Chapter 36: A YEAR LATER
"What?!" A woman yelled in the gynecologist’s office. "What do you mean by I can’t get pregnant anymore?!" The woman yelled again at the gynecologist.
The gynecologist could already feel an upcoming headache due to the woman’s constant yelling.
"Mrs. Hart, please can you keep it down? There are other patients around and an hospital is not a place to yell", the gynecologist tried to quiet down Felicia who was breathing heavily like she was going to faint anytime soon.
"I don’t care! You are lying to me!" Felicia yelled at the gynecologist.
The gynecologist shook her head before picking up the files that was on her desk and opened it, "Judging from what the results here say, you have had a lot of constant abortions and your womb can’t take it anymore."
"NO WAY!! THIS IS NOT HAPPENING TO ME!!" Felicia dragged her hair in frustration. Ever since she had married Adrain, she had wanted to get pregnant for him but he was never cooperating so she had to go meet her rich boyfriends and have fun. She would get pregnant numerous times from her affair with them and she would abort it but now that Adrain seems to be in the mood, nothing has happened. It’s been a year already but she still wasn’t pregnant so she went to the gynecologist to find out what was wrong with her until she found out that she has become infertile.
If she is not able to conceive for Adrian, he might leave her for another woman and she would be kicked out.
"Are you sure you conducted the tests well?" Felicia asked feeling infuriated by the news she had just received.
"I have conducted the tests three times as per your request, mam", the gynecologist tried to sound as polite as possible but the woman in front of her was acting like a mad woman. ’She was the one who killed all her eggs, what did she think was supposed to happen?’ The gynecologist thought to herself. She has attended to similar patients but this one seems hot headed.
Felicia felt like her world was about to end. She didn’t know what to do or say anymore so she grabbed her bags and dashed out of the office. She entered her car when she reached the parking lot and brought out her phone to call someone before she zoomed off.
One of the fellow doctors entered the gynecologist’s office and closed the door afterwards. "Isn’t that the wife of Mr Adrain Hart?" The doctor asked.
The gynecologist heaved a sigh of frustration before replying,
"She’s the one alright".
The other doctor quietly settled down on a seat and continued to ask, "So she is infertile now?" The gynecologist nodded. The other doctor gasped. "So she has been cheating on her husband?"
"Isn’t that obvious. I mean if she can cheat with a married woman’s husband then she can definitely cheat on her husband", said the gynecologist, who rubbed her head to try to relief her headache.
The other doctor could only sigh and they moved to another topic.

In New York City, Felix was in his office with Erika discussing some work when Monica walked in surprising the both of them.
"Hello!" Monica screamed loudly, totally forgetting that they were in the office and it was still working hours.
Erika was surprised that she was frozen on her seat with her mouth wide open. It’s been a while since she last saw Monica, her bestie. So seeing her now made her remember that she still had a bestie.
"Hey girl!" Erika got up dropping the files in her hands and rushed to hug her friend. And they both squealed happily like teenagers who got a text from their crush.
Felix who was still seated in his chair closed his eyes to try relax his ear from the loud noise but it got even louder to the point that he couldn’t take it any longer,
"I know that you both miss each other but for goodness sake, this is an office and you both are screaming too loudly", he reprimanded the both of them.
The two girls realized that it was true so they both quieted down and decided to chat instead.
"You know, am quite angry at you Erika. Forget my display of happiness from earlier, it won’t change the fact that am mad at you", Monica said to Erika dramatically looking away from her to look at the painted wall.
"Am so sorry about that baby, please forgive me", Erika acted cutely in-front of Monica. She knew that she it was her fault that they had lost contact for the last few months so she apologized.
It didn’t take long before Monica accepted Erika’s apology.
"And you..." Monica said pointing at Felix who tried to focus on his work. "Long time no see".
"That’s right", Felix replied dryly.
"Aren’t you going to say something else?" Monica asked, tilting her head to one side not wanting to let him off.
When Felix saw Monica’s head that was tilted to one side, he came to the realization that Monica was indeed beautiful. He stared into her hazel eyes and when the sunlight from outside spilled through the glass windows shone on her face, it highlighted her hazel eyes and her eyes illuminated an orange color.
For a moment, he just stayed there staring into her eyes until Monica flicked her fingers in his face to wake him up.
He cleared his throat and said, "Like what?"
"Something like "how are you?"" Monica asked.
When Felix didn’t say anything anymore, Monica huffed and turned to Erika.
"How long are you going to be staying here anyway?" Erika asked Monica.
"Well, I was able to complete my schedule for at least a month so I’m here for a vacation", Monica replied leaning in on the the chair she was sitting on.
"That is good. Now that you are here, my life won’t be about work anymore", Erika said feeling glad that her friend will be here with her.
"Are you tired of working already?", Felix chimed in.
"I didn’t say that, Felix. But not everyone can be a workaholic like you", remarked Erika. "Besides, I also need a vacation".
After that, Erika grabbed Monica’s hand and they left Felix’s office to go to her to chat.
