Chapter 728: Chapter 728: Want to Challenge Me? Go Back and Train Some More
"It’s different," Melody Thorne raised her head. "I know I can just have them do it, but after all, I am the head of a company now. Naturally, I need to handle things myself to improve my abilities; otherwise, how can I earn respect?"
Jared Quinn was silent for a few seconds, his large hand around her waist, no longer stopping her. As long as she’s happy, she can do whatever she wants; all he needs to do is protect her from behind.
"You want to kiss me again," Melody Thorne already saw his intention and reached out a hand to block between their lips.
Her hand looked like a delicious treat too; how could he let it go?
They tussled, and a faint sound came from nearby, like someone was secretly making a call, but it also sounded like crying.
"It sounds like Yulia O’Connell," Melody Thorne looked up at the handsome face above her. "Did you hear that?"
Jared Quinn had heard it before Melody did, gave a hum, "Ignore it."
"Why is she crying? Wasn’t she fine when we went to the beach earlier?" Melody Thorne was very curious. Considering Yulia O’Connell’s personality, she shouldn’t be crying; she was so willful and straightforward.
"I don’t know," Jared Quinn answered very indifferently.
Melody Thorne went to the window and looked outside. She was making a call, and whatever was being said on the other end caused her to alternate between excitement, tears, and laughter.
Meanwhile, Mortimer Moss seemed to be looking for her, squinted slightly when he saw her hiding alone to make a call, and walked over.
Yulia O’Connell noticed someone walking towards her and immediately hung up the phone, as if she was wary of Mortimer.
"Who were you calling?" Mortimer’s amber eyes stared into her slightly swollen eyes from crying.
Yulia’s features were very delicate, and having been pampered since childhood, her skin was very fair; any slight discomfort was clearly visible.
"Just an old childhood friend. She said she got married and had a son. Can’t I cry out of joy for her?" Yulia looked down, avoiding the man’s eyes in front of her,
because the moment their eyes met, he had a way of reading her mind and knowing if she was lying.
"Hand over the phone," Mortimer said casually.
"I am free, Mortimer. You have no right to boss me around, nor the right to check my privacy," Yulia’s emotions were somewhat agitated, and she hid her hands behind her back.
Mortimer stepped forward, and his large hand reached around her waist. Yulia spun around and lifted her leg to strike his waist. The man didn’t move, raising one hand to press her slender, white leg against the wall.
Yulia was wearing a long white dress, and with Mortimer’s motion, she immediately felt a breeze under her skirt, leaving her snowy legs exposed. The phone was long gone.
"Want to compete with me? Better practice your skills," Mortimer sneered coldly, releasing her leg and putting it back in place, but his tall figure kept pressing on her as his long fingers scrolled through her message content.
But he found nothing, as all the messages were blank, and even the call records were spotless. It was clear the woman beside him had deleted everything as soon as she saw him.
The more she hid, the more there was something up.
"Yulia O’Connell, do you think you can deceive me like this?" Mortimer tossed her phone back, raising her chin with his fingers. "You should know I can call back everything you deleted."
