Chapter 271: LITTLE DEMON
"Ethan dared to take Erika away from me!" Adrain spat out through gritted teeth. His veins popped out of his neck, threatening to come out of his neck as his eyes glared at the space in front of him. "He dared to take her!!" He yelled out loud again, nearly deafening the man who was attending to the injuries he got when he fought with Ethan earlier.
Having had enough of Adrian’s outrageous behavior, Viper stood up from his seat and threw his tobacco towards Adrian and wished it could burn him at that moment.
"Will you stop acting like you are the only one you lost something?? I also lost my men. I lost my loyal men!!!" Viper barked, and the entire room immediately turned silent. They had gone to their hideout after escaping from the military with the hope that they wouldn’t be attacked there also. "You act as if everything here is about you." Without waiting for Adrian to reply, Viper raised his hard fist and picked Adrian right on his bruised cheek, worsening the injury that he already had.
"Aargh..." Adrian groaned in pain as he fell on the ground. The men who had assisted in helping Adrian escape could feel the tension in the atmosphere and immediately, they left the room to leave their two bosses to speak to each other.
Viper walked towards his desk, took out another perfectly wrapped tobacco and slipped it in between his lips. He picked up the lighter and lit the tobacco. Afterward, he inhaled a large amount of smoke and exhaled it before his shoulders slumped in disappointment.
He turned to look at Adrain who was trying to get up but his legs weren’t able to help him in any way. Plus his stabbed hand seems to have gotten paralyzed even more than earlier.
"I warned you, Adrian, I warned you," he breathes. I told you several times that you shouldn’t mess with those families but look at what has happened. You had my men killed and you also ended my business." He turned to look at Adrian and still found the latter on the ground, still trying his best to get up but it was obvious that his best wasn’t enough.
"I only wanted to take what was mine!!" Adrian yelled out of frustration and instantly, he received another punch on his face and he ended up spitting out blood from his mouth while his nose bled.
"Mind how you talk to me, Adrain. Don’t forget that I was the one who brought you into this business. Whenever you want to speak with me, you must learn to do it with respect!!"
Adrain could feel his ears about to bleed next from how loud Viper’s harsh voice was. Since he got into their illegal business, he had indeed forgotten who he was messing with but that thought didn’t bother him at all. The only person on his mind was Erika.
"I’m sorry boss," he managed to force the words past his lips. "I should have listened to you but now I need your help again. I need to get Erika back from Ethan. He has taken what was mine again and I won’t let him be at peace. He must return her to me. He must!!" He said, deadpan.
Anger and the urge to kill etched on his face, making his bruises look even darker and scarier.
Viper didn’t resist the urge to facepalm himself at that moment and that act of his only made Adrain feel stupid. He was hoping that Viper would really help him and not leave him now.
Even though he still had a lot of money, he didn’t have men of his own. All the ones he had been ordering around were all Viper’s men and they mainly saw Viper as the boss and he was just a right-hand man.
Adrain waited for Viper to speak while carefully watching his expression. Even though a lot of the bodyguards had already died, he didn’t care about all of that but he was willing to act like everything was his fault even though it truly was.
"I know that you are angry with me because I didn’t listen to your words but I only wanted to get back at Ethan for taking Erika from me in the first place," he tried to defend himself as well as acting compassionate but unfortunately for him, Viper saw right through his lie.
"By getting married to Erika?" Viper questioned him with a raised eyebrow. "You told me that you would be getting married to Erika in two days and you wanted to get married to her today?" He asked him angrily, nearly losing it when he got the thought of Adrain getting married to Erika. That image bothered him a lot as he tried to keep a straight face. "Also, how were you not able to know that there was a tracker on your phone,’’ Viper clenched his fist, ready to deliver another graceful punch on Adrain’s hideous face again as he waited for the latter to reply.
Adrain turned speechless, unable to speak as he tried to recall where and when a tracker had been placed on his phone. He did find it odd that Ethan and his gang had been able to find out about his hideout a day after he left the prison but still couldn’t remember how the tracker had been placed inside his phone without him even realizing. And the size of how tiny the little demon that got him discovered only baffled him even more than he already was.
"I have no idea how that happened," Adrian said truthfully but Viper couldn’t believe him. He had already concluded that Adrain was a smart idiot.
The previous day, he had said that he was going to get married to Erika in two days, and today, he planned to marry her, even without inviting him to the wedding. It was obvious now that Adrain was starting to suspect him in some way and so was he.
