Chapter 265: SWOLLEN EYES

Erika tightened her grip on the gun, wanting to aim at Adrian but their movements were too fast, making her unable to get a perfect aim. Whenever she would get an aim, Adrain would someone switch over and Ethan would be in that position.

Frustrated, Erika lowered the gun but couldn’t stand and watched them fight each other like that. Ethan wasn’t completely recovered and if Adrian hit him on the head again, his condition would only worsen and she didn’t want that to happen at all.

Luckily for Ethan, Adrain’s stabbed hand wasn’t able to let him hit Ethan as much as he wanted, allowing the latter to vent his anger in him as much as he wanted.

In the middle of the fight, some of Adrain’s men came and threatened to shoot Ethan if he didn’t let go of their boss.

Ethan stared at the men in black suits and could only wonder where they were pouring out from. The military men had already killed a lot of them but still, 6 of them were threatening him at that moment. Adrain lay on the ground half dead and half alive and as much as he wanted to smirk at Ethan for thinking that he could get rid of him so easily, his nearly disfigured face didn’t let him.

"Shoot Ethan!" He ordered loudly and instantly, Erika pointed her gun at them and fired a bullet, shooting one in the chest. She was about to shoot another bullet but the sound of fired bullets echoed from behind her.

Ethan immediately rushed over to push her body away from there and shielded her with his when her back hit the wall of the fence.

When Erika looked back, she saw men in military uniforms firing bullet after bullet at Adrain’s men and when she looked at the ground where Adrain had been lying down just earlier, he was already gone. Out of 6 of his men who were here just now, threatening them, 4 were already dead. Which means that the remaining two had helped Adrain to escape.

"Go after them!" Ethan ordered and was about to leave Erika to go follow the military men who had already started searching for Adrain but she held him but his hand and pulled him into a tight hug.

"Don’t go, please," she pleaded. "Leave that to the military men." She released him and looked up at his face before she continued, "Adrian had hit you on the head, right? Shouldn’t we be going to the hospital now?" She asked worriedly.

Ethan felt another pang of headache hit him but waved it off. Erika was already worried about him and he didn’t want to make her even more worried than she already was.

"I’m alright," he denied with a smile.

Erika didn’t believe him one bit and frowned at him. "We need to go to the hospital now Ethan. Leave your men here. They should be able to catch Adrian anytime soon. He’s hurt and he shouldn’t be able to move around too much. Please, let’s go back and have your head checked."

Hearing her worry-filled tone made him feel a dagger being stabbed into his chest. He’d come here to rescue her and take her back home, happily but here he was, making her worried. He suddenly felt like a fool for making her so worried.

When he noticed the tears that had started to brim in her eyes, she leaned in to kiss her eyes one after the other to comfort her.

"Let’s go," he finally said and Erika released a sigh of relief. Ethan picked up the gun that Adrain had kicked right off of his hand earlier when he’d attacked him and quickly checked how many bullets were remaining, in case some of his men were still roaming around somewhere closer.

Together, the both of them walked towards the entrance of the house and noticed the amount of dead bodies that lay there, most of them were men in black suits while 3 were men in military uniform.

Some of the men who had been caught kneeled with their hands up in surrender. They all wore smug looks on their faces, definitely sad about how the battle had ended.

Erika didn’t fail to notice Mary and Juliet who were also kneeling beside the dead bodies as well. When they saw Erika with Ethan beside her, they immediately glared at her but unfortunately for them, Erika didn’t have the time to stand and chat with them.

The only person on her mind at that moment was Ethan.

Ethan led her towards the car and she saw Felix, Daniel, and a third man whose face she wasn’t able to recognize.

As soon as she made eye contact with her brothers, they immediately rushed over to envelop her in a warm hug.

"We finally found you," Daniel cried as tears rolled down from his eyes.

Felix resisted the urge to smack Daniel on the head for acting so emotionally in front of Erika, knowing fully well that she would also start feeling emotional. In a blink of an eyelash, Erika cried along with Daniel as she hugged him tighter.

"I missed you so much Daniel," cried Erika.

Edward came out of the car, feeling left out as he complained. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"What about me, sister-in-law," he complained.

Erika stared at Edward, confused. Looking at Ethan, she noticed some striking facial resemblance that they had and already guessed that this man was from the Anderson family.

When Edward noticed Erika’s unsure gaze, he quickly introduced himself. "Hi sister-in-law, I’m Edward. I’m Ethan’s cousin."

Erika nodded in acknowledgment and shook hands with him instead.

"We need to take Ethan to the hospital quickly," said Erika, and immediately, the three men stared at Ethan worriedly.

"Why? What happened?" Daniel asked her.

Erika narrated everything that happened 10 minutes ago and instantly, their faces turned ugly.

"I’m sure that he has a migraine but he won’t admit it so we need to go to the hospital now," she added.

Felix made eye contact with Ethan before he nodded.

"Okay! Three military men will go with you and the rest will stay here and help clean up this mess," Felix said.

Erika didn’t waste any more time and quickly pushed Ethan into the car before he changed his mind while three military men got into the back seat.

Erika quickly ignited the engines of the car and drove as fast as she could, heading towards the hospital. Unbeknownst to her, when she was driving past the trees, a black car was hidden in one corner and watched as their car zoomed away.

It took several hours before they reached the hospital and when Erika hecked the time, she realized that it was nearing evening already.

Quickly, Erika assisted Ethan and helped him out of the car before they walked inside the hospital. Ethan led the way to his hospital room while the military men stood on guard at the doors.

Michael was quickly informed and he rushed towards the room alongside the doctor Dave.

"Mr Anderson, how are you feeling?" Doctor Dave asked him, noticing the discomfort in his eyes.

Ethan first glanced at Erika and when he saw that she was also waiting for his reply, Ethan spoke up, "I feel another migraine but this one isn’t as severe as the other ones. It’s okay."

"You are not the one to decide that. Let the doctor check you up properly and then he can say if it’s okay or not," Erika scolded him immediately, making him shush his mouth the moment he heard her speak.

"Were you hit on the head?" Dave suddenly asked and Ethan nodded in response.

"In that case, all you have to do is to take your painkillers and try as much as possible to avoid getting hit on the head. It’s possible to get permanent amnesia if your head is getting hit all the time. It’s very dangerous," said doctor Dave and he left them to themselves.

Erika walked towards Ethan’s bed and sat on the side. "I’m sorry," she suddenly apologized as she tried to hold back her tears.

Michael came to her side and patted her back. "What are you apologizing for? You just came back after three weeks and you forgot to hug me? Don’t you miss me?" He nearly whined and Erika laughed as she hugged him. "I’m sure that you must have hugged the others but I’m the last one receiving his hug? This is very bad of you," he continued to whine even though Erika was already hugging him.

He had already imagined what had happened and why Erika was about to apologize and the only way he could lift the mood was by asking for his hug, hopefully, Erika would forget about it and be happy with them once again.

"I might not be exactly sure about what happened over there but please, don’t cry anymore. Your eyes are already swollen," Michael comforted her and Erika nodded.
