Chapter 382: MEETING
Inside the neatly arranged large office, Ethan worked on the documents that were piled up on his desk with a huge frown on his face when he suddenly heard a knock on his door.
He hissed in annoyance but still responded,
"Sir, I’ve done the research you’ve asked me to do and this is the report," Peter said as he entered the office.
Ethan collected the file, opened it up immediately and read through the words written on it as if his life depended on it.
"According to the report sir, she is the owner of that company but she had someone take over as the CEO while she controlled everything in the company from the shadows. Hee last partners in business were the Wilson’s corporations, which was about a year ago and since then, they haven’t partnered with any other company even though some have been sending partnership requests," Peter summarized every word in the document and Ethan nodded in understanding.
"What time did she come back to the country?" Ethan asked, his eyes still on the document.
"Only six months ago, sir."
Ethan paused, he looked up at Peter in confusion.
"How can that be? Most of our partners have left our company and decided to partner with his company a year ago and she’s just back in the country six months ago?" He asked, confused.
Peter nodded. "It seemed that she had asked the fake CEO of his company to try to buy our partners while he was still abroad, sir. And after six months, she decided to come back to the country after so long." Peter explained the possibility of the whole issue.
Ethan looked back down at the document and saw the picture of his old-time friend, Jennie Wilson, pasted in the document. He glared at it, mumbling out, "You are finally back."
Facing Peter, he asked, "Has any more of our partners decided to leave us?"
"Yes, sir. Two more sold their shares in the company and said that the Wilsons were much better than our company," Peter replied.
"Who and who?"
"Mr Franco and Mr Will."
At the mention of those names, Ethan heaved a sigh of relief, not completely bothered with the loss of the two partners of his business.
"They were asking for 5% each if we wanted them to continue to stay with us. I refused since that was too much since they already had 10% each. They mentioned that the Wilson’s corporation promised them 10% extra if they joined them and after several arguments, they decided to sell their shares," Peter added and released a tired sigh at the end of his sentence.
"I see..." Ethan mumbled, turning to the last page of the document that had the picture of the corporation building which was a little smaller than the Andersons. "In that case, set up a meeting with Jennie for me. It’s obvious he’s doing all of these because he wants to see me in person but since he’s not brave enough to set up a meeting, I will do that."
Peter nodded in understanding and said,
"I will do that as soon as possible, sir."
He got a signal to leave the office from
Ethan but suddenly halted when he remembered something. Turning to face Ethan, he said,
"Mrs Anderson came here yesterday, and asked me how the company was doing, if there were any problems at hand, or if the workload was too much. From her tone, it seems to be that she was worried about something but I’m not sure what."
Ethan sighed and pinched the skin in between his temples.
"Whenever Erika comes here and asks you anything, just tell her everything is fine. We don’t have any issues at hand. Don’t mention anything about Jennie Wilson. Just reply with a smile," he instructed and Peter nodded again before leaving.
As soon as the door was jammed closed, Ethan leaned in on his chair and released the heaviest sigh with his eyes closed as he raised his head.
After a few minutes passed in that position he was in, Ethan opened the file again and read through the words as if he didn’t believe what he’d read the first time.
"After so long, you decided to come back here to cause me trouble? What an ingrate," he mumbled with distaste laced in his tone. He glared at the picture as if he wanted it to burn at that moment.
Not long after, Peter walked back inside the office with a worried face.
"What happened this time?" Ethan asked as soon as he saw him.
Whenever Peter held such a face, it only meant something bad had happened. It had been his usual expression since they started to lose business partners to the Wilson Corporation.
"I just contacted the secretary of the Wilson corporation and they said that Ms.Wilson is currently unavailable to take meetings at the moment."
"In that case, why don’t we go to see her right now? I bet she wouldn’t be busy to see us," Ethan suggested as he stood up from his seat, grabbed his suit, and headed out of the office before Peter could think of something.
Running behind him, Peter said,
"Sir, it would be inappropriate to go over there without an appointment."
Ethan paused, turned to glare at Peter and the latter only wished that he didn’t say what he had just said.
"You think I don’t know that?" Ethan questioned him.
"I’m sorry sir but it might ruin your reputation if you go there unannounced."
Ethan hissed and continued to walk towards the elevator. They arrived at the private elevator, and took the car down the road, heading to the Wilson Corporation.
After some time, they arrived at the front of the building that spelled out Wilson Corporation.
Ethan got out of the car and marched inside without waiting for Peter.
As soon as the guards saw Ethan, they bowed and allowed him inside. Since he was an influential man, they believed he was a friend of their main boss.
The receptionist tried stopping Ethan but Peter went over to her and lied about having an appointment ready then he quickly followed Ethan in the elevator, going up.
