Chapter 372: *You wanted more action, you’re going to get it !*
Once everything was picked up, Kevin asked Axel, "How many rooms are there?"
Axel then used his mother’s bloodline, which was much more powerful than before since he had evolved into a divine Werewolf, and he said to Kevin with a frown, "Just one more before the dungeon boss. I still can’t feel the presence of the summoned creatures, but there are 7 summoners in the next room, so there should be a lot of them... Has the number of summoned creatures increased yet?"
Kevin shook his head and told him, "Not yet... Axel, we are still too far away from them. I can’t use my Chains of Restraint from here to block them; we will have to move as quickly as possible."
Axel shook his head then and told him, reminding him, "The tunnel to get there is very small, so we won’t be able to move very fast. By the way, your men still aren’t used to running like us, so we need to adapt our speed to them."
Mykael, who had been standing close to them, then said, "Axel is right; we can’t go too fast in this tunnel. Let’s go; we have already emptied this room anyway. If by any chance there is high-grade Verarium in the next room, it will take you a while to get it out, and for once, we don’t have much time."
Kevin nodded, and when Axel saw that everyone had regrouped around them, he told them to follow him.
Just after they entered the tunnel that led them to the next room, Kevin received warning messages from his system.
[ WARNING ]
Number of summoned creatures increased by 200. Optional Quest 2 update: 76 / 1,200
[ WARNING ]
Number of summoned creatures increased by 150. Optional Quest 2 update: 76 / 1,350
Kevin swore and then said, turning around to look at his men: "Theo, you wanted more action; you are going to get it. Their number has just increased by 350, and I still can’t block them, damn it!"
Axel then said to him, "You should be able to feel them soon; we are getting closer, get ready."
As he said this, he stood in front of him and said through their telepathic link, "Get on my back; it will be easier for you to focus on them... And if I don’t carry you as usual, it’s only because your men are here, and I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable."
Kevin immediately climbed on his back, and after giving him a quick kiss on the back of his neck, he said to him, "Yeah, you should avoid doing this while my men are around, or it’s going to really piss me off."
Then, he deployed his senses to the fullest, and as soon as he spotted the energies of the 7 summoners, he unleashed his Chains of Restraint, which went full speed to imprison them.
Kevin then said to him through their telepathic link, "It’s done. Too bad we couldn’t move faster in this narrow tunnel; they wouldn’t have had time to summon other creatures if we had been quicker."
Axel said to him, still using their link, "In any case, your men are not used to moving at the same speed as us, and even if they adapt rather quickly, they are far from being able to follow us."
He then added, "But that’s not a bad thing. As Theo pointed out, a few more summoned creatures won’t hurt us; after all, we are nine to fight. It’s a good thing my father doesn’t participate in the battles, or it wouldn’t even be fun anymore."
He heard Kevin’s laughter in his head, and after another 10 minutes, they finally arrived in front of the largest room he had seen so far. He immediately asked Kevin, "How many are there?"
Kevin immediately read them the summary that the system had just sent him.
[ SUMMARY ]
7 Warrior Wizards
224 Dead Wizards
643 Dead Knights
Mathias whistled when he saw the huge room, which must have been as large as 5 or 6 soccer fields, filled with these summoned creatures, and he said, "This time, we won’t step on each other’s toes; we will wait for your signal, boss."
Before giving it to them, Kevin looked at Mykael, and when he saw him nod his head, he immediately felt reassured. He knew he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to anyone, so Kevin finally said to them, "This room is big enough for everyone, so spread out a little bit so you won’t get in each other’s way."
As soon as he said that, he rushed into the room, followed immediately by Axel, Alan, and Erik, who had passed again into Stage 2.
Brice then held back Mathias and the others, and he said to them, forgetting his promise to keep his mouth shut, "And if we made a small contest just between us? The Dead Knights count for 1 point, and the Dead Wizards for 2 points."
Mason then said to him at once, "I’m in, but we better follow them quickly because they’re not kidding over there; they’re exterminating them."
Everyone nodded, and they hurried toward the remaining spaces while keeping a good distance from each other, as Kevin had suggested.
Mykael, once they were all gone to fight, nonchalantly leaned against the wall of the entrance while remaining vigilant.
As he watched them fight, he really felt like he was a babysitter. He had to intervene several times by creating shields around them when their bodyguards weren’t quick enough to stop all the fireballs coming at them. But overall, despite the sheer number of summoned creatures, they had all done very well.
Kevin’s men were already starting to use their chakra while fighting, which was really surprising because using chakra was very new to them. But thinking about it, and now that he knew his son-in-law a little better, he realized that he wouldn’t have wasted his time training men if they didn’t have exceptional skills and huge potential.
