Chapter 74: THANK YOU
Butler David was scared out of his wits when he heard the familiar voice.
Juliet narrowed her eyes towards Erika as she judged the simple but expensive casual clothes she was wearing.
Erika made eye contact with Mary who was glaring at her with so much hatred. ’Did I offend her?’ She wondered.
"You bitch! You have finally shown what you really are, huh? You divorced Adrian, now you are with Ethan Anderson", Mary spat out with disgust.
Erika scoffed with a smile. This woman is really troublesome, just look at how she changed the whole story, Erika thought to herself.
Ethan glared at the two women who had just interrupted and insulted his woman. "If I may ask, don’t you know that you are not supposed to bark in a restaurant? This is not a pound", he asked them both with an intimidating voice.
That insult made Juliet clench her fist tightly as she dug her nails in her skin while Mary immediately kept her mouth shut. She knew who was sitting with Erika but Juliet probably didn’t. When she saw the anger in her daughter’s eyes, she quickly held her back.
"Oh my! Mr Anderson, I am assuming you are not well acquainted with Erika here but I have many things to tell you about her", Mary tried to ruin Erika’s image.
"Leave", Ethan demanded.
Ethan’s tone was heavy and firm, leaving no room for arguments.
"But..." Juliet was about to protest but her mother quickly dragged her away from there.
When the mother daughter duo reached their car, Mary flung Juliet’s hand that she was holding. "What is wrong with you? Don’t you know whom you were about to argue with? That’s Ethan Anderson, Juliet. Ethan Anderson!" Mary repeated as if wanting to knock some sense into her daughter’s head.
"But why is Erika with that man?" Juliet questioned her mother.
"Obviously, it’s because she seduced him, what else?" Mary replied.
"She is so disgusting", Juliet spat out.
"Now am worried she might use Ethan Anderson’s power to try to destroy us", Said Mary which got her daughter to give her a look.
"Erika is not that smart mom. Yes, she had changed her mode of dressing which looks lavish now but she is still a poor girl with a poor brain. Besides, we never did her any wrong and also, she is just squandering money, that’s all", Juliet stated. Mary thought the same too and agreed.
The both of them entered their car and drove off to their main destination.
Back inside the restaurant, Butler David was staring at Erika with questionable eye. "Did she see the report?" Butler David asked worriedly. Erika shook her head to indicate "no" and butler David released a sigh of relief.
"Mr David, I would like to ask a favor from you. Is it possible for you to bring all the things that the late matriarch uses?" Both Erika and butler David looked at Ethan questioningly. "Things like shampoo or cream. If possible the soap as well".
"I kept all of her belongings in the attic after she passed away but am not sure if those things you are asking for would be part of them", Butler David responded. "But why do you need them?"
Ethan looked at Erika who held a curious expression before he answered, "I just have a hunch that they could be helpful in finding out the thing that deteriorated the matriarch’s health. Probably the substance was put in there or in her food".
Erika thought about what Ethan said and realized that it could be possible.
"I am not sure that her shampoo or cream would be part of those things but I will check. They could be in one of those boxes that we put all her things in". Even though Mary had asked him to throw away grandma Elizabeth’s belongings when she died, he couldn’t find it in his heart to do it so he had secretly put everything in a box and arranged them up in the attic since no one goes there.
Ethan nodded at Butler David. Erika thanked Butler David for coming over to lend his help but she couldn’t help but worry about what Mary might do to him. Hopefully, she won’t cause him harm. She had already told him that if she does cause him harm then he should contact her immediately. Butler David nodded at her words and left.
The table that the three of them were sitting on was beside the transparent glass of the restaurant that could permit a person from the inside to see outside and likewise.
Erika watched butler David enter the car and it zoomed away. "Now we have to get Michael to check those reports", Ethan said.
"Yes, I will text him now". Erika brought out her phone from her bag and texted Michael. It would be a bad idea to call him now because he could be in an operating room.
When she was done, she put her phone back into her bag. She stared at Ethan who was casually sipping from the juice he ordered earlier. Because she was sitting right next to him, she was able to clearly make out his exquisite side profile which included his smooth forehead, straight nose and the sharpest jawline she had ever seen.
"Thank you", she mumbled softly.
"What are you thanking me for?"
"I’m thanking you for coming here with me today even though you were extremely busy", she replied gratefully.
Ethan faced her and stared into her eyes before he spoke with a seriously tone.
"I would drop anything just to help you so this is nothing. I will help you no matter what and I am glad that we are one step forward to finding out the truth".
Erika smiled at his words. Who was the person who said that Ethan was cold and distant? He is totally sweet and opposite from those rumors, she thought to herself.
The both of them didn’t stay there long either and went home. They were quite tired because immediately the private jet landed, the instantly went to the location.
