Chapter 378: The Spider Queen’s Ability (3)
Chapter 376
BAM—! BOOOOM—!
The leg crushed through the tower shield with destructive force.
The ground beneath Ray’s feet was instantly obliterated, with chunks of marble and dust billowing into the air in ruthless waves.
"Ack...."
Even the shield couldn’t resist the force of the crash, and it crumbled into shards of bone.
Ray collapsed onto his knees simultaneously.
His hands trembled from the force of the strike that still left lingering pain in his arms—his bones were still rattling from trying to block the force of the leg.
He knew it.
If his endurance had still been at the numbers it was a few minutes ago, he would have lost his arms right there.
Even though it wasn’t much, it seemed like those two extra stat points were enough to keep his bones from shattering.
Regardless, Nebula didn’t stop as anger overwhelmed her almost immediately.
Her second leg slashed through the air with deadly speed—still aiming to take out Chloe.
Ray was on his knees, so the leg passed by his head, speeding toward the girl, who had been frozen a moment ago with no way to dodge whatsoever.
But with the Tribrid buying her time, she was able to snap out of her daze.
Swinging her hands downward, her ability activated, propelling her backward in the nick of time.
The Queen’s leg crashed into the ground with destructive force as Chloe went skidding backward.
Her face beaded with sweat.
Nebula was about to move to give chase.
Unfortunately, Ray had recovered long enough to pick himself up and summon a bone hammer.
Watching as the spider’s legs twitched, the Tribrid wasted no time whatsoever in leaping into the air.
Letting out a battle cry and watching as Nebula’s numerous eyes rolled toward him, Ray gripped the hammer tighter and spun around like a broken arrow.
Without a single word, Chloe instinctively shot her hands into the air—using her ability to boost the boy’s speed.
And then,
BAM! BOOOOM!
Ray shattered the bone hammer on Nebula’s head with his entire force.
Bone shards flew into the air while the Spider Queen wobbled and almost crashed to the ground.
But digging her legs in harder, she was able to stabilize herself.
In the process, she accidentally sliced the ground open with her sharp legs.
The bone hammer was gone.
And in its place was a bone spear, which the boy wasted no time in hurling toward one of the Queen’s eyes.
’The rest of your body.... Uh... what was I thinking?’
Immediately dispelling the thought that was about to form in his mind, he put his all into the spear heading for the beast’s eyes.
Alas!
Before the spear could even land, Nebula moved.
She twirled around with such speed and force that the friction from her legs against the floor kicked up enough dust to send the Tribrid hurling away from her body into the distance.
Chloe held out her hands and instantly stopped the boy from flying too far.
Giving her a nod, she yanked her hands forward—propelling the boy through the air like an arrow let loose.
His spear was held behind his back as he rushed forward.
Nebula poised herself for defense on seeing the boy charging toward her.
A few seconds.
Just a few seconds before impact,
Felix lifted his hands and slammed them together in a loud clap.
Unanticipatedly, Ray vanished from view, and in his place was Felix, who weaved in between Nebula’s strikes as if he had been anticipating them all along.
Letting out a battle cry, Felix hurled his hands forward—bashing them into Nebula’s face and sending the beast sliding an inch backward from her spot.
Her mandibles could be seen opening up with astonishing speed.
Knowing what came next, Felix kicked the air beneath his feet like it was a platform of sorts and was about to shoot into the air when Nebula’s leg sliced through the air faster than he could move.
"FELIX!" Kai shouted in horror.
’Huh?’
It didn’t register with the werewolf at first until he suddenly saw himself flying backward with rapid velocity, and in front of him, a shower of crimson was spraying across the ground.
Blinking, the boy looked downward to see that both his legs were gone, and instead, a pair of bleeding stumps remained in their place.
BAM!
He crashed through a wall, causing it to cave in badly.
And he was moving so fast that even Chloe couldn’t slow him down at all.
"DAMN IT!" Ray bellowed into the air as a bone sword appeared in his hands instead.
[Thunder Step Activated]
BANG!
The boy lunged forward with devastating speed.
Trisha lunged forward with her ice ability, slowly covering the ground.
She slid across it and eventually picked up her sword that had fallen in battle before following after Ray.
But the Tribrid was much faster.
He was only a few inches away from reaching the Spider Queen when he saw her mandibles click open.
And then,
Tsshhk—! Tsshhk—! Tsshhk—!
Dozens of razor-thin strands were instantly shot toward the approaching boy with lightning speed.
Without delay, the boy immediately moved his hands through the air.
The bone sword followed in tandem.
His hands became almost a blur as he batted and swatted the strands away from his face.
He didn’t even slow down as he parried each strand aside.
But they kept coming.
Clang! Clang!
"Go on!" Trisha’s voice was suddenly heard as she cut in front of him with her katana.
She wasn’t as fast as Ray.
But she was more skillful with the sword.
Blocking each strike as if she had read them beforehand.
Sidestepping and proceeding to blitz forward, Ray ground his teeth while watching as the mandibles were kept busy by Trisha.
He was just a few feet away when he saw Nebula’s eyes roll toward the ceiling for a second.
Not all of them; just a quarter, staring upward.
Ray didn’t think much of it for a second.
But the next moment, his instincts flared before he could even get any closer.
Spinning around quickly, he noticed that there was nothing within his immediate field of vision.
’Hu—?!’
Tchaaaaaak—!
".....?!"
"RAY?!"
’Wha—?!’
The next thing the boy knew, he was being lifted off his feet.
He wanted to say something, but before he could, he coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Slowly glancing downward, he could see one of the colossal legs protruding from his abdomen.
It had torn a hole through his back and come out the other side.
His mind was still in confusion.
He knew he had sensed danger just now, so how?
Why hadn’t he seen anything?
And how hadn’t he sensed the fact that Nebula was moving?
Before he could finish his thoughts, he heard the clicking sound of mandibles.
Turning his head around, he saw the wide mandibles rushing toward his head with rapid velocity, about to bite it clean off.
And then,
....Darkness.
Tchaaaaak!
"RAY!" Chloe screamed in horror as her hands shot toward her ears—eyes squeezed shut in fright—unwilling to see what had become of the Tribrid.
