Chapter 204: BAD DECISION?

What just happened? Daniel wondered when he saw that the two were already chilled in their seats.

He didn’t bother to ask them what that was all about and simply leaned on his seat as well. After watching and observing for a few minutes, they caught a glimpse of the man they were looking for, Viper, wearing a black business suit and a hat to cover his head.

"Isn’t that the man we are looking for?" Daniel asked as he tapped on Felix’s shoulder.

"That’s him alright."

Before Viper could disappear, he heard a voice calling him. Thinking it was probably one of his debtors who were ready to pay up, he didn’t waste any time and quickly turned, only to find three men standing in front of him while wearing a solemn expression.

He wasn’t a fool to not recognize Erika’s brothers since he’d done a background check on her, but he didn’t recognize the other slightly taller man whose expression looked rather threatening than solemn.

"How may I help you?" Viper casually asked.

Felix was the one to speak, "You are Viper Jones, right? The travel agent?"

Viper stood more properly by bringing his suitcase to his side and revealing a smile that slightly pulled up his lips.

"Yes, I am. If you want to get your visa arranged then you would have to come to my office tomorrow. It’s already past working hours so tomorrow morning will be a more convenient time to discuss what you want," he replied.

For a moment, he’d thought they were here to question him about Adrian and if he had anything to do with Erika’s disappearance.

Edward scoffed internally. He could travel anywhere he wanted to without a visa since he was in the military and Viper thought that they’d come to have him prepare theirs, what a cunning man, Edward thought to himself.

"We are not here to have any visa arrangements with you," said Edward.

There it was, Viper thought to himself. He’d thought they weren’t here for what he was thinking of earlier but they proved him wrong.

"Then why are you here?" He asked, trying to play dumb.

"We want to talk with Adrian Hart," Daniel was the one to speak this time. "And we’d also like to see this underground gambling you are running."

Shocked, Viper didn’t think they would be able to find out about his illegal business so quickly. Not everyone knew that he was the owner of the club, and the people who knew that he was the owner of the underground gambling would be threatened to the extent that they would glue their mouths together or would rather eat poison if they were asked anything regarding the underground gambling. Was helping Adrian a bad decision? Viper thought to himself.

He was aware that he wasn’t messing with ordinary people but if they were to report about his club, the police would come snooping around. Although they wouldn’t be able to find the club since it was underground and the route to it was from the hidden elevator, he didn’t want to take any chances.

"I’m sorry but it seems you must have mistaken me to be someone else. I don’t run any underground gambling. I’m just a travel agent," he tried to convince the three men but from their straight faces, it was obvious that none of them were buying his lies.

"We are not here for jokes, Viper. We already know that you run an illegal business but you know what, that’s not the main reason we are here. We are here to talk with Adrain Hart. He comes to this club all the time and probably works for you so call him up," said Daniel, without beating around the bush.

Viper released a sigh before he replied,

"I’ve heard of Adrian Hart before but he doesn’t work for me or anything like that. He’s just a regular customer who likes to visit the club. I see him around here sometimes but I don’t think he came around today."

"Is that so? Well then, call him," Felix ordered. He was assured that Adrian worked for Viper or they were in their illegal business together. They weren’t going to report the crime to the officers yet since it could be useful for them later in the future.

"I don’t think it’s right for you to enter this club and disrupt the relaxation time of some of the customers here. I don’t know Adrian personally so it would be better if you don’t disturb me anymore," said Viper, changing his tone of speech towards them and left.

"He refuses to reveal anything," said Daniel. "Are we sure that it isn’t Adrian who is the boss and this Viper guy is only his worker because, from the look on his face, he was worried about something."

"Worried that we know about the underground gambling but aren’t members of the illegal game," Edward explained.

They watched Viper walk towards a booth and sit down amid the men who also wore business suits and conversed.

"Well, we can’t leave just because he says he doesn’t know Adrian personally. It was obvious that wasn’t willing to reveal anything to us," said Felix as he rubbed his chin, trying to come up with a thought.

"Of course, we aren’t leaving. No one is talking about leaving," Edward retorted and Felix responded by rolling his eyes at him.

"Then what do we do?" Daniel asked Edward.

"Simple. We watch him like a hawk. Sooner or later, Adrian is bound to show up. Who knows, he might even be in the underground gambling," Edward replied as they walked back to their seats.

"I wonder where that place is, it could be anywhere here," Daniel commented as he observed every wall that corners the club. "There could be a secret passageway that leads to that place," he added until they reached their seats.

They grabbed the drinks that they had left earlier and sipped from them as they continued to observe Viper. Sooner or later, Adrian will show up, they were sure of it.
