Chapter 677: *Extra reward*
This time the result was completely different, and the evil beings, even by joining hands, couldn’t fight against the Chains of Restraint that were destroying any attacks made of black particles as soon as they appeared.
Their speed, strength, and resistance to the black particles were increased by the Blessing magic of the Angels and the Divine energy that Elias had sent into them.
After only a few minutes, all three evil beings were held by the Chains of Restraint, completely unable to use their powers.
They also couldn’t flee nor ask their subordinates to come to save them, as the most powerful of them were still fighting on another battlefield, and they couldn’t contact them no matter which means they used.
Neither the communication stones nor the telepathic link that they shared with some of them was working, and Kevin then told them, "It is pointless; no matter what you try, the Chains of Restraint won’t let you communicate with your subordinates, and as you have all felt it, they are also restraining your powers."
Kevin, now that the situation was under control and that Elias... and probably Miguel too, were watching over him, was able to focus on the spell using the Swallower of Shadows’ unique magic, as he had no idea how to proceed to absorb their shadows.
Fortunately, as always, his System didn’t let him down, and he received a new notification that was quite useful.
[To use the Swallower of Shadows’ unique magic and absorb their shadows, you must activate the level 10 spell related to it just after killing one of them. Be aware that you can get only one Shadow at a time and that the Soul force points required to absorb them will be different depending on the level of the Shadow you want to absorb.]
Kevin smiled then and he was glad that Elias was there to protect him; otherwise, it could have been troublesome to activate this level 10 spell three times.
But as he only needed to focus on absorbing their Shadows, it was fine. Kevin then approached and made a Golden short sword appear, made from the Golden particles, and plunged it into the energy source of the General Wizard first.
If he were to fail, that was the only one he could afford to lose, as he was already able to summon dead creatures.
Kevin then activated the level 10 spell using the Swallower of Shadows’ unique magic, and a notification was displayed immediately.
[Swallower of Shadows’ unique magic activated; General Wizard Shadow detected. Requires 40,000 Soul force points to be absorbed. Do you want to absorb this Shadow? Yes/No]
Kevin obviously accepted it, and then another message appeared on the holographic screen of his System.
[CONGRATULATIONS]
You have just absorbed your first Shadow; remaining space 99/100.
You earned a unique level 10 spell, Summoning Dead Pegasus.
Kevin widened his eyes when he saw that, and since Elias was looking at him, Kevin told him that he had successfully absorbed the Shadow of the General Wizard and informed him about its unexpected rewards.
Elias then said to him, "Well, in one of the red dungeons, we indeed fought against Dead flying horses. They were very fast and could use the Evil Divine Element. These are great rewards, congratulations, son."
Kevin smiled upon hearing this, and so he killed the other two remaining evil beings using the same tactic.
Even though he needed 55,000 Soul force points to absorb the Shadow of the Necromancer and 80,000 to absorb the one of the Swallower of Shadows, he didn’t get any more extra rewards.
Once they were done, after successfully obtaining these three Shadows, they joined the others on the battlefield, and Kevin then flew at high speed to join Axel and Willow again.
When Kevin joined them, Willow was wielding her daggers, striking only at the green flames of the Skeletons. But he also saw her using her Sacred Fire energy when she couldn’t handle the number of Skeletons that were coming at her.
Axel then kissed Kevin’s cheek as they were both fighting to protect Willow’s back and said to him, "Our daughter is really gifted, don’t you think? See how she can handle these Skeletons protected by their armor? Wait, maybe you will be able to see her throw them at the ones holding bows."
Axel then told him that their daughter used their personal dimension to teleport wherever she wanted on the battlefield and that as soon as she threw her daggers, she teleported to get them back as soon as they destroyed the green flames of the Skeletons.
He also told him that their daughter was a very fast learner and that everyone came from time to time to give her advice. She assimilated them quickly and used them to become even more efficient.
Kevin could feel the pride that Axel was feeling watching their daughter fight, and he couldn’t help but be mesmerized by her.
After reporting everything to him, Axel then told him, "Babe, I have followed your every move, so I know what happened. Congratulations; these Shadows and those level 10 spells that you have copied will be really useful for us, and it is something that they won’t be able to predict."
Kevin smiled at him, and this time the pride that Axel was feeling was due to the fact that he was his husband, which really delighted him.
Now that he was there, Kevin reached out to Willow through their telepathic link, offering her valuable advice. He took the opportunity to help her refine her movements, enhancing both her strength and speed. After a few tries, Willow was thrilled; her Daddy’s guidance was truly the best.
She could feel the difference while fighting; she could use more strength and strike faster than before, thanks to a few changes that weren’t hard to make.
Her Daddy even promised her that he would personally teach her to wield her daggers as well as to use hidden weapons to defend herself if she had to engage in hand-to-hand combat.
