Chapter 6: Forum

Blood splattered across the grass. The sound of flesh getting shredded echoed.

As the opponent’s lunge froze mid-leap and the blur around its body receded, its appearance was revealed.

A Red Hare Rabbit. More precisely, a Level 3 rabbit.

Yet as quickly as the prompt appeared, it also faded away.

"Killed Level 3 Red Hare Rabbit. EXP +1"

Although the Experience was minuscule, any amount of it should have been good.

Yet Aurelius hardly paid any attention to it.

He was fully immersed in the earlier feeling.

Perhaps out of instinct or perhaps because of the fear, he had subconsciously cast Spirit Bullet at the very last moment.

The results were surprising. Containing a power that far surpassed his own trusted dagger, it could be used both in range and up close.

The experience made Aurelius wish to cast Spirit Bullet a couple more times and experiment with its effects.

However, he quickly restrained himself.

The previous noise had attracted his guards’ attention, and the sound of clanging armor made it clear that they were rushing here.

Aurelius made a quick decision. Raising the dagger in his hand, he repeatedly stabbed at the Red Hare Rabbit’s corpse.

Within a few seconds, he had slashed and stabbed dozens of times. By the end, the Red Hare Rabbit was completely unrecognizable.

The bullet wound had disappeared amidst the mangled flesh and blood.

It was only then that the three guards arrived.

They glanced at Aurelius with concern, breathing a sigh of relief when they confirmed that he was uninjured.

Then, they looked at the Red Hare Rabbit in front of him.

A trace of surprise flickered across their eyes.

"Well done! Young Lord, to be able to kill a monster alone in your first outing, your potential is extraordinary."

"I’m afraid that once you obtain a suitable Class, you will become truly formidable," one of the guards praised.

His words made Aurelius speechless.

If he didn’t know any better, he would have believed he had not slain a weak rabbit, but a legendary dragon.

Despite this, a smile appeared on his face.

He didn’t blame the guards for their negligence.

It was not their fault.

If one had to say, the Red Hare Rabbit was simply too weak. Even a child could defeat it, and an adult faced absolutely no danger when facing them.

In the senses of his guards, the Red Hare Rabbit was akin to an ant.

Not only could it pose little threat to them, but the same was true for Aurelius, too. This was even though they believed that he was still an ordinary person.

But soon, Aurelius’ smile was replaced by a deep frown.

He glanced at the destroyed rabbit corpse, and a thought couldn’t help but arise in his mind.

’Is this the result of the Rabbit Killer Title?’

’A weak monster like the Red Hare Rabbit should have fled away rather than sneak attack me. Only an external influence could possibly change this deeply-imprinted racial behavior.’

With that thought, his face grew stern. He didn’t wait for the guards to say anything. Instead, he spoke up.

"Okay, I’ve already recovered from the previous exhaustion. Moreover, the sun will be setting soon," he said as he glanced at the dimming orange glow above his head.

"My mother will scold us if we don’t go back soon. Let’s go."

The three guards did not refuse. If anything, they breathed a sigh of relief inwardly.

Wandering in a forest filled with monsters was already troublesome, and even experienced Awakeners had to take care. Having to protect their "trash" young lord only made the experience even worse.

Back in Blood Sun City and the Sol family’s mansion, Aurelius exchanged a few greetings with his mother and briefly talked about his adventure.

After he took a bath and cleaned off the blood with the female maid’s assistance, he hurriedly returned to his room and shut the door behind him.

Settling down on the bed, he closed his eyes for several minutes and deliberately emptied his thoughts.

A cool sensation spread through his mind.

The pressure of everything that had happened today was slightly alleviated.

Half an hour later, Aurelius opened his eyes again. Compared to before, his pupils were far more vibrant and lively, and the tiredness had vanished.

The exhaustion of the earlier events had been washed off.

After confirming that no one would disturb him, he summoned the Player Panel again.

His Experience had already been consumed.

After killing the last Red Hare Rabbit, he currently had only 12 EXP, while advancing to Level 3 would require 300 EXP.

Aurelius focused on the final reward of the earlier Mission: the 1 Skill Point.

His gaze shifted toward the Abilities column.

Unfortunately, the skill he most wanted to upgrade—Awakener’s Physique—had no (+) button beside it.

’Upgrading it to Level 2 cost me one Skill Point. Level 3 cost two Skill Points.’

’Does Level 4 require me to consume three Skill Points?’ Aurelius guessed as his eyes moved toward the other two abilities.

Both had (+) buttons beside them. But with only a single Skill Point, Aurelius could only choose one of them to upgrade.

He rubbed his chin.

Spirit Bullet was currently his only offensive skill besides his physical strength. Upgrading it would directly improve his combat prowess.

On the other hand, Synthesis had yet to show its true value, though Aurelius suspected it was perhaps the most important skill of an Arcanist.

By selecting two or more skills or Talents, an Arcanist could fuse them into a brand-new item.

Although there was an element of luck involved, if the two selected skills were carefully chosen, there was a high likelihood that the result would be something useful.

Aurelius fell into thought. He carefully weighed his two options, unwilling to act rashly.

Yet just as he was about to settle on one, his expression suddenly shifted.

Right below the Player Panel, an intricate pattern had appeared.

Alongside it were several lines of text.
