Chapter 367: PEACE?
Both Adrain and Felicia were locked up immediately after so many struggles from each of them. Turning back to leave the station, Erika sighted Jude who still had her daughter wrapped around her at the entrance of the station. The girl was still heavily asleep and Erika couldn’t help but wonder if she was alright.
"Now that those two have finally been locked up, I guess it’s the end of their story," said Felix.
Erika smiled, "I hope so. It would be another problem if they got out of there and tried to trouble us again."
"They won’t," Ethan reassured her and she nodded. "What are you going to do about her?" He asked her, looking at Jude.
Erika sighed before she replied. "I honestly don’t know. I tried putting myself in her shoes and honestly, she did what every mother would have done. Jude had never given me a reason to be angry at her, not for once but putting the lives of my children in danger is completely uncalled for. But at the end of all this, I don’t want to put her in jail. What kind of a person would I be if I sent her to jail and deprived her daughter of a mother?"
"Hmm...." Ethan hummed. "You are right about this one. I wouldn’t want to be the reason a girl couldn’t reach out to her mother anymore." He added.
Sighing, Erika walked towards Jude whose eyes were as red as a tomato for crying for too long already.
"Mam, I’m sorry about this. Please don’t put me in jail," Jude pleaded as soon as Erika came to stand in front.
"Don’t worry, I’m not going to do anything. I forgive you for what you did but still, you should have told us about Adrain’s plans. We could have helped you get your daughter back without going to this kind of extreme length," said Erika as she stared at Jude who looked like she was about to have a breakdown.
Grabbing her hand, Erika said, "Come have a seat with me." She pointed to the bench that was arranged at the side of the station and Jude nodded.
"So, tell me what happened? How did Adrain kidnap your daughter?"
Jude sniffed back some nuts before she replied.
"I got to know Adrain about two months ago. Somehow, he found out that I was working for you as the nanny of your children, and he told me to kidnap your children. At first, I didn’t want to do it because I didn’t know who he was or what he wanted to do with them so I told him no."
A few weeks later, I got a phone call from an unknown number, telling me that he had my daughter. I was devastated when he introduced the same offer. I wanted to save my daughter without sacrificing your children but he threatened to kill her if I didn’t do as he said." She sobbed, her voice shaking from how terrible she felt for doing what she did.
Erika patted her on the shoulder to try to calm her down and it worked. Jude wiped her tears and stopped sobbing.
"I completely understand you now and I forgive you," she said and Jude just stared at her, not believing what she’d just said. "I can see that you were tied up between the whole thing but you could have done better by telling me. But let’s forget all about that now, I forgive you and you are not going back to jail," she added when she saw how wide Jude’s eyes were. Probably from not believing that Erika would forgive her so easily.
"Really mam?" She asked to be sure.
"Yes." Erika nodded.
Jude sobbed again but this time, they were tears of joy—tears of happiness.
"Thank you so much, mam." She appreciated it. "Can I please ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Is Felicia your twin sister?" Jude asked curiously and Erika ended up bursting out with laughter.
"There’s no way that bitch would be my twin sister," Erika replied, still laughing out loud while Jude covered her face in shame.
"I’m sorry for thinking that. I just thought that since—"
"Since we have the same face, are we twins? Oh, Jude, Felicia has always been my mortal enemy but now that she’s in jail, I feel the weight on my shoulders lighter now." She said.
Jude didn’t quite understand what Erika meant but chose to not ask any more questions.
"Can I see her?" Erika asked all of a sudden.
"Huh?"
"I meant your daughter. You did mention before that you had a daughter but we never saw her," Erika replied.
Jude nodded immediately and started removing the blanket she’d used to cover the girl.
Erika’s eyes landed on the young girl with curly brown hair, fair skin, and chubby cheeks.
"She looks beautiful," she complimented.
"Thank you."
Silence enveloped them while Erika sighed now and then, enjoying how much the two people who wanted to ruin her life were finally in jail.
"I will be going now, Michael just texted me now saying that Eren is about to be put to bed." Daniel broke the silence and Erika’s eyes immediately sparkled at the great news.
"Wow! My niece is coming out soon. Take care of her," she said and hugged him goodbye.
"Mam, if I may ask, how did you find the boy’s location so fast?" Jude asked, curious after a few moments passed.
Erika smiled at Jude before she replied.
"You know, when you have enemies and don’t know when they would ever strike, especially when they are in hiding, you get prepared for them."
Jude frowned in confusion, not understanding what Erika meant by her words.
"What do you mean mam?" She asked her.
"Adrain is my ex-husband, Felicia is his ex-wife and they wanted to ruin me but they went into hiding and a few months after giving birth to the boys, I planted a tracker in their teeth, just in case," Erika explained.
