Chapter 5: First Level Up
Anyone who had used them knew how fragile they were.
They bent and snapped easily.
Using them to kill zombies was basically asking to die.
These two zombies did not give Joo Joowon a single copper coin.
They only rewarded experience points, making him suspect that the very first zombie had somehow benefited from increased drop rates.
He did not dwell on it and only wanted to level up as quickly as possible.
After sharpening another mop handle, he arrived at the final apartment that contained zombies.
The continuous roars rose and fell from behind the door.
After removing the peephole and looking inside, Joo Joowon saw two zombies crowded near the entrance.
They both appeared middle aged.
They did not seem to be lovers but rather a married couple.
There was a bite mark on the woman’s neck, making it seem as though she had been infected by her husband.
For working people, midnight was the time when they were completely defenseless and asleep.
Releasing the apocalypse game at such a time was truly malicious beyond belief.
Who knew how many people who could originally have survived ended up dying without any preparation at all.
However, now was not the time for sighing over such things.
Because besides these two zombies, Joo Joowon could also hear other crashing sounds.
Clearly, there was still another zombie inside that had not come out yet.
Joo Joowon did not care much about it.
At worst, he could simply close the door again after killing the two zombies near the entrance.
The danger level was not particularly high.
So Joo Joowon repeated the same tactic once more.
Very quickly, he killed the zombie that had not been pinned down.
At the same time, a flash of white light appeared around his body.
He leveled up.
There was no time to check what had changed after leveling up.
Joo Joowon quickly killed the other zombie as well, slammed the door shut, sat down on the table, and opened his status panel.

Joo Joowon thought for a moment and, without much hesitation, assigned the attribute point to Agility.
Although Strength and Physique were his weak points, he had already considered it carefully.
A single point increase would not create any fundamental transformation.
Instead of trying to patch up weaknesses, it was better to make his strengths even stronger.
Agility would let him run faster and dodge zombie attacks more easily, so naturally it deserved priority.
There was a saying that went well.
When facing danger, as long as you can run faster than the people beside you, you will definitely survive longer than them.
He only had one life.
At the early stage, Joo Joowon planned to focus entirely on survival when allocating his points.
Other considerations could come later.
After adding the point, Joo Joowon did not feel any physical changes.
However, when he leveled up earlier, his entire condition had refreshed as though reset.
Unfortunately, experience points could not be saved and used like healing potions.
Only unused attribute points could be stored for emergency situations.
Since leveling up had restored his condition, Joo Joowon was not in a hurry to return home.
He carefully observed the apartment interior through the peephole.
The place was decorated warmly.
Clearly, no strangers lived here.
It was a family home.
Which meant the remaining zombie banging around inside might be a child?
Thinking of this, Joo Joowon’s spirits immediately lifted.
No matter what, a child should be easier to kill than an adult, right?
After all, this child zombie could not even break open a bedroom door.
Its strength definitely could not be high.
It also probably was not some kind of special ability zombie.
Joo Joowon reopened the apartment door.
The zombie tirelessly slammed against the bedroom door with loud banging sounds.
To stay cautious, he pushed the sofa against the bedroom doorway, leaving only a narrow gap.
Only then did he stand behind the door and slowly open it.
"Roar!"
The moment the bedroom door opened a crack, the small zombie impatiently tried to squeeze out.
However, zombies were not liquid creatures like cats.
No matter how hard it struggled, it could not force itself through the gap.
Instead, it became stuck there, with only its head exposed outside, unable to retreat or push forward.
"A welfare delivery?"
Joo Joowon froze for a moment, then immediately swung the fire axe without hesitation.
After several attacks, his movements had already become much more practiced.
This time, he directly gave the zombie a swift death.

At the moment the head fell to the ground, a gray pillar of light slowly rose from the corpse.

He immediately reached through the gap in the door and grabbed the card into his hand.

Joo Joowon immediately equipped the Beginner Shirt onto himself.
The appearance of the equipment was simply a white T shirt.
Bulky and layered over his padded coat, it looked no different from an ordinary T shirt.
He was somewhat concerned about the equipment description.
Judging from the wording, equipment without durability seemed to be considered trash?
But why?
If equipment had no durability, then there was no risk of it being damaged.
Was that not better?
The apocalypse game did not even provide a beginner tutorial, so Joo Joowon could only leave such questions for future exploration.
