Chapter 13: Accident

The bodies of the Red Hare Rabbits quickly broke apart under the effect of Transmutation.

Transforming into a thick, golden liquid, it started to gather in front of him and stretch like a web.

Aurelius sensed his Spirit being slowly consumed. Yet the results of such a consumption were immediately obvious.

The golden liquid slowly expanded and began to flow into the shape of armor.

At first, Aurelius found the process extremely taxing, both mentally and physically.

But as time passed, everything became increasingly easier.

After a few minutes, he even had the time to summon the Player Panel and observe the Transmutation skill.

A small bar had unknowingly appeared above it, progressing steadily with each passing second.

More than twenty percent of it had already been filled, and soon more of it followed.

’No wonder that poster praised the Alchemist Sub-Class so much.’

’Compared to other skills, including those of an Arcanist, improving the mastery of Transmutation is far more straightforward.’

Even so, Aurelius did not relax, remaining alert for any potential changes.

A quarter of an hour later, the golden liquid had almost grown solid under his control.

Yet the most important material had not been added.

Lifting his head, Aurelius looked at the Rabbit King’s remains.

With one hand still casting Transmutation, he stretched his other out and drew it toward him.

The golden light instantly washed over it.

Compared to the ordinary Red Hare Rabbits, which dissolved almost immediately, refining the Rabbit King was several times more difficult.

Similarly, the amount of Experience it provided to Transmutation had increased accordingly.

It took nearly half an hour.

By the time the process was over, Aurelius was covered in sweat.

Looking at the two distinct liquids, one golden and one crimson, he controlled each with a hand and brought them closer.

As the two made contact, the crimson slowly spread across the gold, creating a two-colored armor prototype.

Unfortunately, the integration did not proceed as smoothly as Aurelius hoped for.

A trace of resistance struck back.

His face turned pale.

Just as he was starting to believe that his first attempt at crafting a Relic would result in a failure, a prompt suddenly emerged.

"Transmutation has been upgraded to Level 2."

As soon as the chime rang inside his head, he immediately felt that the process had become much easier to control.

The rejection between the two materials vanished as he easily fused them together.

A few moments later, the golden light in his hands receded.

The item hidden beneath it was finally revealed—in its complete form.

It was an armor. Imposing and covered in crimson markings that resembled battle marks, it had several white veins running through its surface.

The armor glinted beautifully against the silver moonlight falling from above, as the silhouette of a red rabbit appeared to flash across its body.

Aurelius admired the Relic for several seconds.

After that, he focused his gaze on it, just as he did when he examined other people’s Levels.

The Player Panel did not disappoint him. Following a faint shimmer, the relevant description popped up.

...

[Red Hare Armor (Common Relic): The relic grants excellent defense to the Player while significantly improving their agility. In the face of a fatal blow, the armor can resist it at the price of self-destruction.]

[Effects:]

[+6 Vitality, +8 Agility]

[Durability: 100/100]

...

The stats it provided alone were enough to make this Relic extremely valuable.

At least for Rank 1 Awakeners like Aurelius, it was something that could significantly enhance their combat prowess.

As such, Aurelius did not hesitate. Grabbing the armor, he immediately put it on.

Despite its large size, the process went smoothly.

As Aurelius donned the armor, he instinctively sensed something.

His gaze grew odd as his mind moved.

The next second, the majestic crimson armor that made him look like a believer of the God of War faded away, as though he had placed it in the storage space.

However, Aurelius knew very well that he hadn’t.

The Red Hare Armor was still on him, weighing against his body. The only difference was that it had turned invisible. No one besides him could tell it existed.

’It’s worthy of being a Relic. No matter how powerful ordinary armor or an item is, they can never have the extraordinary power carried by Relics.’

And the Red Hare Armor was simply a Common Relic.

If it were any higher ranked, its power alone would be enough to shock most people.

Recalling the Epic weapon he had once glimpsed in his father’s library, a sense of yearning couldn’t help but rise within his heart.

Fortunately, he swiftly calmed down. Without taking off the Red Hare Armor, he summoned the Player Panel, intending to use the EXP he gained to upgrade his Arcanist Class further.

Then he planned to end today’s hunt and return to Blood Sun City.

As he watched the Level Up notifications, Aurelius’ face broke into a smile.

--

Silence shrouded Blood Sun City.

The sun had set long ago.

Besides the daring Awakeners who were brave enough to leave the city at this time, most people had locked themselves in their residences.

For the most part, night in Blood Sun City was peaceful.

But tonight, the arrival of two unknown figures was destined to break that peace.

--

In a dark alleyway in the northern part of the city, two dark silhouettes could be seen gliding through the streets.

Although similarly dressed—in black clothes and wearing masks—the two were not friends but rather enemies.

The two clashed several times in the span of a few seconds.

The shorter figure wielded two silver daggers and attempted to stab their enemy, while the taller one fought using its bare fists.

Weapons versus mere physical strength. The outcome should have been sealed from the very beginning.

But the final result defied expectations.

The taller figure suddenly punched their enemy on the abdomen before following up with a flurry of punches and kicks.

Soon, the opponent found themselves sprawling across the floor, their consciousness rapidly dissipating.

The victor, however, had no time to celebrate.

"Po—poison!" A hoarse voice escaped their lips as they struggled to speak, glancing at the green blood flowing out of their wounds with horror.

Their vision grew blurry. The next moment, they collapsed to the ground just like the enemy.

The mask shattered as their head slammed against the floor, revealing the male face full of despair hidden behind it.

But before that despair could take root, it suddenly turned into hope. From the corner of his eye, the fallen man caught the outline of a male figure.

Sensing the other party’s lack of extraordinary strength, a hint of excitement flashed in his eyes.

Activating the Relic that had long merged with his body, he launched a desperate attack.
