Chapter 196: LOCKED ROOM

At the dining table, sounds of cutleries could be heard as everyone ate their breakfast silently until Felicia spoke, "Adrian, I want to get plastic surgery done."

Erika glanced at her before she ate the food stuck to her fork.

Adrian dropped his and faced her before he questioned,

"Why do you need plastic surgery?"

Felicia paused hers and scoffed before she replied, "Are you blind? Don’t you see my face, Adrian? Is this the face you want your son to see all the time? It’s going to traumatize our son."

"And because of that, you want plastic surgery? I think you look good the way you are so that when you look at your face, you wouldn’t dare to cheat on people’s husbands," Adrian remarked.

Confused, Mary asked Adrian, "What do you mean by she cheated with women’s husbands." Turning to Felicia, she asked her, "Didn’t your mother say you and Erika got into a fight and that’s how you got the scars?"

After her name was mentioned in the conversation, Erika scoffed but didn’t say anything.

On the other hand, Felicia choked on her saliva as her hands fidgeted. She hadn’t expected Adrain to be so blunt with his words, now Mary was going to find out she was a slut.

"Wow! So you lied to Mary about the truth? Interesting," Adrian remarked. "You are such a sly snake, why don’t you tell your dear mother-in-law about your affairs that led to that ugly scar on your face?"

Even more confused, Mary turned to Felicia who didn’t dare say anything, and asked, "What’s he talking about Felicia? Did you cheat on Adrian?"

"Yes, I did!" Felicia yelled out of annoyance. "But only because he deserves it of course. He was planning on getting back together with Erika at that time so I felt lonely and needed satisfaction," she spouts out shamelessly.

Erika, who was quietly eating, cringed in distaste when she heard Felicia. ’This woman got guts,’ she thought to herself.

"You have no shame, Felicia. You even have the mind to say it so loudly without any remorse," Adrian remarked nonchalantly.

"That’s because I don’t feel any," she said through gritted teeth. Without spouting anything more shameful, she continued to eat without the need to explain herself to Mary, who stared at her with wide eyes.

Erika noticed Mary’s looks towards Felicia and could see the woman hadn’t expected such a revelation. She noticed a glint of disappointment pass her eyes before they disappeared and was slightly stunned before she acted like she saw nothing and continued to dine.

Later, Erika decided to stroll. The parts of the mansion were very large, although not larger than her family’s mansion which took months for it to be built. From the report Ethan’s men had provided about Adrian’s arrival in the city in just a few weeks, he couldn’t have built the mansion in that short amount of time so Erika concluded that he must have bought it. But buying a mansion this large with the tech doors and tall fences must have cost a lot of money. Plus those bulky bodyguards needed to be paid a salary and the sports cars that he owned were simply too expensive.

As she continued to wander away, she came across a room that she hadn’t opened yet which she knew because she always keeps a record of the places she’d been in the mansion, just in case she would need that route to escape.

Instantly, she paused and turned to face the black door which was slightly darker than the other black doors.

With eyes filled with curiosity, Erika reached for the doorknob in an attempt to open it but couldn’t when she realized that it was locked. She attempted opening it again but arrived with the same result, the door was locked.

With a frown, she tried to bang it open but the door wouldn’t budge. While gritting her teeth, she continued to try to push it open when she realized that the door was making too much noise and it could alarm any bodyguard or maid if they were around.

"What could be hidden in this room?" She wondered. After releasing a sigh, she backed away from the door and left. If she was caught trying to open the door by anyone, Adrian would question her.

Unbeknownst to Erika, a man who wore an overall black with a leather jacket was hidden in a corner, monitoring her moves. When he saw her trying to open the door, the corner of his lips pulled up to form a grin.

"They saw curiosity did kill the cat but this one seems to be very brave," he remarked as the grin continued to dance on his lips.

He watched her leave until she disappeared in another path. He came out from his hiding spot and walked towards the door. He was also quite curious as to why the room was locked.

Erika continued to wander about cautiously until she realized that someone was following her. Swiftly, she turned to try to catch a glimpse of the stalker but didn’t see any shadow, talk more of a figure. Thinking it was probably a maid or a bodyguard who had been instructed by Adrian to watch her, she shrugged her shoulders and continued to walk.

Since she couldn’t snoop around because of the stalker, she simply went to the garden and pretended to be enjoying her time until the person grew tired of waiting for her to commit a foolish act and leave.

"The weather is very beautiful today," she commented with a smile as she looked up at the bright sky. The weather was quite brighter than the other days with the sun shining brightly but not too hot. Rather, it was warm.

Slowly, she turned to the other side and waited for the person to disappear but instead, she heard footsteps coming closer towards her. While pretending she didn’t hear anything, the footsteps arrived beside her and she stared at the familiar person with a glare.
