Chapter 811: Chapter 801: Do Men Need to Rely on Women?

"Showing up uninvited like this, sorry for the intrusion." Titus Quinn was completely oblivious to the current tension. "My girlfriend wanted to come have a look. She really likes jewelry, so she asked me to bring her. Young Master Rivers wouldn’t mind, right?"

"Mind? Of course not, you’re more than welcome." Leon Rivers’ eyes flickered as he looked at the woman standing beside Titus Quinn, feeling she looked somewhat familiar. "Since you have a girlfriend now, shouldn’t you introduce her to us?"

"Jane Rowan, from Country Z. She’s my girlfriend—I met her overseas not long ago."

"Hello, I’m Jane Rowan. Actually, our Rowan Family and The Rivers Family have business合作 on the commercial side. Young Master Rivers should know me."

The woman standing by Titus Quinn’s side was poised and composed. When she smiled, two shallow dimples appeared, and there was a rare heroic sharpness between her brows.

"Of course, of course." Leon Rivers smiled politely, narrowing his eyes slightly, and glanced thoughtfully in Jared Quinn’s direction.

Jane Rowan was from Country Z, and the Rowan Family were weapons manufacturers. Their status in Country Z could rival the Seymour Family in Country C. Titus Quinn was really good at this—he’d actually found a woman whose status and power were no less than Melody Thorne’s.

He could almost smell gunpowder in the air.

"Young Master Rivers, aren’t you going to save us a couple of seats?"

"Yes, yes, I’ll have someone arrange seats just for you two." Leon Rivers beckoned to a servant. "These two are VIP guests as well. Make sure they’re well taken care of."

"Yes, young master."

"You see that?" After greeting the two, Leon Rivers immediately sat down beside Jared Quinn. "He’s openly trying to get back at the Quinn Family. No idea how he got in with the Rowan Family, but it looks like we’ll have to be more careful from now on."

Jared Quinn gave him a faint look. "A man needs to rely on a woman?"

"You don’t, but he does," Leon said. "Didn’t you see how he just was? Arrogant as hell."

"When does the auction start?" Jared Quinn checked the time.

Leon Rivers: "...Soon, soon."

The items up front were all minor pieces, and there were too many people in the venue. Melody Thorne and Yulia O’Connell were both here for the big-ticket items later, so they were getting restless. The two women went out into the hallway to get some fresh air.

They had just stepped out of the main hall when they ran into a man silently smoking in the corridor—Nathan Knight.

Yulia O’Connell’s body stiffened slightly. "I’ll just head back to the hall. When they start auctioning the big pieces, I’ll come get you."

"Jade." Nathan Knight walked over and blocked Yulia O’Connell’s path. "I have something to say to you."

"So I’m supposed to stand not too far away and keep an eye out for Cole O’Connell so he doesn’t suddenly show up and catch you two?" Melody Thorne spoke up. She didn’t really remember Nathan Knight, only that he’d crashed into her car last time, but she could tell this man wasn’t simple.

"Last time I didn’t even get a chance to thank Miss Thorne for saving me and taking me to the hospital. If not for you, Miss Thorne, I’d probably already be dead." Nathan Knight spoke, deliberately stressing the word "dead."

"Heh, no need to thank me. You two talk, I’ll wait over there." Melody Thorne pointed not far away.

It felt a bit like standing guard for a scumbag.

"Thank you, Miss Thorne." Nathan Knight said politely, reaching out as if to take Yulia O’Connell’s arm.

Yulia O’Connell stepped back slightly. "Whatever it is, say it quickly."

Nathan Knight noticed her current coldness. His hands clenched into fists as he leaned in and murmured something to Yulia O’Connell.
