Chapter 370: Madness

Chapter 368

[Arc of Judgement]

A bright beam of light could be seen coalescing around Ray’s hands as he pointed it towards the beasts, locked and paralyzed in place by the lightning ability.

For a second, he locked eyes with Nebula.

And then,

BANG!

A sword-like beam blasted forward with blazing momentum.

The sword-like beam was as massive as a sword meant to be wielded by giants.

Not letting up, Ray cast the skill a second time, totally draining his energy pool while watching the two beams shoot forward like meteors.

The lightning surrounding his hands flickered violently before finally fading away as the attacks surged across the chamber.

Nebula’s eyes rolled with fury as she watched the beams heading for her children.

"NOOOO!"

It was too late.

Her screams couldn’t do anything as a resounding boom that shook the whole chamber echoed out.

The beams smashed through the spiders.

Chitin, armour, scythes; nothing could save the beasts as the brilliant beams tore forward with tremendous force.

They ripped through the spiked chitin and armour alike.

One of the beams was enough to tear through more than a hundred of the spiders before vanishing a few seconds later.

The second tore a gaping hole through the beasts.

Holes as wide as soccer balls appeared in their chitin, with smoke sizzling out of the wounds.

The residual force of the attacks smashed into the ground, causing it to crater beneath the overwhelming impact.

Ray backflipped and landed a few metres away just in time to see the spiders crumbling to the ground all at once.

"Haaa.... Haaa...."

Ray could be seen panting as sweat trickled down his face while watching Nebula freeze in horror.

"Ack...."

Exhaustion finally caught up with the Tribrid as he crashed onto his knees, panting as though his life depended on it.

Both his Meta-Force and energy pool had been drained completely.

He had been sucked dry, with nothing but two of each bone weapon in his inventory and his physical stats left to face the damned Spider Queen and the King-rank beasts.

Every muscle in his body screamed in protest, yet he forced himself to remain conscious.

Looking behind him for a second, he saw his cohort approaching him after they subdued the restrained duo.

"Ray... are you okay?" Kai called out in worry.

His hand was held out, helping the Tribrid back to his feet.

Sucking in a sharp breath, Ray glanced at Nebula, who still looked frozen in shock while staring at her so-called children.

"Ye-yeah. I’m just exhausted."

"I don’t need to be a seer to know that you’ve gone and angered her now." Chloe gulped loudly as she stared at Nebula.

The spider’s eyes were still taking in the sight of her beloved spiders’ dead bodies.

The chamber had become eerily quiet, with nothing but the smell of burnt flesh and scorched chitin lingering in the air.

"...."

Felix was about to say something until,

"AAAAAAAAAH! SCREW YOU! I WILL KILL YOU!"

The scream was so loud that it seemed as though their minds were being disoriented like a radio frequency with poor reception.

It affected everyone except Ray, who was still staring straight ahead.

If someone looked at him, it would seem like he was staring at the Spider Queen, but in reality, he was scanning the rewards he had gained from the first trial and now from mass executing the spiders.

He really got a lot, but would it be enough?

"AAAAAAAAH!" Nebula let out another chilling scream as one of her colossal legs was lifted into the air and swung wildly.

It cut through the air like a gigantic sword, and what followed next sent a wave of shock coursing through the Aspirants.

The leg landed on the back of one of the King-rank beasts.

And right before their eyes, it sliced the beast cleanly in half.

Its chitin was no match for the Queen’s powerful leg.

"Wh-What is th-this? She-she killed it?" Felix found himself stuttering in horror.

Even Trisha, who was always cold and seemingly unshaken, couldn’t help but shudder.

"... And so easily at that?"

"What the fuck?! That was a King-rank beast, yeah? How could she kill it so easily? A single King-rank beast is enough to finish one of us if we aren’t careful. Heck! We barely got by in the underground world. How the fuck did she kill it?!" Chloe shouted in pure shock at the sight before their eyes.

"Maybe it was a fluke?" Kai quietly uttered until,

"AAAAAAAH!" Nebula screamed again with so much rage that the entire chamber seemed to tremble.

Her second leg crashed into another King-rank beast and effortlessly cleaved it in two.

It was like a hot knife ploughing through butter.

That was how overwhelmingly powerful her colossal legs were compared to the damned King-rank beasts.

Ray was literally trembling—not at the sight of Nebula tearing apart her own children so easily, but because of what was flashing before his eyes.

His System screen!

The previously translucent blue screen had turned a bright crimson, flashing countless warning alarms before his eyes.

It was as though even the System was panicking at what Nebula was doing to her own children.

[Warning! Warning! Warning!]

[Host has angered the Spider Queen by his actions, and it would seem like she has descended into madness.]

Ray gulped and continued reading.

[The System is worried for Host’s safety, as the target of the Spider Queen’s anger would be directed at Host in no time. Hence,]

Sucking in a deep breath, Ray read on.

[Host needs to escape. Fucking run before you get sliced into hundreds of pieces so thoroughly that even your body can’t be recovered.]

’What? Run?’

This was the first time the System had ever given him such a quest.

As Nebula’s rampage and madness continued, the number of King-rank beasts was reducing at a chilling pace.

Each swing of her legs effortlessly erased another one of her own subordinates as though they were nothing more than disposable insects.

[Quest Alert!]

[Details; Unless Host wants to lose his life and never be recovered; you need to run as far as possible from the clutches of the Spider Queen.]

[Possibility of an escape; Less than one percent.]

’Wha—? The hell you mean?’

[Evaluating Spider Queen’s strength....]

The flood of System messages kept coming again and again until,

[Damn, you cooked, Host. Spider Queen is an Emperor-ranked beast on the cusp of evolution into the Legendary rank.]

[Recalculating survival chance....]

A second later,

[Escape chance; Zero Percent.]
