Chapter 319: DROP THE ACT

Back in Spain, Ethan and Erika were strolling around the area they were living in. Erika breathed the fresh air and exhaled with a sigh.

"This place is really beautiful, Ethan," she mumbled. "But I still don’t understand how you will be able to work properly now that you are so far away from home and work. I know you said that Peter can handle everything since you’ve left him in charge once but is it really okay for you?" She asked him with worry in her tone.

She had the same question before they left New York and now she couldn’t help but ask the same thing.

It’s been a week already since they arrived in Spain and she’s seen him working with his laptop.

"Everything is fine, don’t worry. Just like before, I told Peter to call me as soon as something happens. Although, I doubt that there’s something that he can’t handle," Ethan replied to her, bringing her close to his arms so she wouldn’t wander off since everything caught her attention.

Erika sighed but still nodded. She hummed a song as they continued to walk around.

Ethan had suggested using a car before she’d wanted to exercise a bit after being cooped up in the house for the past week.

Unbeknownst to them, a heavyweight man, with dark skin and with black beard on his face glared at their backs. He took a puff of the cigarette that was in his mouth before releasing it as white smoke came out.

"After all these days, I thought they wouldn’t leave their house," the man with a deep voice mumbled.

He took out his phone and made a phone call. In less than ten seconds, the call immediately connected.

"Boss, they are outside their house, should I follow them and find out where they are going? Or should I just watch them?" He asked.

On the other side, viper growled in anger before he replied.

"When I told you to find their whereabouts, did you think I wanted you to just watch them like a hawk? You are going to follow them wherever they go and report to me everything they do while they are outside." Without waiting for the other man to reply, he hung up on the call and slammed the phone on the table, hard.

Mamba walked inside the house with a gloomy face.

"What is it?" Viper snapped without turning to know that someone was there.

"Edward Anderson has rejected another one of your requests to see him, boss," said Mamba.

"What exactly did he say?" Viper asked him, his eyes closed for a brief second before opening it to calm his nerves.

Mamba reached in and brought out a phone before bringing it for Viper to see.

Viper read the texts and a vein popped on his forehead.

"Leave," he commanded Mamba and the latter bowed and left. Since Viper caught both him and Felicia on the bedroom, he’d thought that the viper would get rid of him but surprisingly, he didn’t and only acted as if he didn’t see anything. But Mamba has taken it upon himself to never bat an eye to where Felicia was. He’d only wanted her for his sexual pleasure but if he was going to lose his life because of him since Viper was like a ticking time bomb and no one knew when he would explode, it wasn’t worth the risk.

Alone in the living room, viper grabbed his head in frustration. Erika was having so much fun with Ethan and Joe was having a problem with Edward which he had to help in clearing up else, Edward would be after him next.

Viper frowned, still wondering why Edward hadn’t come after him yet.

He already had enough evidence to put him in jail but nothing has been done. As much as he wanted to know the reason, he didn’t want to yet.

He still had a freedom that Adrain didn’t have and that was to travel out of the country.

"I should text Edward by myself. If I want to get this done properly, I should do it myself," he grumbled under his breath.

Finding Edward’s phone number had been difficult but he’d managed to find a way out, by asking the senator to give it to him even though the old man had resisted with the fear that Viper was only going to complicate things for him.

Viper quickly sent out a text to Edward and waited for a reply but he didn’t receive one yet. After waiting for 10 minutes but still ended up with the same result, viper slammed his phone on the table again and closed his eyes to breathe.

A beautiful angelic face came into view as tears brimmed in his eyes.

"Emma," he whispered, despite knowing fully well that he was dreaming and none of that was real. "Please come back to me," he pleaded. Eventually, the tears fell from his eyes but he didn’t care and continued wishing.

"I’ve tried to forget you for the past six years but you show up as another person. I’m tired—really tired."

The angelic face he saw smiled at him before she waved him goodbye and disappeared into the darkness.

Viper smiled and opened his eyes. "I won’t give up," he promised. "I don’t know if I’m going to win since I know fully well that what I’m doing is wrong but I will do my best."

His phone that was on the table vibrated with a notification. He picked it up and glared at the screen and his eyes widened for a second before coming back to normal.

A smirk pulled up on his lips. Viper reached to grab his jacket and stormed off.

Half an hour later, he arrived at the location that had been sent to him earlier. He walked inside the restaurant and it didn’t take long to find who he was looking for.

"I’m sorry to have texted you out of the blue, Edward Anderson," said Viper as he grabbed a seat.

"Drop the act," said Edward.
