Chapter 729: Chapter 729: His Possessiveness Toward Her
Yulia O’Connell felt a bit dazed by that cold expression, not knowing how long it had been since she’d last seen it. In her mind, her brother had always protected her since childhood. Whatever she wanted, he would give her. Even though she was just a foster daughter of the O’Connell Family, he still treated her like a princess.
When he was with her, Cole O’Connell would show a side of himself that was reserved for her alone. His eyes would seem to hold a whole world, allowing her to play and be carefree,
Such a brother made her feel incredibly warm,
but everything changed a few years ago after Cole O’Connell went abroad and returned. She saw his ruthless side.
In her sophomore year, she started dating a boyfriend. As soon as Cole O’Connell found out, he immediately came back from abroad, forbidding her from staying with her boyfriend. He gave her three days to transfer and leave the man.
She thought Cole O’Connell was worried she might meet a bad person and was therefore testing their relationship. But to her surprise, Cole O’Connell killed the man three days later, fully exposing his ambition and possessiveness over her.
That day, she went crazy searching for Cole O’Connell, and only when he locked her in a room and kissed her deeply did she realize how strong his possessiveness over her was.
Therefore, she hated him.
"Do as you please," Yulia O’Connell said indifferently. "If you want to know, go investigate. You’ve always been like this; when I first joined the O’Connell Family, I should’ve stayed far away from you."
"Ha, too late now," he said. The amber sheen hid all emotions that should have surfaced.
Yulia O’Connell returned to her previous demeanor, reaching out to pat the man’s shoulder in front of her. "If you’ve got what it takes, get me as soon as possible. Sleeping enough is beneficial for everyone; you’ve got plenty of time to waste on me, but I don’t have the time to play with you."
The flippant tone was a stark contrast to earlier.
The graceful figure turned and left.
Cole O’Connell looked up and lit a cigarette, feeling a bit irritated. Could he do it? From a young age, he’d cherished her, unwilling to let her shed a drop of blood. Now he couldn’t harden his heart,
yet she had been a prey grown under his watchful eye since childhood; how could he simply look away?
In the private room, Yulia O’Connell returned. Melody Thorne immediately sat up straight, clutching a handful of cards before stuffing them into Yulia O’Connell’s hand. "I think I’m about to win. You play a round for me."
Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman both looked up at her, doubting her confidence. She was about to lose, more likely.
Yulia O’Connell wasn’t aware of the bet on wins and losses among them. Accepting the cards, she lazily raised her beautiful eyebrows, playing cards with a blank expression.
"You lost, you lost," Leon Rivers said as he laid down the final card, while Yulia O’Connell was left with only the smallest card in her hand, an obvious loss.
"Miss O’Connell, please find a gentleman here for a kiss," Melody Thorne said with a somewhat mischievous smile.
Cole O’Connell hadn’t returned, leaving only Harold Chapman and Leon Rivers there. Jared Quinn was her man and was definitely impossible.
"Sis, you’re digging a hole again,"
This was evidently intentional; when Cole O’Connell saw it later, he’d definitely retaliate against them. He absolutely cherished her.
"Hurry up, hurry up! The girl hasn’t even spoken yet, why are you two sulking?" Melody Thorne cast a sidelong glance, "Accept the loss."
Yulia O’Connell’s gaze swept back and forth on Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman, they seemed much easier to approach than Cole O’Connell.
