Chapter 190: TRY
Felix had already informed Ethan about the outcome of their tracing of Adrian’s car. It was as if the man had figured out he was being followed by them.
"I’ve already informed my men to start searching," said Felix.
"And so have I," Ethan added and a frown replaced the worried looks on their faces.
"Who was it?" Mrs Anderson asked.
As if on cue, a knock was heard coming from the door before it spread wide open, revealing the person behind it.
As soon as Mrs Anderson’s eyes fell on Edward Anderson, she quickly stood up to go hug her nephew.
"Edward, oh my goodness, it’s such a surprise to see you," the elder woman expressed her shock.
"Same here Aunty," Edward remarked. "But then, I had to come since a certain cousin of mine needed my help. I dropped everything and rushed over here to see what I can do," he added.
Felix leaned towards Ethan and whispered, "You contacted Edward?"
Ethan released a sigh before he nodded. "I needed his connections in the military. I’m sure he has those special devices that could trace Adrian," he stated.
Both Edward and Ethan had been known to never get along in the past due to some family drama so Edward moved to the military and chose to serve the country instead.
Sensing that his cousin wasn’t going to welcome him, Edward simply welcomed himself by walking towards Ethan to examine his head more closely.
"Why do you have a bandage all wrapped around your head? Are you trying to play the role of a mummy?" He asked. "If you are, then I suggest you wrap your whole body with the bandage instead, that way....ouch" Edward didn’t get the chance to complete his sentence when he felt the pain from the back of his head. He yelled in pain as he turned back to see Mr Anderson, his uncle glaring hard at him as if telling him to stop joking around.
"Talk with sense sometimes, this isn’t the time to joke around," the old man scolded.
While rubbing his pained head, Edward nearly cried out before he looked down at the old man’s wrinkled knuckles and realized why the knock on his head was so painful. Mr Anderson’s knuckles seemed to have big and hard knuckles, which was the reason no matter how hard he tried to rub the pain away, it seemed to hurt more.
"Geez uncle, did you store some strength in your hands just so you could knock me with it," Edward nearly yelled out of frustration.
Mr Anderson raised his hands, ready to knock Edward again but the latter saw it coming and quickly moved away from there.
Felix helped Ethan to the bed and informed Edward,
"I have already explained some things to you over the phone but we just received some info from the police regarding Erika’s whereabouts."
Edward grabbed a seat, listened to all that Ethan had to say and nodded in understanding.
"Okay, this Adrian who is your rival seems to be doing something that isn’t ordinary. I mean, how can he gain power after he’d already gone bankrupt," Edward wondered.
"We are also wondering the same thing," said Felix.
Edward was about to say something else but when he felt the area where his uncle had just hit him sting and he mumbled, "I hope I don’t end up with amnesia."
"Since Erika had already given us some clues, finding her shouldn’t be too difficult anymore. Although it still will be since there are a lot of mansions with tall fences," he said before thinking. If she was able to get her hands on the phone and make a phone call from the phone to the police, the officers should still have the phone number in their call history. "We have to go to the police station," he declared.
"Why?" Ethan asked.
"If we can get Adrian’s number from the police, we could use it to trace him and make things even easier for us," he explained.
The others were shocked as to why they hadn’t thought of it yet but complied. Felix and Daniel went with Edward to the police station, leaving Ethan and his parents behind.
After getting to the police station, Edward showed his ID card to the officers and immediately, they stood up and greeted him with a salute.
"Who was the officer who called Felix Walters?" he asked directly without wasting any time.
"I was sir," one of the officers who was standing admitted.
"Were you also the one whom Erika Walters called?" Edward asked and the officer repeated the same reply from earlier.
"Do you still have the number that she used in calling you?" Edward asked and the officer nodded in reply. Without the need to be told, he started to type on his computer, trying to find the number.
"Can we be able to trace the number if the officer can find it?" Daniel asked Edward.
"Of course," said Edward. "That number is Adrian’s number and if we can trace it, then Erika is as good as found," he added. He had been in the military for a while, so he spoke with confidence.
The two brothers glanced at each other, not finding the whole thing easy. But since they haven’t tried this method yet, they were willing to give it a try.
"Sir, I’ve seen the number," the officer announced.
"Good, I’m going to copy the number. We need it for our investigation," he said, copying the phone number from the computer. "If Erika Walters ever calls again, do let us know," he requested and the officer nodded.
The trio left the police station and got inside the car. Out of curiosity, Daniel asked,
"I know that you said you are going to trace that phone number, but how are you doing to do that? I thought phone numbers can only be traced when there is an ongoing call?"
"That’s right, but not all tracing needs an ongoing call," Edward replied and drove off.
