Chapter 418: Chapter 242: Two-Faced, Tolerant’s Inauguration
On Copper Heart, he found the Professional Tier certification office. The place was simply furnished, didn’t take up much space, and was sparsely staffed.
The certification process was simple. A scan from a special machine determined his Professional Tier in just a few moments.
"You’re really Tier Five?"
When he emerged from the room, the official waiting outside looked astonished. "And a Double Fifth Tier?"
"Yes," Su Chen nodded. "Thank you, Steward Zhang."
Steward Zhang looked like he wanted to say something more but held his tongue. He escorted Su Chen out of the certification office and watched him leave, unable to stop himself from muttering, ’His age just doesn’t add up. How could someone with a Dual Ink Jade Talent possibly reach this level? It’s too strange.’
...
「On Qin Tianlin’s Floating Island」
The glow on the surface of the Nether Tower gradually faded.
BAM! The doors of the Nether Tower burst open.
Fan Zhao stormed out of the Nether Tower, his expression grim. Seeing this, Qin Tianlin, who was standing nearby, couldn’t help but ask, "What did Qin Yuezheng have to say?"
"What else could he say?" Fan Zhao’s expression was foul. "The same old excuse. He claims they’re short on manpower and are trying to figure out how to clear the nearby Netherworld Creatures. He said if I’m in such a hurry, I can find someone else to help."
"Damn it all!" Fan Zhao cursed. "Funny how they weren’t ’short on manpower’ when it came to Shen Yi’an’s Spiritual Fire a while back."
"Qin Yuezheng..." Qin Tianlin snorted. "So eager to go kiss Chu Lingyuan’s ass."
"Hmph. It’s all because Chu Lingyuan has a student with a Star Seed," Fan Zhao said sharply. "Wei Zhenghong and Shen Yi’an are on good terms, too. I heard he met with Su Chen right away, and it seems they had a very pleasant chat."
"Our Master isn’t dead yet! It’s too soon for them to be turning their backs on us!"
At these words, Qin Tianlin’s expression soured. Beside them, Meng Shiyu was frantically trying to signal him with his eyes.
Only after he finished venting did Fan Zhao realize what he’d said, and his expression grew a little awkward.
’This oaf...’ Qin Tianlin thought, speechless. He decided to change the subject. "If all else fails, we’ll just have to ask for help."
"It’s not that easy to find someone," Fan Zhao said, frowning deeply. "The Nether Realm requires a Tier Nine Mental Professional."
As everyone knows, Mental Professions are somewhat more difficult to master than those of the Physical Side.
Within the Sect, there are plenty of Tier Nine Professionals on the Physical Side, but far fewer on the Spiritual Side.
As for those at the Chairman’s level, they don’t have the authority to order them around.
Qin Tianlin thought for a moment, then said, "I remember the Lan Family has a Tier Nine Mental Professional. Lanhai is currently in a stalemate with the Wan Family, vying for the position of Commander of the Church Army. He approached my grandfather for help before, but my grandfather never made him any promises."
"To owe such a significant favor, all for a single Spiritual Fire," Fan Zhao said, sounding resentful.
Qin Tianlin shook his head. "We wouldn’t have to promise him our full support. We’d merely be showing which way we lean, that’s all. I’m sure if we make the first move, he won’t refuse."
Relationships within the Sect were labyrinthine, with lineages stretching back for generations. Furthermore, internal competition was always kept within certain bounds, so there were no true blood feuds.
It was common for families that were rivals a century or two ago to become allies a couple of centuries later.
"The Lan Family... Fine." Hearing this, Fan Zhao seemed to accept it was their only option. He then turned to Meng Shiyu. "Has Su Chen replied yet?"
Meng Shiyu sighed helplessly. "I contacted him through an intermediary. Their response was that Su Chen has important matters to attend to and can’t get away."
Fan Zhao snorted. "What ’important matters’ could he possibly have? He just got here..."
Meng Shiyu felt a little disgruntled himself. ’It’s true that Qin Yun was planning to move against Su Chen, but besides stirring up some rumors before his arrival and having Hu Qi make a move, they haven’t done anything since Su Chen actually got here.’
’Hu Qi is dead now. Maybe Fan Zhao was trying to intimidate him, but Su Chen doesn’t know that. Hasn’t he even considered the possibility of smoothing things over?’
’Refusing to even meet once... that’s a pretty hardline stance.’
’But with Su Chen’s momentum at its peak and Qin Yun away, if he refuses to come, there’s really nothing we can do about it.’
Qin Tianlin glanced at Fan Zhao, feeling a bit resentful himself. ’We never should have invited Su Chen in the first place,’ he thought. ’Now we’ve just brought this embarrassment upon ourselves.’
But he understood his martial uncle’s personality, so he could only say, "There’s still plenty of time. We don’t need to stoop to his level."
"Hmph." Fan Zhao snorted. Things weren’t going well with the Nether Realm, and they weren’t going well with Su Chen either.
’I took on a special profession and was only in seclusion for three or four months. How did the whole situation outside change so drastically?’
"When Master returns, she’ll have a way to deal with them." And by "them," Fan Zhao didn’t just mean Su Chen.
Just then, Meng Shiyu glanced at a message on his wristband. His expression changed to one of surprise, and he blurted out, "Su Chen has advanced to Tier Five. And he’s a Double Fifth Tier."
"Double Fifth Tier?" Qin Tianlin’s expression shifted. "How could he be so fast?" he asked, shocked. "What profession did he advance to?"
"I’m not sure." Meng Shiyu shook his head uncertainly. "I do know he requested the files for two Upper-tier Professions from the Spirit Hall, but he couldn’t possibly have qualified for them. It’s most likely a Top-tier Profession he brought with him from Red Thunder Star."
"Tier Five... at his age..." Meng Shiyu couldn’t help but add, "Is he really a Dual Ink Jade Talent? I don’t know... this speed just doesn’t seem right."
"Where did the news about his Dual Ink Jade Talent come from, anyway?" Qin Tianlin suddenly asked, his brow furrowed.
"I don’t know. Everyone says he has an Ink Jade Talent. I think it came from Master Qing," Meng Shiyu said hesitantly.
"Qing Cang..." Qin Tianlin’s expression changed. A thought suddenly struck him. ’Qing Cang didn’t lie to us, did he? What if he doesn’t actually have an Ink Jade Talent?’
"But..." Meng Shiyu’s expression wavered. "Why would he need to do that?"
Qin Tianlin’s expression was grim and uncertain. "What if we had attacked him over his Dual Ink Jade Talent, only for the truth to be revealed later that he’s not Ink Jade at all, but Scarlet, or even has a Profound Purple Talent? Wouldn’t that mean Qing Cang had completely turned the tables on us?"
