Chapter 327: PROMISE
Erika watched Beatrice gently close the door behind her, leaving her to ponder on the answer that she’d just uttered.
"His wife?" She repeated, mumbling under his breath. "That was also what Edward said," she added.
Months ago, after the meeting with Viper at the restaurant, he immediately contacted both Erika and Ethan and informed them about the information he got about the lady who looked exactly like her. But since Viper didn’t confirm anything and simply walked away, Edward wasn’t sure if she was indeed his wife but he didn’t waste a moment and still informed them.
Now hearing it from Beatrice whom she suspected was close to Viper, she was sure that she was indeed his wife.
"But what did she mean when she said ’was’?" Erika asked out loud. She stared back at the door, resisting the urge to get up from the bed and follow Beatrice to ask more questions that needed answers but she had her sons in her hands that she was breastfeeding.
More time passed and Erika tugged the babies back into their stroller and rode them out of the room. In the middle of their meal, they had fallen asleep but since Erika still had trust problems, she didn’t want to leave them alone in the room and decided to take them with her wherever she went.
"This house is so empty," Erika commented when she didn’t spot anyone or hear any sound around apart from the ones she heard coming from the kitchen which she’d already concluded was caused by Beatrice.
As Erika pushed the stroller, she took glances at the walls, checking if she would spot any cameras and surprisingly, there weren’t, which was a good thing but also a strange one as Erika furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
In the middle of the living room, standing at the exact spot where she was earlier, holding a vase in her hands and ready to smash Viper’s head with it, Erika took a closer look at the living room.
It was very large with many fancy furniture but yet man-likeable types of furniture to make it look comfortable and elegant for a grown man to live in.
The television had been switched off since he left earlier and staring right at it now, Erika was tempted to turn it on and watch the news. She remembered being in a car accident and no one needed to tell her for her to know that it was Viper who was the mastermind behind it but she wanted to know how the father of her sons was doing, Ethan.
Glancing left to right, Erika let go of the stroller and walked towards the remote that was lying on the fancy coffee table that was sitting in the center of the living room.
Switching the TV on, Erika quickly tuned in to the news channel and waited for something involving a car accident to show up.
In the middle of her intent stare at the TV, Erika didn’t notice Viper walk up to her and stand beside her with his hands behind him.
"There’s nothing for you to watch Erika," he spoke, making her jump in fear. "The news won’t show up," he added without staring at her as his focus was on the news about an irrelevant incident that popped up.
"Where’s Ethan?" Erika questioned him. "Since you were able to bring me here, he must be in a very bad condition so please, I’m begging you, take me back to him. I need him, my children need him," Erika pleaded desperately.
Despite his heart ache at the mention of another man from Erika’s mouth, viper couldn’t do much about it since the woman he wanted Erika to be wasn’t the kind of person she was. She was Erika and not Emma but he still didn’t want to accept that fact yet.
"You won’t see Ethan for now," he said, his veins popping out from his neck as he uttered those words. "You are going to live here with me for the meantime and afterward, I will take you to Ethan myself."
"What do you mean by ’for the meantime?’" Erika asked him, her brows furrowed in confusion as she tried to understand his words. This was the second time that he was saying that but she didn’t understand anything from it.
"I need you to get rid of someone," Viper replied through gritted teeth. "Someone who has been haunting me for years now so please bear with me," he pleaded also.
Erika stared at him without knowing when she released a sigh of helplessness. She didn’t know what to make out of his pleading or from anything that was going on at that moment.
Erika had always thought that her ex-husband, Adrian was a psycho but staring at Viper now, she didn’t know who was more psychotic.
Her ex-husband who always treated her wrongly suddenly, out of the blue, kidnapped her and wanted to marry her forcefully while keeping her in a house filled with bodyguards. Or his boss, who goes by the name Viper but his actual name is Robert, who has a wife that looks just like herself but kidnapped her while she was on her way home and now expects her to be with him for the ’meantime’ until he gets rid of someone.
What did he expect her to reply to that?
’Okay, I will wait until you get rid of that person that has been haunting you. Don’t worry, I have all the time to wait for that to happen.’ Erika scoffed on the inside.
"You are crazy," Erika mumbled under her breath after all her analyzing but she wasn’t one bit scared that there was a possibility that Viper heard her since he was standing at most, four feet away from her.
"I know I am," Viper admitted readily without hesitating one bit which surprised Erika a little. "I know this is wrong but please bear with me. But I will always keep my promise," he said, turning to look at her this time. "I will take you back to Ethan myself and probably surrender myself to the police as well."
Erika’s eyes widened for a second before she concluded in her thought. ’You have to.’
