Melody Thorne got out of the car and headed straight for the Western restaurant.

"Melody, over here," Nina King was already greeting Kate, and casually pointed out Ashton Young and Kiki Sutton, who happened to be passing by.

"Melody," Kiki waved at her.

Melody Thorne walked over to her and greeted Kate, "Hello, I’m Melody Thorne. I’ve seen several of your plays before, really liked them, so I asked Nina to arrange this meeting."

"Hello, I’m Kate. I’m delighted you noticed me, and as for you, you look exactly the same as on TV, even more beautiful than on the shows. Your film Willow Bright was also outstanding."

"Thank you."

"How have you been lately?" Melody Thorne sat next to Kiki on her left and asked softly.

"Pretty good," Kiki’s fingers pinched the cup, her smile even happier than before.

Melody Thorne understood; it seemed Ashton Young was treating her well.

"Mr. Tang, are you planning to shoot your own TV series?" Ashton Young began, his gentle face very amicable, "It seems Mr. Tang has great ambitions, even surpassing us men. In just a few months, you have managed a small company so well that it’s about to go public. Impressive."

"Compared to Mr. Yang, I’m still doing okay."

"But Mr. Tang might be putting the wrong bet this time," Ashton Young continued, "With so many acclaimed writers domestically, do you think the show you’re investing in will become popular just because you’re filming it?"

Sitting opposite, Kate’s expression darkened. Generally, writers and authors have high spirits as they put great effort into their work, so they don’t allow others to demean it or suggest it lacks class.

"Whatever Mr. Yang wants to do is none of my business, but I’ve seen Kate’s shows and think they’re excellent. I’m planning to use her writing for the next series. People differ and so do their tastes," Melody Thorne retorted.

If Kiki wasn’t here, she surely would have splashed water in his face!

It’s her guest; encountering by chance is one thing, but what’s with the attitude?

"Um... have some tea," Kiki interjected, pouring tea between the two.

Melody Thorne was about to take a sip when a large, well-defined hand already took the tea in front of her. "She’s not drinking tea recently, give her a glass of milk."

"Alright."

"Melody, you’re becoming more and more impressive. Even Jared Quinn is submitting to you perfectly," Kiki bumped her arm, "For a grown man to be so attentive, managing even your tea and water intake."

"Ha ha..." Melody Thorne chuckled.

He’s probably concerned about his daughter!

"Let’s go, there’s something this afternoon," Ashton Young spontaneously grabbed Kiki’s hand, "Enjoy your meal."

"Hey, I..." Kiki was dragged out of the restaurant.

"Ashton Young, go do whatever you need; I have my own freedom. Why do you have so much control over me when you’re not family or my dad!" Kiki shook off his hand, "Don’t assume that just because you’re supporting me now, I’ll be grateful. Whether I’m popular or not doesn’t matter anymore!"

"Stop making a scene and let’s go. You should feel more fortunate now than before. At least I’m willing to support you; many actresses want to climb into my bed for resources, which I might not even give. But you don’t need to climb, and I give them to you every day," Ashton Young pushed her into the passenger seat and shut the car door.

"Ashton Young, I told you, I don’t want to be famous anymore."

"It’s not up to you," Ashton Young started the car, unable to define his feelings toward Kiki Sutton, only wanting to take her wherever he goes, knowing she wouldn’t become Mrs. Yang.
