Chapter 12: The Untamed Goddess and the Broom Master
The pale blue aura radiating off Kaelen’s steel broadsword caused the ambient temperature in the kitchen to drop significantly as the furious guard scrambled to his feet.
He was entirely blinded by the humiliating sting on his cheek and the absolute shock of being struck down in front of the beautiful woman he was trying to impress. In his rage fueled mind Leon was no longer just a lowly commoner but a legitimate target that needed to be permanently erased from existence to restore his shattered pride.
"I am going to completely sever your limbs and feed your pathetic carcass to the estate hounds!" Kaelen screamed while raising his heavy sword high above his head with both hands.
Elara finally snapped out of her dazed stupor and aggressively stepped forward with her heavy iron cleaver raised in a desperate attempt to protect the foolish boy who had just defended her honor.
She knew Leon was somehow getting stronger but facing an active Aura Knight with a wooden cleaning tool was pure suicide.
"Stand down immediately Kaelen!" Elara shouted with genuine panic lacing her sultry voice. "If you spill blood in this kitchen the noble family will have you hanged in the courtyard before noon!"
Kaelen completely ignored her highly logical warning and lunged forward with a devastating overhead strike aimed directly at the center of Leon’s skull.
The pale blue aura trailing behind the blade created a deadly crescent of magical energy that promised to cleave the scrawny servant entirely in half.
This was where Leon should have panicked or scream or beg for mercy like he often did.
He did not.
His newly acquired Basic Close Quarters Combat skill seamlessly synchronized with his twenty five Agility points to slow his perception of the incoming attack down to a highly manageable speed.
He clearly saw the massive tactical flaw in Kaelen’s enraged and completely unbalanced swing.
Instead of stepping backward to avoid the lethal blade Leon boldly stepped directly inside the guard’s guard and pivoted his hips with trained precision.
The glowing broadsword violently crashed into the cobblestone floor exactly where Leon had been standing just a fraction of a second prior and sent a massive shower of stone shrapnel flying across the room.
Before Kaelen could violently wrench his stuck weapon out of the cracked floor Leon aggressively drove the blunt wooden handle of his broom directly upward into the unprotected gap under the guard’s steel breastplate.
The concentrated strike carried the full weight of Leon’s superhuman twenty five Strength and violently slammed into Kaelen’s solar plexus with a sickening thud.
All the air immediately aggressively evacuated Kaelen’s lungs in a highly undignified wheeze. His pale blue aura completely shattered like fragile glass as his novice core lost all focus and his heavily armored body violently folded entirely in half.
Leon did not give the bully a single moment to recover his breath.
He smoothly spun on his heel and delivered a perfectly executed sweeping kick to Kaelen’s armored shin which sent the gasping guard crashing back down onto the floor in an incredibly pathetic heap of tangled limbs and dented steel.
The entire kitchen staff was completely paralyzed by the astonishing display of martial prowess.
The frail and heavily bullied floor sweeper had just effortlessly dismantled a magically enhanced soldier without taking a single scratch.
Elara slowly lowered her meat cleaver while her amber eyes traced the newly confident lines of Leon’s posture and a highly confusing wave of intense heat suddenly bloomed deep within her lower stomach.
"I believe I told you to watch your step earlier this week, Elara is off limits," Leon casually remarked while looking down at the groaning guard rolling around on the floor.
Leon never told him such a thing, if he did he would have been a corpse long before his system awakened. However he would not miss an opportunity to sell this.
Before Kaelen could try to summon enough breath to form a pathetic excuse the massive oak doors leading to the grand hallway were suddenly violently thrown open.
An incredibly overwhelming and suffocating wave of pure crimson aura instantly flooded the entire kitchen and forced every single person in the room directly onto their knees.
The sheer gravitational pressure of the magical energy was so intensely terrifying that the heavy iron pots actually began to rattle violently against the stone walls.
Leon felt his minor aura resistance desperately struggling to keep him upright but he still found himself heavily leaning on his wooden broom just to avoid collapsing under the monumental weight of the newcomer’s power.
Walking through the doorway with the casual grace of a predatory apex feline was Lady Seraphina Sterling the eldest daughter and the undisputed martial prodigy of the noble house.
She was currently wearing her scandalously tight leather combat suit from her morning training session which left absolutely nothing to the imagination.
The dark leather perfectly clung to her impossibly generous chest and her incredibly wide hips while leaving her toned midriff completely exposed to the cool air. Her long waterfall of silver hair cascaded down her back and framed a face so ethereally beautiful and fiercely arrogant that it physically hurt to look directly at her.
Seraphina’s piercing violet eyes slowly scanned the chaotic scene of the shattered floorboards and the groaning guard before finally locking entirely onto Leon managing to stand triumphantly with his broom.
The heavy crimson aura violently retracted back into her perfect body in an instant and left the kitchen staff gasping desperately for air.
"Would someone care to explain why a low ranking guard is currently bleeding on my kitchen floor while a common floor sweeper is holding a broom like a master swordsman?" Seraphina demanded in a voice that sounded like smooth velvet wrapped around a highly sharpened steel blade.
Kaelen weakly tried to push himself up onto his elbows to beg for forgiveness but Seraphina completely ignored his pathetic existence.
She slowly walked directly toward Leon with her leather boots clicking rhythmically against the stone tiles and stopped less than two feet away from his face. Up close her terrifying beauty was incredibly overwhelming and Leon could actually smell the faint intoxicating scent of ozone and sweat lingering on her glowing skin.
He heavily relied on his twenty Charisma points and his passive Piercing Gaze to meet her intense violet stare without immediately looking away in pure submission.
Seraphina raised a perfectly sculpted silver eyebrow in genuine surprise because she had never met a common male servant who possessed the sheer audacity to look her directly in the eyes.
[DING!]
The crystal bell violently chimed in Leon’s skull and illuminated the space between him and the untamed goddess with a highly obnoxious neon pink glow.
