Chapter 224: FIRE
The rest of them nodded their heads in understanding but it still hurt part of them to see that such a large mansion was going to be burnt down.
"But will it be completely burnt before the officers arrive?" Juliet asked. She doubted that such a large mansion could easily be burnt down in less than two hours since there were so many things inside.
"Even if it doesn’t completely burn before they arrive, part of it should be, now let’s go," Adrian urged. The bodyguards brought out the fuel that they would be using in the mansion, went back inside, and started pouring it inside.
They needed to pour the fuel in every corner of the mansion and light up the fire as soon as they were done.
Erika watched as the fire consumed the entire mansion as they drove further away from it. Thinking that there was no way that Adrian could escape from here without coming in contact with either of the police officers they said were snooping around the place, Adrian suddenly took a left turn and drove towards the back of the mansion.
There, she saw it. It was another gate. A much smaller gate compared to the one at the front which was hidden behind the tall fence. ’How did I miss this place?’ Erika thought to herself.
She had thought that there was no way that Adrian could leave from here but now that they are taking another turn. And who knows where they would come out from, she wondered.
Should I jump? She asked herself. Inside their car, she was seated in the back seat with Iza and Adrian sitting beside her while the bodyguards drove. The other car and the van that followed behind them were where the others were. She stared at the ground, hoping that the car would just slow down for a second but then if she jumped, how would she be able to run away from them? She wondered.
Placing her hand on her face, she cried silently. If they were able to successfully leave here, who knows when she will ever have the chance to escape again?

Back in the jungle, the officers pulled up a big truck to pull down the tall trees and create a path for their cars. As soon as the path had been made, Edward, Daniel, and Felix were the ones to drive inside while the cop cars stayed by their sides.
"I hope we get to find her soon," Daniel muttered with a sigh. He was sitting at the back of the car as he tried to search properly with his eyes until he suddenly looked up and saw black smoke forming in the air. "What is that?" He asked no one in particular.
Felix looked up and saw the same smoke. "It’s coming from that side," he pointed out.
Quickly, they changed their direction and headed where the smoke had been coming from. The other police cars that had been following behind them also changed their direction and headed towards there.
As soon as they got to the enormously tall fence, they walked towards the tall gate that was slightly open and walked inside. The first thing that came into view was the burning house. The fire had already engulfed most parts of the mansion while some only had a few nowhere safe.
The officers immediately called for the firefighters who would be arriving much later since the distance was quite far and by the time they had arrived, the whole place would have already burnt down into ashes.
"Where the fuck is this place?" Edward questioned with his forearm over his nose to prevent himself from sniffing the smoke.
He tried to walk around the mansion but the police wouldn’t let him since the whole place was on fire. The only thing they could do at this point was wait for the firefighters and for the house to completely turn into ashes.
After half an hour passed, they heard the siren of the firefighters heading towards them.
Immediately, they released their hoses and quenched fire which took about another half an hour. Seeing the whole fire completely quenched down, the police officers immediately started their search for evidence. They didn’t need to be told that this was the place where Adrain had kept Erika before they escaped.
"Adrain must have known somehow that we were coming and he escaped from this place," said Edward. "But is he the owner of this house because from the looks of it, it seemed to be a mansion," he added.
Felix came forward and examined the burnt environment. This was the perfect place for Adrian to have kept Erika because it was the perfect camouflage. The jungle covered the whole place properly and no one would have ever had the thought that a mansion as big as this was behind those tall trees.
"I don’t know about that but one thing’s for sure, he somehow knew we were coming and escaped from here before we could even catch," he said through gritted teeth. "We were so close, yet, we missed them." He had hoped that since they had found out about this jungle, they would be reunited with Erika again while they threw Adrian in jail but they missed.
"I wonder where he could have taken her now," Daniel muttered. He missed his baby sister so much already and this whole event hurt him as well.
Walking towards Mr Brown, Felix questioned, "Has there been anything useful that could lead us more into this investigation?"
Mr Brown released a sigh before he replied, "Everything had been consumed by the fire so there’s no chance that we might find anything of any use as of the moment. But hopefully, we will be able to find something." Felic nodded in understanding.
Suddenly, one of the officers rushed towards Mr Brown and said, "Sir, look what we found," while Felix glared at the dangerous object that was in the officer’s hands.
