Chapter 39: NEW CEO
The old fatty didn’t understand what Erika meant by what she said but he didn’t care.
"If you do not leave this office this instant, I will call the security guards to kick you out", he threatened.
Erika smirked, "Mr Charles, I don’t think you have the right to do that anymore". She brought out some documents from her bag and showed it to him. "You are no longer the CEO here".
"Excuse me!" Mr Charles yelled again. His flappy face was as red as a tomato due to the anger that was boiling in his blood. He didn’t know who this woman was but how dare she come to his office and tell him he is no longer the CEO.
"To cut the meeting short, I am Erika Walters. And I have been assigned here by Felix Walters to replace you as the new CEO due to your fraudulent activities", she brought out another document that had proof of what she was saying.
Mr Charles blinked his eyes several times to be sure he was seeing clearly, he didn’t understand what was written in the documents because he was still in a fit of rage. He said,
"You are talking nonsense! Look here, I am giving you one more chance to leave or else".
Erika smiled at the man but didn’t bother to explain anymore, he would be the one doing the explanation.
Not any second longer, police barged into the office. Mr Charles eyes widened when he saw them.
"Officers, what are you doing here?"
"We have an arrest warrant for you Mr Charles, for embezzling the company’s money", said the officer who had more badges and seemed to be the captain. "Cuff him".
"What?! This is total nonsense! I didn’t do anything! You have no right to arrest me, I will sue all of you", he threatened as the officers dragged him away.
Erika handed the documents that contained the proof to the captain and he took it and he thanked her and left.
Erika took a good look at the office when she was alone. The office looked clean but some files scattered here and there. She saw the couch that had already been pressed down by the old fatty’s weight and she sighed.
Why would her father employ someone like that anyway? She asked herself.
Erika called the secretary and told her to hold an emergency board meeting. Although she is officially the new CEO, it still needs to be declared in front of the board of directors and also because she wants to see the faces of those people who run the company. She was sure that there must be other people around that she needs to discard. She also told the secretary to call the cleaner to rearrange the office. She also ordered some furnitures for the office, she didn’t want to use something that looked old. She wanted everything to be new.
The secretary, Eve was astonished when she heard that the lady will be their new CEO. She was quite happy about it and immediately did every thing that she was asked to do.
In about 10 minutes time, the board of directors have already arrived. They all rushed as quickly as possible when they received the email that the CEO was being replaced.
Erika went to the meeting room and saw them all, imprinting their faces in her head one by one.
The board of directors stared at the young lady who just walked into the meeting room. She walked elegantly with a gentle smile on her face. The aura that surrounded her didn’t emanate either coldness nor kindness but a mixture of the two.
Erika greeted everyone and began, "Hi, am Erika Walters. And I am appointed as the new CEO of this company, Walters Corporations".
After those words left her lips, numerous murmurs sounded in the office. "Who do you think you are to replace our CEO, where is he anyway? Why is he not here?" a loud voice asked. Erika looked at the person’s direction and it landed on a old fatty as expected, whose belly was big enough to weigh break the chair he was sitting on.
"He is not here because he had been jailed for embezzling the company’s money", she replied calmly not taking offense to his first question.
After she said that, some of the board of directors immediately cowered and Erika was quick to notice it while some had a smile on their faces.
"That can’t be!" Another person said who was different from the first person. This time it was a woman who looked to be around her mid forties and was dressed in an expensive attire. "Do you have any proof of that accusation?"
Erika held up the documents she had been holding since she walked in and held it up closely enough for them to read it clearly. It was a copy of what she had given the police officer earlier. She didn’t need to say anything about it.
The woman who spoke earlier shook her head, "This is absolute nonsense! Mr Charles has been the CEO here for nearly a decade and he can’t do anything like that", she defended Mr Charles.
Erika only smiled at her words. "This here has already been proven by his bank record and transactions. It’s states here that Mr Charles takes 40% profit instead of 20% that he was supposed to take. I don’t know what he uses the remaining 20% to do or....." she drawled, "who he gives it to" she said and looked at everyone intently and some refused to make eye contact with her.
The woman who wanted to sway the truth earlier quickly shut her mouth and looked down. She didn’t want to say anything anymore and make herself a suspect. After a few words were exchanged with most of them being refusal to accept the truth, the meeting was adjourned and Erika went back to her office and noticed that it had been neatly cleaned and arranged like she had requested. The only thing that remains now are the new furnitures which will arrive in a few days. She took out her phone and called Felix to update him.
