Chapter 195: HAPPY NEWS

Erika stood frozen, unable to move due to the shock but not the pain she felt. She’d never expected Adrian to be so violent. ’What could have made him so upset?’ She wondered.

Felicia walked closer up to Erika when she saw the latter in her thoughts and questioned with a mocking tone,

"Are you surprised that Adrian was violent with you?" She scoffed and continued, "You shouldn’t be. Maybe from now on, you will stay away from him."

Erika released a tired sigh before she looked Felicia in the eyes and questioned back, "Don’t you have a baby you need to calm down?"

It was at that moment that Felicia heard the cries of her baby and she quickly dashed towards her

room.

Erika continued to stand as she pondered on what could have turned Adrian so upset all of a sudden. When the urge to follow him and find out what happened kicked in, Erika ignored her bleeding legs and arms and left from there.

Erika followed the smell of the alcohol that Adrian had been drinking earlier until she arrived in a hallway. She stared at the big hallway that she hadn’t had the time to visit yet and could only frown at how large it was.

She continued to walk until she saw a slightly opened door. She darted her eyes around in search of any cameras or anyone around and fortunately, there weren’t any.

Erika peeked inside the room only to find the whole place scattered. The bed was turned and the mirror was broken, and so were some of the room’s furniture. She ran her eyes to the other side, looking for Adrain, and found him sitting on a couch that faced the turned bed, drinking another whisky, directly from the whisky bottle.

Staring at that bottle just made her remember how her life could have ended a few minutes ago. She wanted to go in there and throw the bottle he was holding at him but she knew better than to do that.

After waiting for some minutes and Adrian still hadn’t uttered anything yet, Erika grew tired and wanted to leave. The maid assigned to her will soon start looking for her and if she’s found missing, Adrian might increase the security around her, making things even harder for her to escape.

Erika released a sigh and took a step backward in the attempt to leave but abruptly stopped when she heard Adrian remark sarcastically, "Isn’t it a miracle that he survived? The heavens must not have wanted his life to be wasted in my hands, that’s why he survived."

Erika’s mouth flew open. Her heart skipped a beat at the thought that Adrian was talking about Ethan. She decided to wait a few more seconds to hear his other words.

She watched Adrian grab the whisky bottle and bring it to his lips. She noticed his forehead glistening with sweat, probably from the energy he wasted when he messed the whole place up.

"Why on earth did he survive?" He spat out of irritation. His grin on the bottle tightened and the urge to vent his anger on it by hitting it on the wall kicked in.

Erika watched him as if he was a ticking time bomb and waited for him to throw the bottle but unfortunately, he placed it on the table and released his grip.

He suddenly brought out his phone and made a phone call.

"Have you found out about his medical condition yet?" He asked the person on the other side.

"Not yet boss," the male nurse from earlier replied.

"Hurry up and send it to me already," Adrian demanded and hung up on the call.

He grabbed the whisky bottle and gulped down a mouthful of the contents inside. He glared directly into space as if his worst enemy was there.

"Ethan Anderson," he called. "Since I wasn’t able to kill you the other day, just be prepared for me this time," he vowed with a firm tone.

Outside, Erika’s hand flew to her mouth to stop herself from screaming out loud. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Ethan was alive? Her Ethan was alive? Tears brimmed in her eyes and she didn’t bother to hold them back. They were tears of joy so they should be allowed to flow. She had been curious as to why Adrian had been so violent earlier but didn’t think it could be because Ethan was alive.

She felt like a heavy burden had been removed from her shoulders, making them lighter for her again. Erika peeked once more into Adrian’s room and found the latter’s eyes closed shut, probably thinking of how to end Ethan’s life again, Erika thought to herself.

"I’m going to sleep soundly tonight," she mumbled under her breath with a smile. Since she’d received some very good news that was bad for some people, she didn’t waste any more time there and quickly left to go to her room.

After reaching the door, she pulled out the card that had been handed over to her by Adrian one time which only worked on the door to her room. He was still very much cautious around her and also didn’t completely trust her yet because if he did, he would have given her the general card.

But at this moment, Erika didn’t think too much about it. Ethan was alive and very soon, she’d be out of here and she would have the privilege to teach every member of her ex-in-laws a lesson.

After arriving inside her room, Erika was about to get under the covers but she suddenly stopped when she remembered Adrian’s words, ’medical condition.’

Worries filled her mind at the thought that Ethan could be sick. After thinking for a while, she didn’t brush it off and thought positively.

"Ethan is alive and very soon, I will be out of this place," she repeated to herself until it sank in. "I still need to get my hands on his phone again," she added with a determined voice.
