Chapter 1379: Chapter 1379: Very Scheming

As soon as the officer spoke, the banquet was thrown into an uproar, filled with shock and disbelief. The well-dressed, renowned figure within the Eastern Consortium turned out to be a murderer, guilty of so many acts of corruption and bribery. It was unbelievable—impossible to imagine he was such a person!

"Nonsense! This is slander! Who accused me?" Jun Shi roared furiously, his face twisted in rage, yelling hysterically.

"That’s not something you need to worry about. Without evidence, we wouldn’t issue an arrest warrant. Mr. Jun, if you won’t cooperate, don’t blame us for being unkind!"

Jun Shi turned his fiery gaze back, glaring venomously at Ye Lu: "It’s you. It must be you, you wretched woman, pulling strings behind my back."

Ye Lu’s expression remained calm, and she showed no hint of guilt: "I don’t know anything about this. I’ve been so busy with my competition I hardly have time for anything else. How could I be involved? Besides, I have always respected you as my elder. Even when you smear my name, I’ve never said anything in retaliation. And yet, now you try to pin this on me. I’m truly hurt!"

"You’re faking it! You damned woman, still putting on an act!"

This time, Huffman spoke directly, "Regardless of the truth, officers, please take him away!"

A few Eastern officers subdued the raging Jun Shi and dragged him out.

The dramatic reversal of events stunned everyone present. Guests exchanged bewildered glances, then looked at Ye Lu. Jun Shi—a murderer, the credibility of his accusations was doubtful. All the slander he hurled at Ye Lu earlier was likely fabricated.

As for Ye Lu, this Miss Hua always carried herself with composure and grace. Ever since Jun Shi publicly defamed her in the newspapers, she had not stooped to retaliation or exposed herself to disgrace. Even now, she refrained from exploiting the situation, nor did she rush to defend herself. She truly embodied a dignified air!

"It seems Miss Ye Lu was wrongfully accused. These officers arrived just in time; otherwise, Miss Ye Lu wouldn’t have been able to clear her name," an assistant couldn’t help but remark.

Huffman’s face darkened, his eyes reflecting a deeper meaning: "Do you really think it was mere coincidence that they showed up just in time?"

He looked at the unruffled young woman on stage, thinking to himself—he had underestimated her previously. He assumed her demeanor was vengeful, avoiding conflict under Jun Shi’s aggressive assault, too intimidated to respond.

He had been wrong, terribly wrong. This young woman was the type to remain silent until striking with unforgettable impact. She had calculated everything in advance, doing nothing until the opportune moment for a decisive counterattack. Without a word, she dismissed all the taint on her reputation. And in doing so, she unknowingly portrayed herself as graceful, magnanimous, and leadership-worthy—someone who could win the investors’ admiration!

But the timely arrival of these Eastern officers—how could it truly be coincidental?

Surely, all of this was orchestrated by her behind the scenes.

He couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of admiration, recognizing her courage and intellect, her audacity and cunning. More importantly, her tactics were clean, precise, and flawless!

Yiren’s delicate face was twisted with displeasure as she watched Ye Lu recover from impending disaster, not only clearing her name but flipping the situation entirely. Such fortune was maddening, while Jun Shi—the pawn she counted on—had become useless.

Jun Shi, that insufferable fool—how could he have screwed up this badly?

Her eyes turned icy as she glared at Ye Lu on the stage, secretly clenching her fists. She refused to be afraid. No matter if Ye Lu cleared her name, what mattered most in choosing a successor was capability. Based on Ye Lu’s recent achievements, she couldn’t even measure up to the tip of her own fingers.

She would still prevail.

"I believe that for an outstanding company, the foundation and growth are the most important aspects. Long-term interests will always outweigh immediate gains!" Ye Lu began her speech on stage. Her expression was serene and composed, her voice clear yet vibrant with energy and confidence. Unconsciously, even the investors seated below couldn’t take their eyes off her, attentively listening to her presentation!
