Chapter 329: Fight the Controller (1)

Chapter 327

BAM! BOOOM—!

The orb crashed into the creature with such explosive force that even the ground couldn’t handle it, splintering as heavy chunks of earth and bone shot into the air.

A cloud of smoke covered the boy and the guardian in its depths, only for the haze to immediately disperse as a heavy punch thrown forward was caught directly by the controller.

The force of the grab sent a wave of wind knocking the smoke away, revealing the two combatants.

For such a destructive attack, the guardian looked strangely fine, with barely any cracks on its body.

Unknown to the others, a second shield had appeared in the guardian’s hands just as the orb connected; it had shattered the defense, but it did its job perfectly.

Twisting the caught fist, the controller squeezed, causing Ray to wince as he felt the intense pressure of the creature’s grip.

As he was pulled off balance, a heavy kick smashed into the boy’s frame.

[-20 HP]

Ray’s body was sent flying a few meters back.

Before he could go far, he landed in a roll and used one hand to stop himself from sliding on the bone floor.

As drops of sweat fell from his temples, merciless blue arcs of lightning ignited in his gray eyes.

And then, without wasting even a fraction of a second, he exploded forward in a terrifying, lightning-fast lunge.

The moment he did, the creature twisted its body into a weird stance, biding its time as it waited for the kid.

Seeing Ray cut past them, Kai and Trisha wasted no time and followed right behind him.

Van poised himself, feeling his cannon charging up and ready to send another strike in, while Chloe nocked an arrow into her bow and waited for the perfect moment to send it flying.

Passing the circle of weapons again due to his terrifying speed, Ray vaulted into the air with his hand cocked backward, hurling himself down in a punch aimed directly at the jaw of the creature.

With a light step backward, the creature swung its hand, bringing a heavy bone hammer into place to meet him.

Bam! Booom—!

A blast of wind spread outward as the hammer connected with Ray’s fist.

Taking advantage of the clash, Kai slid beneath the trajectory of the hammer, his crystal daggers flashing toward the guardian’s legs in an attempt to damage its foundations.

The monster lifted one of its legs and hurled it down at the kid, who quickly twisted around, dodging the foot as it crashed into the ground with a loud crack.

Springing back to his feet, Kai reshaped his construct into a heavy crystal club and hauled it forward, smashing it directly into the controller’s chest.

The weapon shattered against its torso with immense weight, forcing the guardian to take a heavy step back.

Kicking off into the air, Trisha flew over Kai’s head with her ice sword raised high above her.

The guardian snapped its gaze toward the girl as she descended, but instead of panicking, it took several steps backward with the intent of letting her strike empty air.

As if reading its movements beforehand, Trisha twisted her grip on her hilt mid-air.

Instead of a descending slash, she thrust the blade forward with all her might.

From the tip of the sword, a dozen jagged ice spikes materialized and whistled toward the guardian.

Left with no other option, the creature quickly crossed its heavy forearms in front of its face as the spikes crashed into the dense bone and shattered against its guard.

"Darn. Our abilities are of no use since it doesn’t have any flesh," Kai growled in anger as he charged up an attack.

"Speak for yourself," Ray coldly uttered as he bolted forward without the use of his ability.

Closing the distance between him and the creature, he immediately swung his hand forward and smashed it into the guardian’s raised guard.

The punch sent the monster sliding backward for a second as it threw its hands open and immediately slashed with its curved fingers that resembled claws.

Ray sidestepped the slash, then slashed the air with his own gauntlets, bursting obsidian claw slashes from them that rocketed toward the monster.

Unflinching, the guardian lifted its hands upward from below, and rising from the ground came a pile of bones that stood in place like a solid wall.

Bang!

The wall shuddered as the obsidian claw strikes smashed into it, threatening to rip through, but fortunately, it held.

Until,

Bang!

A bright white beam tore through the wall and sent it shattering into a rain of bones, continuing onward and crashing into the earth, ripping a deep gouge into the surface of bones.

And that was because the creature was now no longer in its earlier position.

It had moved back into its circle of weapons while Ray, Trisha, and Kai flanked it from all directions.

Looking at each other and then at the guardian, they nodded to one another as a last beam from Van hurtled forward with deadly speed.

However, a bone shield shot into the controller’s hand and stood in place.

The beam ripped through this shield but met another which easily stopped it.

That was more than enough for Van, who had caught sight of the brief exchange of looks between the trio ahead.

Though they said nothing, days of fighting side by side had helped hone this intuition that seemed like telepathic communication between one another.

Because the very next instant, Kai was launched forward as his hands were covered with crystal gauntlets.

A golden lasso could be seen in Ray’s hands as he hurled it forward, wrapping it around Trisha’s waist before flinging her forward with all his might.

Within a second, the duo had crossed the circle of weapons with lightning speed, then descended directly on the guardian.

Trisha now held an ice club which she swung downward, while Kai’s hands, which were wrapped in crystal gauntlets, were shooting straight toward the controller’s head.
