Chapter 165: DEAF EARS
"Hey! How dare you punch Mr Salvador?" A man, who seemed to be Mr Salvador’s accomplice since he was close to him when the game began, questioned as he helped Mr Salvador to regain his footing. "Who do you think you are?"
Others were about to attack Adrian but Viper finally intervened.
"I don’t want any fights in here so if you people want to fight, you can do it outside but before you do that, may I ask? Why would you people want to fight in the first place? Salvador, send the money," he urged Mr Salvador who stared at him with wide eyes.
He wasn’t willing to transfer the sum of 6 million to someone so easily since that was a huge sum of money for him. He would rather get another punch than send his hard-earned money to him.
"I won’t," he objected.
Viper called Mamba over and the man arrived. Part of his job as the boss of the underground gambling was to make sure that every winner gets paid their money and since Mr Salvador was objecting to what he was supposed to do, Viper wouldn’t bat an eyelash before he taught him a lesson.
Mamba grabbed the old man by his collar and was about to drag him away but Mr Salvador immediately began his pleaded.
Mr Salvador could sense what was coming for him. A punishment that most debtors go through. It’s either their fingers are chopped off or they are made to sit on a chair, wired with a lot of electric wires.
"I will pay it now," he said with folded hands. "I will pay him now," he added.
He didn’t want his fingers to be chopped off just because of this one man. It just wasn’t worth it.
Adrian smirked internally but wore a solemn expression. He watched Mr Salvador bring out his phone from his suit jacket and asked for his bank details. Once it was confirmed, Adrian received an alert and he saw the money in his bank account increase some more and he couldn’t help himself but reveal the smile that had been threatening to be released.
"Please let me go," Mr Salvador pleaded. Mamba glanced at his boss and waited for his go signal. Once he received a nod from Viper, he let go of Salvador and the old man quickly backed away from him.
"Now," Viper began. "I don’t want this kind of nonsense to happen again. If you call someone a cheat and you still end up losing to him, you pay them. This is not the first time that you all have been involved in a game like this before," he warned them.
Once Adrian saw Viper leaving the scene, he followed him.
In the forest which perfectly camouflaged a deserted house, Felicia grabbed the phone from Tobias and stared at it with hope. Now she will be able to contact Adrian and inform him about the soon arrival of their baby.
"Don’t tell me you are going to call Erika with that phone," Tobias questioned his sister. He had been called by Felicia the previous day to bring a phone along with him whenever he was coming next. They couldn’t use Madam Laura’s since she had already left the house to check on her men, leaving with no phone and there was no means of communication for them anymore so the spare phone was very important.
"I’m not going to call her," said Felicia. "I might though but not now," she added.
Tobias released a sigh when he heard his sister. She had always been a stubborn person and he could only hope that she wouldn’t do anything that could put her and her baby in harm’s way.
"So who are you going to call first?" he asked her.
"Adrian."
"But then Adrian would know that you’ve already escaped from prison and might report that number and then you will be traced here," he tried to warn her.
Felicia hissed in irritation before she snapped at her brother,
"Will you relax? I’m not stupid okay? I know Adrian is mad at me but am not planning on calling him at the moment. Just like you said, he might report me since he is mad at him for what happened so I am going to wait for everything to cool down for a bit before I do. I will take him by surprise."
"And then what? You will ask him to take responsibility for the baby? How can you even be sure that he was the one who got you pregnant? No offense but you did do the deed with a lot of men so there is a high chance that he isn’t the father," Tobias expressed his thoughts. When he had heard from his parents about the news that had circulated the city about Felicia’s affairs with married men, he was ashamed to call her his sister but what could he do when she needed his help?
"Adrian is the father," said Felicia with a firm tone. She had made sure when she was taking the herbal medications that had been given to her by Mr. Lee, she had not interacted with another man. "He is the father of this baby and I will make sure that he comes to take care of his responsibilities," she added, determined.
In less than a month at least she would give birth and from there, she would contact Adrian and let him know that their child had been born.
"Didn’t you say you didn’t want anything to do with him?" Tobias asked her.
"But he still has to take responsibility, this child is still his," she concluded.
In the middle of their conversation, Madam Laura arrived, wearing a wig and some big clothes with a cap to cover her face and keep her identity hidden. Their pictures had already surrounded the internet and the walls of California since the police officers were still trying to find them.
"So how was the meeting with your men? Are they willing to help me?" Felicia asked Madam Laura.
The woman glanced at her before she took a seat at the other side.
"I did some research about Erika, whom you said is the cause of all of your problems and I discovered that she is a powerful woman. Her family is one of the biggest families in America and so is her boyfriend," Madam Laura informed.
A big frown formed on Felicia’s face as she waited for Madam Laura to continue.
"They are also rich people with many connections from around the world," she paused for a few seconds and glanced at Tobias before she continued. "Your brother was right, Erika Walters is not someone you can easily deal with."
Felicia clenched her fist in anger when she heard all the words that Madam Laura had just spouted. She had always believed and continued to believe that Erika was only putting up a show with her sudden rich personality. It was impossible for Erika to suddenly turn rich, it was just impossible, she thought to herself.
Having a strong family background and a rich boyfriend was something only she was supposed to have and not her mortal enemy. Eriks had stolen her life, she thought to herself.
"I told you," said Tobias. "Erika is not the same woman you met many years ago," he added.
"That must be the reason Adrian wanted to be back with her," she thought out loud as her balled fist only tightened.
On the other hand, Madam Laura simply watched the siblings. She had already washed her hands from helping Felicia. She wasn’t going to involve herself with such powerful people and then go back to prison, it was too much risk and she wasn’t willing to take it.
Her men had warned her to back off from the Walters, most especially the Andersons and that was what she was going to do.
"So that bitch was hiding her identity all this time huh?" Felicia cursed. To think that Erika, the lady whom she would mock all the time and insult had suddenly leveled up, it was as if dirt had been thrown in front of her face. It disgusted her. "Well, rich or not rich, she must pay for what she did and to me," she added.
Felicia didn’t want to be scared that easily, it was Erika’s fault that her face had been scarred and she was not going to rest in peace until she had achieved her goal.
"Are you stupid? Aren’t you hearing what we are saying?" Tobias asked her. He didn’t want his sister to do anything preposterous, especially now that she was out of prison and about to give birth.
"Like I said Tobias, Erika will get what is coming to her, I will make sure of it!"
Madam Laura glanced at Felicia and wondered if the girl was stupid. Not just stupid but also foolish. She is being warned but has decided to turn deaf ears but it doesn’t concern Madam Laura.
Now that she has escaped from prison, she will just go back to her men and stay away from them. She didn’t need their help anymore.
"If that’s what you’ve decided Felicia, then I’m sorry but I can’t help you," she declared.
Instantly, Felicia who was glaring at her brother turned her neck to look at Madam Laura and questioned,
"What do you mean by you won’t help me? You told me that you’ll help me, wasn’t that what you said?"
