Chapter 198: FIRST AID
"How dare you hurt her?" Viper questioned Adrian as glared at him. Not having seen Viper glare at him before, Adrian was slightly taken aback before he cleared his throat and replied,
"It was a misunderstanding. Something happened which I will explain to you later."
Viper noticed the eyes Adrian was giving him and realized it could be about his mortal enemy, Ethan. He glanced at Erika to be sure she didn’t get the hint only to find her darting her eyes here and there.
"Don’t you ever think of doing something like this again," Viper warned. "You said you love her and she’s your life, is this how you plan to treat your wife? By hitting her and injuring her body?" He questioned Adrian who found his attitude very suspicious.
Thinking that Viper must have thought he was causing domestic violence to women, he tried to clear the misunderstanding.
"I will fill you with the details later, boss but I’m not a woman beater. I lost my senses at that moment and couldn’t control my anger and...."
"Control your anger next time," Viper cuts him off. When he realized he was caring too much for another woman who wasn’t his wife, he rephrased his words, "You should treat the woman you love nice and not like this." Without wasting any more time, he turned the other way and left.
Erika glanced at his back before looking away. She noticed Adrian take closer steps towards her and she took steps backward.
"Are you scared of me?" Adrian suddenly asked her. "I understand if you are scared of me now but remember I only did that because I was furious," he added.
Erika turned to look at him and asked, "By who? What did you hear that could have driven you to the extent of throwing a bottle in my direction? You said you loved me but I’m starting to think you don’t. Is it because Felicia and her baby are here? You feel attached to your family and you feel like you can treat me anyhow you please?"
As she spoke, her voice softened, making her sound fragile. This was the trick she used all the time when talking to Adrian to try to fool him even more.
"Let’s go treat your injury now," said Adrian. He reached for her hand to grab her but she stepped further away from him.
Just as much as Erika planned to make Adrian believe that she was in love with him, she didn’t want any sort of physical contact. Just his cologne that flooded her nostril already disgusted her.
"You don’t have to do that. I’ve already treated it and I will be okay," she objected. Looking at Adrian’s jacket, Erika wondered if she should still attempt taking the phone as she’d planned to. The first time she took it, she had framed Felicia, but if she took it now, who would she frame? she wondered.
"I insist," said Adrian. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her with him. His grip was tight and she felt like kicking him between his legs but turned down the idea.
Adrian pulled her until they arrived in the living room. "From the looks of your wound, you didn’t treat it properly so let me do it," Adrian said as he feigned ignorance to the grip he had on her.
Erika took a seat and watched Adrian open the first aid kit and brought out the first aid supplies.
Out of curiosity, Erik asked Adrian, "If I may ask, what business do you do with Viper?" She could have sworn she saw Adrian freeze for a second before he continued to bring out the supplies.
Adrian cleared his throat before replying, "We are travel agents."
"Was it the same business that got you enough money to buy this mansion?" She asked, hoping that Adrian would give a clear reply and not try to change the topic as he’d always done.
Adrian nodded, "Part of it. After I lost the company, I sold the mansion to pay off some of my debts. I used the remaining money to come to New York and planned my scheme."
Adrain was about to press the cotton wool on her injury but she backed away from him.
"I told you I’ve already treated the wound so there’s no need for you to do this. If you don’t believe me then you can call the maid and ask her about it. She was the one who treated it for me this morning," she explained. Earlier that morning, Erika had called the maid that Adrian had assigned to her and had instructed her to treat her wound.
Despite hearing her words, Adrain grabbed her wrist forcefully and pulled her. "I want to do it," he insisted.
Adrain pressed the spirit-soaked cotton wool on her cuts hard, as if wanting to see her in pain but Erika disappointed him by sitting still and not even making a single sound.
Suddenly, she asked, "You met Viper where?"
Adrian pressed the cotton wool one last time on the cut before he disposed of it. After he had administered the first aid, he finished by placing a bandage on the injury and answered,
"We met in a club," he replied. "We were just drinking and I told him about my life problems so he decided to help," he added as she arranged the first aid box. When he was about to get up, he noticed the cuts that were on her legs as well. Without uttering any further words, he reopened the first aid kit, applied spirits on the cotton wool, and leaned towards Erika with an attempt of placing the spirited wool on her injury.
When Erika guessed what he was about to do, she jumped from there and moved further away from him.
"I don’t think there’s any need for you to do that. The wound is healing and I can do that myself," she tries to convince him.
