fist already lunging toward her.
Ishtar’s eyes widened.
She barely reacted to his speed in time, managing to throwing out a hand which instantly released a spherical dome of emerald energy that enclosed both herself and Glen, shielding them from the full force of the incoming punch.
However, it only managed to cushion the impact slightly.
The barrier cracked almost the instant it was formed before shattering, the resulting shockwave blasting both Ishtar and Glen several meters away.
The Hero in Black had just disregarded the King’s earlier instructions.
When Iroh had briefed him the previous day regarding the exempted demons, Norman had also made one thing clear to the General;
Should any of those exempted demons involve themselves in, interfere with, or obstruct his investigation in any manner whatsoever, he would no longer recognize the King’s protection over them.
And that was exactly what had just happened.
Ishtar had stepped in to defend a demon soul that had possessed the body of an innocent child.
In doing so, she had impeded Dark Nova’s work.
