Chapter 213: FOOLED
In the cupboards of one of the empty rooms in the mansion, the door slightly creaked open, making space for whatever wanted to come out of it. A fair foot was the first thing to step out of the cupboard before the whole figure jumped down.
Erika stared at the messed up room that the bodyguards had tumbled over in search of her but too bad for them, they did not search properly.
While walking towards the door, Erika tried as much as possible to not make any sound since some bodyguards and the others were still around. Suddenly, she heard footsteps passing. Her heart skipped a beat in fear and immediately, she hid behind the couch.
The doors to the room opened and the head of one of the guards peeked inside. When he was assured that no one was there, he turned off the lights and closed the doors.
When Erika was sure that she could no longer hear the footsteps of the man, she slowly got out of her hiding spot. Today was the day she was going to escape and no one was going to stop her.
Earlier, after Erika went back to her room, she called the maid, Iza and requested a few things from the woman so that she could distract her and take the card that she used to open her room. Iza didn’t suspect anything, she didn’t even notice the cameras that Erika had already damaged, which was a good thing because if she had noticed it, Iza wouldn’t have wasted a second before informing the guards.
The card that Iza was holding could only open the doors of the rooms in the mansion, which Erika needed at that moment. She couldn’t stay in her room since that would be the first place that they start looking for her, and she needed to create a distraction for the guards and Adrian after he got back.
If she wanted to escape in a place full of men with armed weapons, she needed to do it smartly.
Gently, Erika opened the door and darted her eyes around the quiet hallway. Quickly, she ran towards the secret passageway that she discovered when she started her wander. It was a place located on the 1st floor so Erika had to go down and be prepared, in case she encountered a bodyguard.
As she was about the run down the stairs, she saw another bodyguard heading up.
"Shit!" Erika hissed. Before the guard could point his gun at her and threaten her, Erika had already kicked him in the face, knocking him out.
Since she couldn’t leave the man on the ground, exposed to the others and alarming them that she was still in the mansion, Erika pulled the guard into one of the rooms and took his gun.
"I don’t know how to kill but I think I’m going to learn tonight," Erika grumbled under her breath.
Leaving, she ran towards the secret passageway that she had intended to do earlier.
The passageway was just like the door to her room, it looked like a wall and the paint camouflaged it so perfectly that no one would think that the wall was actually a door. Surprisingly, it doesn’t need a card whatsoever to open it, probably because Adrian believed that no one would be able to come across it but unfortunately for him, Erika did.
As soon as the door opened, Erika stepped inside and it automatically closed behind her. Since she’d found out about this secret door, she had been waiting for the perfect chance. A day that Adrian wouldn’t be available to hover around her.
Erika walked with the gun in her hands until she reached the other end. She placed the card on the doorknob and it opened for her, leading her outside.
Some more bodyguards passed the place as they continued to search for her. Erika cocked the gun and readied it to shoot at anyone, anytime.
Erika stared at the place as she counted the amount of bodyguards left in her head. "5," she mumbled. With the others that were still inside the house, Erika estimated it to be 20, just in case.
She unglued herself from the wall and was about to leave but quickly halted her steps when she saw Adrian limping towards his car. His face was so bruised up with glaring injuries.
"What happened to him?" She wondered as she narrowed her eyes at him.
She watched as some of the bodyguards joined him while some followed in the other car and together, they left. The mansion’s gate was still left open and Erika’s eyes lit up with anticipation.
She glanced around the place with the hope that she wouldn’t see any bodyguards again and luckily, she was only able to spot one who was heading towards to entrance of the mansion, probably to join his colleagues upstairs as they searched for her.
As soon as Erika left her spot, running towards the exit gate, she heard her name,
"Erika!" And she recognized the voice of the person very well.
She turned to make eye contact with Felicia who had Mary and Juliet by her side.
"So you’ve been in here all the time and you made us believe that you had escaped?" Felicia questioned Erika with a glare.
"I was just about to, now don’t interrupt me," Erika replied nonchalantly and without sharing any more words, she spread the gate wide open and slipped from there.
"Guards!!" Felicia immediately called for the attention of the bodyguards
"What’s it, man?" The bodyguards asked as they tried to breathe as much air as possible since they had climbed down the stairs very quickly when they heard Felicia scream.
"You imbeciles! You can’t do your job right! Erika has been in the mansion all this while and had only been waiting for you people to leave!" She informed and insulted them at the same time. "Call Adrian now and tell him that Erika just left the mansion! And you people should go after her now!" She yelled again when she saw the guards still standing like fools.
