Chapter 53: Deceptive seduction
The silence of the Star-Gardens deepened as the silver-leaf roses swayed gently in the high-altitude draft, casting dancing shadows across the petrified-wood table.
Below them, the sprawling lanterns of the elven capital looked like fallen stars, but neither of them was looking down. The atmosphere between them was a dense, invisible web of calculation.
The Queen took a delicate sip of the violet wine, her emerald evening gown catching the pale starlight. Her exceptionally busty frame rose with a slow, deliberate breath as she set her silver chalice down with a soft, ringing click. She was done reacting to his audacity. It was time to regain control of the board.
"You are like a ghost, Vince,"
She began, her voice dropping into a low, smooth cadence that carried the weight of her ancient lineage.
"My perception of you isn’t one of a powerful being. And yet, you manipulate structural vibrations with a precision that defies laws of natural combat. I doubt that’s a power indigenous to Humans?"
Vince leaned back, resting his arm lazily over the back of his chair. He swirled the violet liquid in his glass, his purple eyes completely unreadable as he watched the play of light on her face.
"Maybe I just practiced a lot, after all I was pretty close to nature while growing up."
Vince replied, his voice dry and entirely devoid of the awe she was used to receiving from her subjects.
The Queen’s brow twitched.
"Practice does not allow a mortal to absorb the concussive force of an enemy’s strike. Where did you learn to manipulate vibrations?"
"I read a book once,"
Vince said, offering a small, mocking shrug.
"Highly recommend it. Lots of pictures."
A quiet, frustrated breath escaped the Queen’s lips, her full hips shifting slightly in her chair as her mask of absolute royal composure began to wear thin.
He was a vault.
Every query she threw at him was met with a brick wall of dry, infuriating wit. She could see he was actively observing her countenance, tracking the slight tightening of her jaw and the way her fingers tensed against the stem of her chalice.
He was reading her just as much as she was trying to dissect him.
Realizing that direct tactical interrogation was yielding nothing but sarcasm, the Queen’s demeanor underwent a subtle, mesmerizing shift.
She leaned forward, resting her chin on her palm. Her emerald gown dipped lower, the plunging neckline framing her big breasts beneath the pale starlight. Her amber eyes softened, shedding their cold, militaristic glare and replacing it with a warm, heavy bedroom gaze that could melt away the hearts of warriors. A faint, almost teasing smile touched her lips as she looked up at him through her thick silver eyelashes.
"You are incredibly guarded,"
she purred, her voice dripping with a sweet, dangerous warmth that seemed to hum in harmony with the surrounding orchids.
"A man of your talents shouldn’t have to carry such heavy secrets alone. Perhaps... if you were to share just a fraction of your true nature with me, you would find that a Queen can be a very generous confidante. Tell me about yourself. What is it that a man like you truly desires?"
Vince’s expression didn’t change, but internally, his mind was already moving at insane speeds.

Vince commanded mentally.

Figures,
Vince thought to himself, a cold sense of amusement washing over him.
He saw right through the guise. The soft gaze, the calculated shift of her voluptuous frame, the subtle dropping of her voice—it was a honey trap.
She wasn’t opening up; she was trying to soften his guard, hoping to extract a confession, a weakness, or a secret she could later use to black-box him or hold the Canopy over his head.
But instead of pulling back, Vince decided to go with the flow. If she wanted to play a game of closeness, he was more than happy to dictate the rules.
Still, looking at the dead flat 0% on the system interface, he knew his current approach needed a sharp, aggressive change. You don’t tame a wild, proud monarch by sitting across a table trading barbs under the open sky. To break her defenses, he needed to try something entirely different.
He set his chalice down on the table, the sharp
clack
of the silver breaking her soft spell.
"You know, Your Highness,"
Vince said, his voice dropping into a deep, velvety tone as he leaned forward, his purple eyes locking onto hers with a sudden, suffocating intensity.
"The wind up here is getting a bit distracting. And a conversation like this... it feels a little too exposed for an open garden. Why don’t we take this discussion somewhere a bit more enclosed? Somewhere private."
The Queen’s heart gave a sudden, involuntary thud against her ribs. But she quickly suppressed it, her mind racing as she interpreted his suggestion as a massive victory.
He was biting the bait. He was letting his guard down, driven by the physical proximity she had just offered.
A slow, triumphant grin spread across her flawless face. For the Queen, it was the grin of a hunter watching the prey step directly into the snare. She could already foresee the exact blackmail she would hold over him once she extracted his secrets in the dark of her private chambers.
"Very well then," she murmured, her voice carrying a soft, compliant promise.
Vince smiled back, his own grin widening into a cold, predatory expression of absolute, supreme dominance. But his grin was born of an entirely different vision.
As he looked at her heaving, exceptionally busty chest beneath the emerald silk, he wasn’t thinking about secrets or political leverage. He was already visualizing his own mark—the deep, glowing purple crown crest, the absolute symbol of belonging and total conquest—branded beautifully against her sun-kissed skin, just like the one currently resting on Elena.
She thought she was leading him into a trap. She had no idea she was walking straight into his own.
"Lead the way, Your Highness,"
Vince replied.
