Chapter 47: Dangerous Rain

At the very least, it never created the uncomfortable sensation of sleep paralysis.

The cat’s snoring was admittedly a little noisy.

However, after getting used to it, Joo Joowon no longer minded very much.

Besides, he himself occasionally ground his teeth while sleeping too.

Neither of them had the right to complain about the other.

Closing his eyes, Mind’s Eye continued operating independently, causing his surroundings to become even clearer instead.

Work had always exhausted him completely.

Even the clothes he wore daily were usually just identical styles in different colors rotated repeatedly.

Anything that saved time was good enough for him.

Because of that, aside from briefly washing his face each day, he rarely looked into mirrors at all.

It had already been a very long time since he carefully observed himself properly.

Only now did Joo Joowon realize that the increase in Physique stat actually produced fairly obvious changes.

Even his dark circles had disappeared.

His skin quality had improved noticeably too.

His skin carried a healthy bronze wheat colored glow.

That was the result of helping with farm work since childhood and constantly running around under the sun.

He had single eyelids and sharp phoenix shaped eyes.

Whenever he lacked expression, he naturally appeared somewhat fierce.

Combined with his tall height, this appearance had spared Joo Joowon from many troubles throughout his life.

Especially after starting work, whenever older employees tried dumping extra tasks onto him, they would often subconsciously choose another intern instead after being stared at by him for a short while.

Even though, at the time, he usually simply did not know how to refuse politely.

Still, this appearance carried disadvantages too.

Most people instinctively assumed he was difficult to approach at first glance.

Because of that, Joo Joowon had very few friends throughout his entire life.

Back when he was still in school, however, younger students occasionally came seeking him out specifically and insisted on recognizing him as their boss.

His gaze passed through the blanket and landed on his own body.

The soft muscles that had become loose due to lack of exercise had now tightened considerably.

The muscle lines were unexpectedly attractive enough to make people want to admire them.

Joo Joowon entertained himself through hardship and admired his own body for quite a while before finally shifting his gaze away.

There was actually money hidden underneath the mattress!

There was so much cat fur everywhere...

Wuwuwu, Byeol is secretly watching me.

It loves me so much!

A long while later, Joo Joowon opened his eyes in despair.

He genuinely wanted to properly rest and recover his energy through sleep.

However, he simply could not turn off Mind’s Eye.

Along with it, even his thoughts became increasingly active together with his constantly expanding vision.

Trying to make Mind’s Eye stop affecting his sleep was absolutely not something he could accomplish within a short amount of time.

Even though he understood that surviving the apocalypse required remaining vigilant even while sleeping, keeping his "eyes" open like this made it impossible to actually fall asleep.

Joo Joowon did not know whether this problem existed because the talent originated from equipment rather than himself, making it impossible to control as naturally as moving his own arms and legs.

After pondering for quite some time, he ultimately chose to remove Mind’s Eye and replace it with Sixth Sense, which could still provide warning abilities without interfering with his sleep.

Only then did he finally close his eyes.

Once his vision sank fully into darkness, Joo Joowon immediately felt comfortable throughout his entire body.

Very quickly, he drifted into sleep.

After removing Mind’s Eye, Joo Joowon finally managed to sleep peacefully all the way until the next morning.

Because the curtains remained tightly closed, the room was still dim and dark.

Only Byeol’s faintly reflective eyes stood out clearly within the darkness.

Joo Joowon pulled open a small gap in the curtains and looked outside.

The sky was clean and clear.

The anti theft bars installed over the windows divided the outside scenery into uneven diamond shaped sections.

Fine strands of rain drifted gently through the air, as though trying to wash away all the filth of the human world itself.

It was actually raining.

Joo Joowon became slightly dazed.

Even though the apocalypse had only begun three days ago, it already felt as though an entire lifetime had passed.

His sense of time had gradually become blurry.

His busy life of going to work every day now felt like something from an extremely distant past.

In his memories, this city often experienced rain during the transition between spring and summer.

Back then, those rainy days had brought him countless frustrations during his commute to work.

Yet now, seeing rain again, he found it difficult to hate it anymore.

The cat grass sitting on the windowsill had already started wilting slightly after three days without water.

Of course, Joo Joowon absolutely did not dare feed those plants to Byeol anymore.

After all, who knew whether they had mutated just like the zombies?

After staring outside for quite some time, Joo Joowon finally shut the window tightly, got dressed, and climbed out of bed.

Walking into the living room, he opened the mesh screen window, wanting to stretch his hand outside and touch the rainwater.

However, before he could even act, a sudden buzzing noise exploded within his brain.

Every cell in his body began resisting violently, transmitting intense signals of danger.

Joo Joowon quickly shut the window again, lingering fear remaining in his heart as his eyes instinctively shifted toward the Sixth Sense talent inside his talent panel.

So this was what the talent description meant by making it easier to detect hidden dangers lurking in the dark?

Joo Joowon truly had not expected something like this at all.

The rain simply looked far too normal and harmless.

It appeared completely identical to every ordinary rainy day he had ever seen before the apocalypse.

If anything, the air had actually become fresher and cooler because of the rainfall.
