Chapter 809: Chapter 799: Wasn’t It Taught by You?
"Miss Thorne, may I be so bold as to ask why, when I’m not famous at all, you want to use the play I wrote? With your current capabilities and the backing of Jared, couldn’t you get any play you’d want?" Kate spoke up.
Since she started writing plays, she had always been the one seeking others, watching as she was turned away because of her anonymity. It was rare for someone like Melody Thorne to come to her!
"Because I appreciate the story you wrote in your play. That’s probably why I reached out to you. I hope we have a successful collaboration, and if there’s anything, feel free to contact me." Melody raised her glass.
A large hand smoothly took it away.
"I’ll toast with milk instead." Melody’s face showed embarrassment as she chuckled twice.
"Alright, alright."
The Quinn Family.
"Jared, here is the invitation to the charity auction; it was delivered this afternoon. It’s said that the event is a collaboration between a bigwig from the jewelry world and The Rivers Family and will feature many jewelry pieces." The butler handed over the invitation.
"Leon Rivers’ event, shall we go?" Jared Quinn handed the invitation to Melody Thorne.
Melody Thorne opened the invitation, which featured an image of a royal blue necklace. Just the design on the paper made it look particularly exquisite. She knew the origin of this necklace; it was created by a woman in the last century and was named Heart of the Ocean. She had coveted it in her past life but unfortunately never obtained it.
Legend has it that the Heart of the Ocean symbolizes the hearts of two lovers and is a blessing for their everlasting bond.
"Do you like it?"
"Mm." Melody nodded repeatedly.
"Then let’s go have a look."
"I want to go too." Timmy pouted. "You’ve been together constantly these days; have you forgotten about me?"
"Didn’t you pretend to be sick last night just to get hugs?" Jared Quinn unhesitatingly exposed his son’s little pity-seeking antics.
"That’s ’cause you taught me!" Timmy said.
The butler "..."
Trying hard not to laugh; absolutely must not laugh.
"Alright, let’s go together. Come on, let’s head upstairs to change clothes."
"Mm."
Melody helped Timmy pick out a white little suit and a small tie, while she changed into a warm yellow waist-fitting evening dress. Downstairs, Jared Quinn was already waiting for them in the car.
The event was held at a high-end vineyard, lavishly decorated, exuding an air of opulence and splendor.
"Jared, Melody, you’re here," Leon Rivers greeted, holding a wine glass, looking tall and handsome in a striped suit.
"Uncle Leon," Timmy said.
"Oh, it’s rare for them to bring you along." Leon Rivers winked at Timmy.
"This is the third time they’ve brought me out." Timmy held up three fingers, recalling clearly.
The first time was when they went to the supermarket together, the second was school, and the third was this auction.
"Why are there so many reporters inside?" Melody frowned.
"Don’t worry, Melody. The reporters here today have been allowed only with permission from The Rivers Family. I’ve warned them not to randomly publish or photograph things unrelated to the jewelry." Leon assured.
"Let’s go, inside."
Melody Thorne and Jared Quinn had seats in the front row, along with Cole O’Connell and Yulia O’Connell.
The two women gathered, having much to discuss.
"Are you okay?" Melody whispered, having recently heard that Yulia O’Connell tried to commit suicide.
"Someone watches over me twenty-four hours a day. How could anything happen to me?" Yulia chuckled, her red dress making her look even more stunning.
